What is the concept of destructors in VB.NET?

Posted By :Subhransu Sekhar Jena     Posted Date :October 31, 2014    Points :40   Category :VB.Net
Destructors are used to de-allocate resources i.e. to clean up after an object is no longer available.

Explain the concept of Reentrancy?

It is a useful, memory-saving technique for multiprogrammed timesharing systems. A Reentrant Procedure is one in which multiple users can share a single copy of a program during the same period. Reentrancy has 2 key aspects: The program code cannot modify itself, and the local data for each user process must be stored separately. Thus, the permanent part is the code, and the temporary part is the pointer back to the calling program and local variables used by that program. Each execution instance is called activation. It executes the code in the permanent part, but has its own copy of local variables/parameters. The temporary part associated with each activation is the activation record. Generally, the activation record is kept on the stack.

Note: A reentrant procedure can be interrupted and called by an interrupting program, and still execute correctly on returning to the procedure. (More...)

What is concept of Boxing and Unboxing ?

Boxing permits any value type to be implicitly converted to type object or to any interface type implemented by value type. Boxing is a process in which object instances are created and copy values in to that instance. Unboxing is vice versa of boxing operation where the value is copied from the instance in to appropriate storage location. Below is sample code of boxing and unboxing where integer data type is converted in to object and then vice versa.
Dim x As Integer
Dim y As Object x = 10
' boxing process
y = x
' unboxing process
x = y (More...)

I thought destructors didn't exist in C#.Why can I declare one?

You can declare a method that looks like a C++ destructor such as ~Employee(). But it really becomes a shorthand way to define System.Object.Finalize.The Finalize method is not the same as a C++ destructor.A short explanation is that C++ destructors are called when the call stack unwinds. The Finalize method will be called when the garbage collector of the CLR is ready to destroy the object. What is Data Model concept?

Data Model is a collection of conceptual tools for describing data, data relationships data semantics and constraints. (More...)

What is "Locking" concept in DBMS?

Locking is the most common type of concurrency control mechanism. In this approach, any data is retrieved by an active user for updating, must be locked or denied to other users until updating is not complete. (More...)

How the concept of method overriding different from method overloading?

When overriding occurs on a method, you can change the behavior of the method for the class you have derived. Overloading a method involves in having another method with the same name within the class. (More...)

What is the concept of strong names ?

Strong name is similar to GUID(It is supposed to be unique in space and time) in COM
components.Strong Name is only needed when we need to deploy assembly in GAC. Strong
Names helps GAC to differentiate between two versions. Strong names use public key cryptography
(PKC) to ensure that no one can spoof it.PKC use public key and private key concept. (More...)

What is concept of Boxing and Unboxing?

Boxing permits any value type to be implicitly converted to type object or to any interface type
implemented by value type. Boxing is a process in which object instances are created and copy
values in to that instance.

Unboxing is vice versa of boxing operation where the value is copied from the instance in to
appropriate storage location. (More...)

The concept of states in ASP.NET

State is quite an innovative concept in Web development because it eliminates the drawback of losing state data due to reloading of a Web page. By using states in a Web application, you can preserve the state of the application either at the server or client end. The state of a Web application helps you to store the runtime changes that have been made to the Web application. (More...)

What is destructors in C#?

Destructor is called for a class object when that object passes out of scope or is explicitly deleted.A destructors as the name implies is used to destroy the objects that have been created by a constructors.Like a constructor , the destructor is a member function whose name is the same as the class name but is precided by a tilde.

What are constructors and destructors

Constructors and destructors are special methods.

Constructors and destructors are special methods of every class.

Each class has its own constructor and destructor and are called automatically when the instance of a class is created or destroyed.

The constructor initializes all class members whenever you access the class and the destructor destroys them when the objects are not required anymore. (More...)

What is the concept of Postback in ASP.NET.

A postback is a request sent from a client to server from the same page user is already working with.

ASP.NET was introduced with a mechanism to post an HTTP POST request back to the same page. It's basically posting a complete page back to server (i.e. sending all of its data) on same page. So, the whole page is refreshed. (More...)

What is concept of strong names ?

While using shared assemblies, in order to avoid name collisions strong names are used. Strong Names are based on private key cryptography , ie private assemblies are simply given the same name as their main file name. (More...)
