Add or Remove blocked file types in SharePoint 2010?

First Open SharePoint Central Administration.

Click on Security ->General Security ->Define blocked file types as shown in the figure below:

On the Blocked File Types page, You can also change the web application for which you want add remove blocked files.

Then in the box you can delete if you want to remove any file type or you can add file types in separate line which you want to restrict

difference between backup file and .stp file in sharepoint site

  
A backup file is more like a DB snapshot (if you are talking about the backup operation of STSADM)

You can save a site with our without content as template and can create other sites based upon that site template. For that first you have to save your site as a template which will be saved with extension .STP, OOB there is limitation of 10MB in size but u can increase the size upto 2 GB using STSADM command. What is a .ddf file and what does it have to do with SharePoint Solution creation?

  
A .ddf file is a data directive file and is used when building the SharePoint solution bundle specifying the source files and their destination locations.
