An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

I get this message when I try to launch a report (.rdl) from Windows Sharepoint 2007.  I have followed the steps to integrate SQL 2005 SP2 with Sharepoint 2007.  I can launch the report by navigating to "http://server:880/reportserver/.."  I am using a shared datasource that I created within sharepoint.  Any help would be appreciated.

WCF issues sending large data - "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Hi Guys I have posted the following on www.asp.net but thought it might be productive posting here too.I have been pulling my hair out trying to fix an issue with sending data over WCF, I have read pretty much every THREAD on this forum regarding or similar to this issue without any successful solution.  I have a simple data object which has a [DataMember] with a data type of byte[]. I use this to send binary data from my web app as follows: Asp.net MVC website --> WCF Client (Has my Service References) --> My Services (MyServices.svc) --> Business/Data Tier Everything is being executed from within VS 2008 Pro.   Now I have successfully sent data up to 2.2MB, however it fails if i try and send a file such as 2.3MB or larger i get the following exceptions: General Exception Exception rethrown at [0]:    at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg)   at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.IMyService.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode)   at SoftApp.WCFClient.MyServiceReference.MyServiceClient.Document_Save(DtoDocument dtoDocument, Int32 usercode) in c:\dev\softapp\softapp.wcfclient\service references\myservicereference\refe

SQL Server Configuration Manager: Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion

I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over.  Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in.  The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one.   All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account.  When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.".  I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up.   All of the SQL Server services run fine.  It is just this management console that I cannot open.  I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history.   Any help would be appreciated.

Running console apps on host vs dev machine

I've always assumed that you could not run code against a remote SharePoint server outside of webservices. Is this correct or is there something similar to the ICredentials / NetworkCredentials objects that you use for webservices.   I wanted to use an app I wrote on a MOSS 2007 Dev machine but the SPS 2003 machine does not have the needed libraries v12.0 libraries. This makes sense but of course I tried to get it to run anyways. Now I'm in the middle of installing Visual Studio on a SPS 2003 dev machine and wanted to see if there was a different way.   Thanks

syspolicy_purge_history generates unauthorised connection to other instances on a machine

Hi folks, My scenario is this:   I have 3 SQL Server 2008 (Standard, 64-bit, SP1) instances, say A, B C on a virtual server. Each instance has its own dedicated service account (sqlsvc-A, sqlsvc-B and sqlsvc-C respectively). syspolicy_purge_history has been installed on all threee instances by default.     step 3 in respective syspolicy_purge_history jobs reads:   (Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\Machinename\A).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords() (Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\Machinename\B).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords() (Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\Machinename\C).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords()   so they appear to have been set correctly.   syspolicy_purge_history in instance A works OK.   syspolicy_purge_history in in instance B seems to want to first connect to instance A, resulting in Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. Login failed for user 'Machinename\sqlsvc-A'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] . No errors are reported by Powershell.   syspolicy_purge_history in in instance C seems to want to first connect to instance A , resu;ting in Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

I hosted a wcf service application using windows services. When my client (ASP.NET) tries to call the service class hosted by the windows service, I get this error "TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. ". Is there a fix for this? The same code works fine if I host it using a console application.

Package connection error to DB2 host

Connecting to a DB2 host the error is coming up 'Use does not have authority etc etc'

Here's the scenario.

BIDS test connection works fine.

I am using Package Configuration and have verified that the username and password in the xml are working.

I deploy the package via the deployment wizard.

Run the package and it fails with :

SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANGER. <More blurb>

Then another error message 5 lines down:

"The user does not have the authority on the host resource"

I suspect the username and password are not being passed over.

I am at a loss. The xml config file definetly has the username and password in it.

Any help much appreciated.

TIA

The socket connection was aborted Exception

Hi All,

whenI use wcf, the client recorded the exception below.

if server and client deploy same computer the exception can't occur.

if server and client deploy different computer the exception can occur.

The socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was '01:40:29.2170000'.

I am perttymuch sure tat its not because of time out. I have given the config like this in client side and service side

NetTcpBinding tcpBinding = new NetTcpBinding();

tcpBinding.SendTimeout =

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it

I am on the console of a server with a SQL Server 2008 installation.

I CAN successfully connect to the instance with this command:     c:\>    sqlcmd -E -S localhost\DW

I can NOT successfully connect with this one:    c:\>   sqlcmd -E -S localhost\DW,1433

  • Remote Server connections are enabled under server properties, connections
  • Under SQL Server configuration manager, "Protocols for DW" has TCP/IP enabled, TCP Dynamic Ports empty, TCP Port set to 1433.
  • My firewall is shutdown
  • I've restarted the SQL Server instance after config manager changes.

I receive this message:
