Creating a volume control slider/setting one template property based on another

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
So, what I want to do, is to make a volume control that looks like a right angle triangle with the 90 degree angle on the bottom right, and then when you click on it, the area to the left of the selected point is shown in a different color.  In other words, I've created a slider with the right background, what I can't do, is work out how to show the selected area by filling in the triangle.  I have worked out how to bind the height of my triangle on the left to the value of the control, but right now, the rate of rise is exactly half of what I need it to be.  I need to know how to change the template for the area to the left of the selection ( which is the repeat button ) so that the background is twice the height that it is right now.  No matter what size I make the slider, the area is always 1/2 the size it needs to be, so I am sure if I could get it to double inside my template, it would work fine. <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"     xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml">       <Style x:Key="SliderButtonStyle" TargetType="{x:Type RepeatButton}">         <Setter Property="SnapsToDevicePixels" Value="true"/>         <

Error Creating Control - 'asp:UpdatePanelAnimationExtender' could not be set on property 'Animati

It doesn't seem to matter what I try to make the animation do, I keep getting this shown in the designer. No one else on google seems to be getting that problem either. Note: it doesn't cause debugging or runtime issues... in fact, the only negative thing it does is make it extremely annoying when I look at the designer... I'm going to have about 12 of these updatepanelanimations firing everytime the timer ticks too :(. MasterPage file has the toolkitscriptmanager on it. Here is my designer code for the page I'm having the issue on:<%@ Page Title="" Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.Master" CodeBehind="TimeLine.aspx.vb" Inherits="TimeLine.WebForm1" %> <%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="asp" %> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server"> <asp:Timer ID="Timer1" runat="server" Interval="7000"> </asp:Timer> <asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" Height="285px" HorizontalAlign="Center" Width="970px" BackImageUrl="~/Images/Img.jpg"> <br />

Setting .net windows control location based on Screen width

I am developing an windows application in 20 inch moniter. I am positioning the controls in WPF like this

scrollViewer1.Height = Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Height / 5;

If I run this application in 15 inch monitor whether it will change the position of the control or it will give the look and feel what i expected.

Please clarify?

If it will chnage the positioning,please suggest how to poistion the control to support all screens widths.

Enable/Disable Buttons based on another control property

Say i have a tab control that displays data of various types, eg EditorTabViewModel (eg. code view of WYSIWYG), PreviewTabViewModel (eg. preview of WYSIWYG) both inheriting from TabViewModel . The implementation is similar to the tutorial on MSDN

I want to enable/disable buttons depending on the active tab, whether its an EditorTabViewModel or a PreviewTabViewModel and maybe based even on properties of the ViewModel?. How can I achieve this?

Repeating items in calendar break after creating a site based on a template

We have the following issue when using a calendar in a site that is based on a template.

We add a calendar to a blank site. This site we save as a template in the solution gallery.

We then create a new site based on a template. After creating a repeating item in the calendar list, the end date of the repeating item will be the end date of the repetition. So the new appointment is spread across 4 weeks for a repeating appointment that repeats for 4 weeks.

If you connect the calendar to Outlook the appointments are displayed correct.

Does anybody have similar results and can confirm this is a bug?

Setting label property in web control

Hello all,

I am converting a 1.1 .NET web app to 3.5, and I've run into a bit of a jam.

One web control has a Property that sets the page title label on that web control.

    Public Overridable Property PageTitle() As String

'Exposes the PageTitle property of the child control.
Return lblPageTitle.Text
End Get

Set(ByVal Value As String)
'TODO: find out why this throws a NullReference exception
lblPageTitle.Text = Value
End Set

End Property

When a page with the web control was loaded before, it would set the Property to a given string, like in ucHeader.PageTitle = "This is a string."  Now, if I don't remove the lblPageTitle.Text = Value, I get a NullReference Exception.  Anyone have any ideas?

Creating Paging for a Repeater Control

A common question is "How do I implement paging within a Repeater?" Although the beauty of the Repeater control is its flexibility, you're on your own for building most functions. ASP.NET 2.0 has included some new controls that provide paging, as does the DataGrid in ASP.NET 1.1. However, this tip shows you how to roll your own paging for a simple data viewer.

Custom Server Control Property not maintaining state

I have created a server control consisting of a TextArea and a div under it.  My goal is to create my own asp:TextArea type control.  the div is for a Character count of the text area and seems to work ok but i added a CharacterCountVisible property to the control that is always returning true.  See Proptery definition below

<Bindable(False), Category("Appearance"), DefaultValue("True"), Localizable(True)> Property CharacterCountVisible() As Boolean
        Return _CountBoxVisible
    End Get
    Set(ByVal value As Boolean)
        _CountBoxVisible = value
    End Set
End Property

Note the _CountBoxVisible variable is define inside the class as :

Dim _CountBoxVisible as Boolean = True

What I am trying to do is give the user/coder the option to show/utilize the char count feature.  Can make it disappear with textarea1.CharacterCountVisible = False but setting it to true will not make it display.

What am i missing

Category attribute of user control property does not work correctly in categories tab.

I have a User Control (ascx) and a property which a want to display in my categories tab in Visual Studio in the category named "Styles".

[Category("Styles"), DefaultValue(""), Description("The value for formating something.")]
public String MyFormatProperty
set { /* the code for set */; }
get { /* the code for get */; }

And here is the problem: Actually I do not need a get, because I only have to set the property (write only property). But when I omit the get, the property is displayed in the "Misc" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio. Only when I code the get as well, then the property is displayed correctly in the "Styles" category in the categories tab in Visual Studio.

Does anybody know why? How can I display the category correctly only with set?

Thanks, S.

creating a code based on the evaluation

I would like to create a simple program, like a game, but so far without any graphical interface. Only a code, supported with some numbers, so that the user will know whats going on in the background.

I was thinking of creating a racing game (like formula 1 or sometihng similar), with available data (attributes) like:

Driver: age, agility, concentration, experiance, stamina,...

Car: engine, chassis, tyres

Advanced Basics: Creating A Breadcrumb Control

Hansel and Gretel had the right idea when "they followed the pebbles that glistened there like newly minted coins, showing them the way. " The deeper you get into the forest or into your data, the more likely you are going to need help to find your way back out again.

Advanced Basics: Creating a Five-Star Rating Control

I have to admit it; most of my Windows® Forms controls are an attempt to copy something that already exists. In my October 2004 column I showed you how to create a progress bar that mimicked the one shown during the Windows XP setup routine, and this month I'm at it again.

ISAPI Extensions: Creating a DLL to Enable HTTP-based File Uploads with IIS

The MIME-compliant content type, called multipart/form-data, makes writing HTML that uploads files almost trivial. On the server side though, ASP does not have a way to access data in the multipart/form-data format. The most flexible way to access the uploaded file is through a C++ ISAPI Extension DLL. This article describes a reusable ISAPI extension DLL that allows you to upload images and files without writing C++ code. It is coupled with a few COM components that make it readily reusable for ASP development. With .NET, this whole process is much easier, and this article shows preliminary code that uploads files using ASP.NET features.

User Control and DataSourceID Property

I created a user control (.ascx) that contains a paging-user-control, a repeater and some other controls.
I want to use the property DataSourceID. How should I get the data from the datasource and when?
What is the recommended way?

I did it this way:
- Create a method to get the data by reflection, like:

private void PerformSelect()
	if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(this.DataSourceID))
		Control control = Page.FindControl(this.DataSourceID);
		if (control == null)
			control = Parent.FindControl(this.DataSourceID);

		MethodInfo method = control.GetType().GetMethod("Select");
		IEnumerable data = (IEnumerable)method.Invoke(control, new object[0]);

		this.DataSource = data;
 - Call this method
In PageLoad when no postback
Changing the current page (paging-user-control)
Changing the current tab (tab-user-control)
Switching Visibility to true

I think that way is not the optimum, is there any better way?
Do you have any suggestions or links?

Thanks for your help, Andreas

User Control as Composite Control Property

I have a composite control (Called Dialog) which has a property "ContentControl"

At design time, I'd like this property to bind to a user control that is on the page.

When I add the items in the designer, the designer loads as expected.

However, when I try to run the web page, I get the following error:

Parser Error Message: Cannot create an object of type 'System.Web.UI.UserControl' from its string representation 'EditTerm1' for the 'ContentControl' property.

Please let me know if there is another way to bind a user control as a property of a composite control.

Designer Code:

	<cc1:Dialog ID="Dialog1" runat="server" Buttons="SaveCancel"
Title="Edit Term" ContentControl="EditTerm1" />

creating different sub page design template in sharepoint website

I know very little about sharepoint and have outsourced the design of a master page and sub page design for a new website using sharepoint. i received a site master file with all of the necessary images and the home page works just fine. However the file i received for the sub page design template was an ASPX file with the following instructions:

Here I enclosed the inner page layout file. You upload this file by using following instructions. you can change & edit the blue menu section in the master page itself. If I change into modifiable section you need to add the menu in each and every page, otherwise it will show as empty block. Please let me know your comments.

Steps for uploading inner page layout page.

1.Select the Site Actions button and click on Site Settings->Modify All site settings

Updating sites based on a template

I'm currently planning a SharePoint site which will hold a number of subsites. All of these subsites will be based on a sitetemplate. Now in the future, I'm forseeing changes being made to that template. That's because at this point, it's not 100% clear how the subsites should look. We're probably going to miss out on some things which we will correct in the future.

Now suppose I've got a 100 sites already created and my manager tells me that I have to add a document library. I can add it, save the site template again and all the newly created sites (sites are created in our CRM app) will have the new document library. But what about all the sites already there? They'll won't get updated so they won't have the new document library. And if I want to add it, I would have to add it manually a 100 times, or write some code which will add it.

Now a new document library is only an example. There could be a lot more going on, like pages changing, webparts being added or deleted, etc. How do you guys facilitate such things? Or is a question of once a site is created it's just bad luck?
