Explain about security of the Ajax based web applications?

The XMLHttpRequest object is subjected to the browsers security sandbox. Any resources requested by the XMLHttpRequest object must reside within the same domain from which the calling script originated from which the calling script requested. XMLHttpRequest cannot request services due to security restriction, outside the domain from which the script was originally served. (More...)

What are the requirements to create a CLR based user-defined type?

CLR must be enabled for the instance and A class created with a CLR-compatible language. (More...)

Forms-Based Authentication

Forms-based authentication is used to implement customized logic for authenticating users without having to worry about session management using cookie. It gives developer more access to specify which files on the site can be accessed and by whom, and allows identification of a login page [3,7].
This mechanism will automatically redirect the unauthenticated user to login page and ask them to provide proper credentials (e.g. username/password combination). If login is successful, ASP.NET then issues the cookie to the user and redirects them to specific resources that they originally requested. This cookie allows the user to revisit particular protected resources without having to repeatedly log in.

What are the disadvantages of AJAX?

The disadvantages are:
a)Ajax is not so friendly with search engine indexing because it uses Javascript for much part of its code. Search engines generally do not index Javascript present in web pages.
b)Dynamically created pages created by ajax does not support back button which takes the user to the previous pages. (More...)

Is the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit(AjaxControlToolkit.dll) installed in the Global Assembly Cache?

No. You must copy the AjaxControlToolkit.dll assembly to the /Bin folder in your application. (More...)

What is the role of the ScriptManager control in implementing multilingual applications (AJAX)?

The ScriptManager control can be used to define the UI or custom UI cultures that you would use in your applications. You can set the
EnableScriptLocalization and EnableScriptGlobalization properties of
the ScriptManager control to true and specify the script reference path as per your requirements. (More...)

Explain the disadvantage of ajax related to browser integration?

Dynamically created pages created by ajax does not support back button which takes the user to the previous pages. There are various solutions to this problem out of which one solution is to use iframes. Also users can bookmark a certain application in its state. User can maintain the applications as the state of the application changes (More...)

What is ChildrenAsTriggers ,and to which control it belongs? (AJAX)

When the ChildrenAsTriggers property is set to true and any child control of the UpdatePanel control causes a postback. Child controls of nested UpdatePanel controls do not cause an update to the outer UpdatePanel control unless they are explicitly defined as triggers for the parent panel. (More...)

How do you invoke a web method of web service in AJAX?

In order to use a webmethod of a webservice, we need to add the reference of webservice in the section of ScriptManager. Under services you have to configure the servicepath.

< asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">
< Services>
< asp:ServiceReference Path="..\service1.asmx" />
< /Services>
< /asp:ScriptManager>

Inside JAvascript Use methods of this service directly like
service1.methodname() (More...)

What Is AJAX?

AJAX = Asynchronous JavaScript and XML

AJAX is not a new programming language, but a technique for creating better, faster, and more interactive web applications.

With AJAX, your JavaScript can communicate directly with the server, using the JavaScript XMLHttpRequest object. With this object, your JavaScript can trade data with a web server, without reloading the page.

AJAX uses asynchronous data transfer (HTTP requests) between the browser and the web server, allowing web pages to request small bits of information from the server instead of whole pages.

The AJAX technique makes Internet applications smaller, faster and more user-friendly.

* AJAX is a browser technology independent of web server software.
So you dont have to worry about the Server Side Technology when implementing AJAX in your Web Applications

What is Ajax? What is ASP.NET AJAX?

What is Ajax?

The term Ajax was coined by Jesse James Garrett and is a short form for "Asynchronous Javascript and XML". Ajax represents a set of commonly used techniques, like HTML/XHTML, CSS, Document Object Model(DOM), XML/XSLT, Javascript and the XMLHttpRequest object, to create RIA's (Rich Internet Applications).
Ajax gives the user, the ability to dynamically and asynchronously interact with a web server, without using a plug-in or without compromising on the user's ability to interact with the page. This is possible due to an object found in browsers called the XMLHttpRequest object.

'ASP.NET AJAX' is a terminology coined by Microsoft for 'their' implementation of AJAX, which is a set of extensions to ASP.NET. These components allow you to build rich AJAX enabled web applications, which consists of both server side and client side libraries.
Which is the current version of ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit?
As of this writing, the toolkit version is Version 1.0.20229 (if you (if you are targeting Framework 2.0, ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 and Visual Studio 2005) and Version 3.0.20229 (if targeting .NET Framework 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008). (More...)
