What are the Disadvantages of using SQL Triggers ?

Posted By :Srikanth     Posted Date :April 22, 2011    Points :40   Category :Sql Server
Disadvantages of Using SQL Triggers :

. Trigger can provide extended validation and it cannot be replaced with all the validations.

. Simple validations can be done at the application level itself .

. Triggers executes invisibly from client-application which connects to the database server. So it is difficult to figure out what happens at the database layer.

. Triggers runs on every update made to the table therefore it adds more load to the database and cause the system to run slow.

What are the disadvantages of AJAX?

The disadvantages are:
a)Ajax is not so friendly with search engine indexing because it uses Javascript for much part of its code. Search engines generally do not index Javascript present in web pages.
b)Dynamically created pages created by ajax does not support back button which takes the user to the previous pages. (More...)

What are the differences among batches, stored procedures, and triggers?

A batch is a group of one or more SQL statements. SQL Server compiles the statements of a batch into a single executable unit, called an execution plan. The statements in the execution plan are then executed one at a time.

stored procedure :
A stored procedure is a group of SQL statements that is compiled one time and can then be executed many times.

A trigger is a special type of stored procedure that is not called directly. Trigger is fired each time row is affected by Insert, Update or Delete command.

What are the disadvantages of viewstate/what are the benefits?

1)Performance can be reduced. becuse the viewstate is stored in the page itself, storing large values can cause the page to slowdown. It can carry only up to 10 KB of data very easily without causing any degraded perfomance.
2) As view state is stored in a hidden field on the page although it stores data in a hashed base64 encoded format, it can be tampered.

Advantages :
1) No server resources are required
2) simple Implementation
3) Automatic retention of page & view state (More...)

Disadvantages of LAN?

1. Limited number of systems can only be connected
2. Cannot cover large area
3. Network performance degrades as number of users exceeds (More...)

Disadvantages of Hybrid Topology?

1. Installation and configuration is difficult.

2. More expensive than other topologies.

3. More cabling is required. (More...)

What are the different Types of Triggers?

1)Insert Triggers
2)Update Triggers
3)Delete Triggers
4)Instead of Triggers

What are the Uses Of Triggers?

Prevent Changes
log Changes(Keep copy of Old data)
Replicate data(Stores Record for Every page) (More...)

What are advantages and disadvantages of Microsoft-provided data provider classes in ADO.NET?

SQLServer.NET data provider is high-speed and robust, but requires SQL Server license purchased from Microsoft. OLE-DB.NET is universal for accessing other sources, like Oracle, DB2, Microsoft Access and Informix, but it's a .NET layer on top of OLE layer, so not the fastest thing in the world. ODBC.NET is a deprecated layer provided for backward compatibility to ODBC engines. (More...)

Name the Types of Triggers in WPF?

There are three types of triggers in WPF:

1)Property Triggers - run when the value of a dependency property changes.
2)Data Triggers - run when the value of any .NET property changes, using data binding.
3)Event Triggers - run when a routed event occurs.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of viewstate?

The primary advantages of the ViewState feature in ASP.NET are:
1. Simplicity. There is no need to write possibly complex code to store form data between page submissions.
2. Flexibility. It is possible to enable, configure, and disable ViewState on a control-by-control basis, choosing to persist the values of some fields but not others.
There are, however a few disadvantages that are worth pointing out:
1. Does not track across pages. ViewState information does not automatically transfer from page to page. With the session
approach, values can be stored in the session and accessed from other pages. This is not possible with ViewState, so storing
data into the session must be done explicitly.
2. ViewState is not suitable for transferring data for back-end systems. That is, data still has to be transferred to the back
end using some form of data object

Can we work on both (After) and (InsteadOf) Triggers in SQL on a single table?

We can create any type of triggers on a single table . But the thing is if we have Instead Of Trigger created on a table until and unless it is disabled or deleted we cannot work on After Triggers.
At a single stretch we cannot work on both the types.

How many different types of triggers available ? what are they?

There are mainly 3 different types of triggers they are

DML Triggers

The Database operations could be done by using Insert,Update,Delete
In this there are 2 different options a) After b) Insted Of

DDL Triggers

The Database operations that could be done using this are Create,Alter,Drop

CLR Triggers

User Defined Triggers (More...)

What are the Advantages of using SQL Triggers ?

Different Advantages of Using SQL Triggers :

. It can catch the errors in business logic at the database level.

. It provides an alternative way to run scheduled tasks.

. It is very much useful when we use it to audit the change the data in a database table.

. Using SQL trigger,we don't have to wait to run the scheduled tasks. we can handle
those tasks before or after changes being made to database tables.

. It provides an alternative way to check integrity. (More...)

What are Advantages and Disadvantages of using Connection Pooling

Advantage of using Connection Pooling is an improvement of performance and scalability

Disadvantage is that one or more database connections, even if they are currently not used, are kept open
