Problem to create assembly which depends on other dll's from SQL Server

I am developing an application in .Net but I need to access to some procedures in ASP.Net since SQL Server.I have got it but i have problems to assembly the dll if it has dependencies of another dll's.I have read that if a dll need other dll it call it automatically but when I try to assembly my class in .NET there is the next error: Create failed for SqlAssembly 'ClaseEjemplo'. Assembly 'csyt.dal, version=0.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=null.' was not found in the SQL catalog. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) Nevertheless if I the class hasn't another dependencies it works. The class I am trying to assembly is ClaseEjemplo. If I try to use the procedure of other class "'csyt.dal" I have problems. If ClaseEjemplo hasn't dependencies it works perfectly! My class ClaseEjemplo is: using System;using System.Collections.Generic;using System.Text;using Csyt.DAL;using Csyt.Info; namespace ClaseEjemplo{    public class Class1    {        public static long devolucion()        {            AIAlarmaDB.TipoCondicion aux1 = new AIAlarmaDB.TipoCondicion();                        AIAlarmaDB aux = new AIAlarmaDB();            aux1=aux.GetTipoCondicionById(1);            return aux1.Id;        }     }}Thanks in advance

clr assembly in sql server - working directory? and exception question

Hello, I have a small assembly in sql server 2008... it's pretty simple, but in the very rare circumstance that it may throw an exception I am catching it and writting to a log file. something like: using (StreamWriter sr = new StreamWriter(@".\ErrorLog.txt", true)) { sr.WriteLine("{0:G} ===> {1}", DateTime. Now, ex.Message); } I believe that should write the file to the working directory... 1. what would the working directory be for sql server 2008? the binn directory? 2. what would happen if a clr assembly added to sql server throws an exception that is not handled by your clr code?

HOWTO add a C#.NET library to SQL Server as an assembly that uses such references as system.web.

HOWTO add a C#.NET library to SQL Server as an assembly that uses such references as system.web. I have a C# library (dll) I want to add to SQL Server via "CREATE ASSEMBLY", but the DLL uses these references: Microsoft.VisualBasic System System.Core System.Data System.Data.DataSetExtensions System.Drawing System.Management System.Web System.Web.Extensions System.Web.Mobile System.Web.Services System.Xml System.Xml.Linq And just to be clear, the DLL is a .NET 3.5 app, with the SQL Server being SQL Server 2008. Right off the bat, the "CREATE ASSEMBLY" call fails due to System.Web, which strangely, is 2.0.0.0. The CREATE ASSEMBLE says this error: Msg 10301, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Assembly 'MyLibrary' references assembly 'system.web, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.', which is not present in the current database. SQL Server attempted to locate and automatically load the referenced assembly from the same location where referring assembly came from, but that operation has failed (reason: 2(The system cannot find the file specified.)). Please load the referenced assembly into the current database and retry your request. I have tried to use VS 2010, to create a SQL Server DB project, and it point blank does not let one add references to things like System.Web. When trying to use "Add Ref", VS 2010 literally lo

Sharing Service Interface between client and server through common assembly

This thread indicates that there is a known bug concerning reuse of service contract interfaces with WCF. Has this bug been solved? I would like to avoid using the workaround since it would mean rewriting a whole lot of client code. In my specific scenario, I have a rather complex setting with 3 solutions: A server, a client and a third application. I want to reuse some of the logic from my server and the controls from my client in my third application, but I don't want to have to setup a server simply for the amount of logic I reuse. My idea was to instanciate the class that imlpements the service contract in the application, and link up the controls with the instance of the service that runs in the same application. This isn't working because the controls expect a reference to the service contract interface proxy and not the actual service contract interface. Even using the /r switch (which I assume is the "reuse types in referenced assemblies" checkbox in VS), the service proxy is created and the controls won't compile because of type mismatch.  What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your time.

Creating assembly throwing an error as system.directoryservices assembly is not in the SQL Server

Hi, I am trying to create an assembly (DLL file that created by C# ) which uses System.DirectoryServices assembly. When I try with following script Create ASSEMBLY Addresstype From 'C:\ActiDirectoryFunctions\ActiveDirectoryFunctions.dll' I am getting following Error Assembly 'ActiveDirectoryFunctions' references assembly 'system.directoryservices, version=2.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a.', which is not present in the current database. SQL Server attempted to locate and automatically load the referenced assembly from the same location where referring assembly came from, but that operation has failed (reason: 2(The system cannot find the file specified.)). Please load the referenced assembly into the current database and retry your request. From above error message, I learnt that System.DirectoryServices assembly is not in the SQL Server. I am using SQL SERVER 2005 SP2 and .Net Framework 3 is there in the machine How to manually add this assembly into this SQL Server Machine? Please let me know if you know Thank you, Raj Dreaming a world without any war in anywhere

Problem with updating assembly references in IIS server

I have a website which is in a Projects directory. The IIS server is set up to point to that website (i.e. any changes in the /Projects version are visible in the wwwroot version), so I can run the website locally on IIS server. One of the libararies that there is an assembly reference to in the website has been updated. If I run the /Projects website using the local ASP development server (localhost), I can open up the files in the library that have been changed and put a breakpoint in them, which will be triggered whenever that section of code is executed. However, when I run the IIS server version in webroot, if I put breakpoints in the same files, the breakpoint icons disappear, and it says that the symbols have not been loaded for the current page (presumably because the file is new, but the old code is being compiled in the assembly?). I have checked, and the library reference is set to auto update, and has the correct path to the dll in the project's .refresh file.I'm confused about this, since I thought the IIS server version was pointing to the same website as the one in /Projects, which works. If anybody has any advice on things that I can check or how I can fix this, I'd be grateful.

Unknown server tag error even after assembly registration

Hey guys,

I don't know what is going on. When I try to add a tab container in my page, it allows me to do that but when I modify the code, the unknown server tag error pops up in the design view of the page.

I checked the source code to see if I had my @register clause in there, and it was there, but still the error shows. I don't know what happened, the last time it worked perfectly.

I have also recently downloaded the cute editor for .net and installed the .dlls to my bin folder and it is showing the same simtoms as well.

Had any1 encountered this problem before and if so how did you fix it?

Thanks,

Zeph

How To Install .NET Assembly Into GAC On Windows Server 2008

Hi there.

I have a .NET 2.0 assembly which has been used in many SharePoint projects, running on W2K3 boxes, which I'm having trouble installing on a W2K8 box. Normally, on a W2K3 box, I can get away with dragging the assembly into the C:\Windows\Assembly folder and it will be installed, no problem. However, I see that things are a bit different in W2K8!

If I try to drag the assembly into the GAC, I get an error message indicating that I can't do that. Ok, so I ran Windows Explorer with 'Run As Administrator', but that made no difference.

I looked for .Net Configuration in Control Panel, but that is not there.

As a last resort I did a 'dir gacutil.exe /a/s/p' in a command prompt, but that returned nothing. There is no Visual Studio installed on the W2K8 box, thus I assume that's the reason for no gacutil.exe.

So my questions is, what is the preferred method of installing an assembly into the GAC in W2K8? Has anyone else had the same problem?

Thanks.
Jas.

Server Control - defined in an assembly that is not referenced

I have created a server control for my web page... I have decided to add an ajax popup extender (after creating the control, which builds and works fine.) After I add the AjaxControlToolKit reference I add the following:

private AjaxControlToolkit.PopupControlExtender pop;

I get this error when I add it:

"The type 'System.Web.UI.ExtenderControl' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced.
You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, "

I googled the error and it says to add something inside the web config... I do not have a web.config
file inside the server control.

thanks in advance,
Travis

SQL Server 2005 SP3 Applied and now a MATLAB unmanaged custom assembly is being unloaded

Hi,

I've inherited a SQL Server 2005 database 9.00.4035.00 SP3 Standard Edition that has a stored procedure call a Matlab assembly.  We applied SP3 to this server. 32 Bit 8 GB RAM (2.33 GHZ x 8CPU)

and now we are getting unloads due to memory pressure.. I assume that SP3 is more rigorous in regards to UNSAFE items.

The unload Message in SQL Server error logs
AppDomain 2 (BEST.dbo[runtime].1) is marked for unload due to memory pressure.

We get this type of scenario.

A. Matlab takes space creating memory pressure.
B. REDGATE SQLBackup6 Log Backups fail (due also to CLR memory issues?)
C. Matlab gets unloaded
D. We cannot recreate the assembly as there is not enough space left.
E. We need to restart the SQL Server service to have enough space to rebuld the assembly. The Buffer pool is full

I'm a bit wary to set a -g startup parameter to the sqlservr.exe since we are in a clustering environment without a real way to test it thoroughly first.   i.e my failover cluster server for SQL server is a DEV/QA sql server instance until the failover occurs. (I did not architect this by the way).

So does anyone have any suggestions in regard to getting MatLab to function again under SP3? It ran fine albeit likely obtrusively and rough under SP2.  No-one was watching for unloads for unexplained s

Cannot deploy assembly from VS.NET into SQL server 2005

Hi,
when deploying assembly from VS into SQL Server 2005, deployment fails with these error messages:

Msg 0, Level 11, State 0, Line 0
A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.
Msg 0, Level 20, State 0, Line 0
A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.

I'm deploying assembly with UNSAFE permission setting.
What's wrong, please?

Thanx, Fipil

SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprise fails with assembly error.

I have been trying to install Sql Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition on a 64-bit Windows 7 real machine (not a VM). Every single time it fails when installing the setup support files, during the "ExecuteStandardTimingsWorkflow" action. This is the dialog that comes up:

"The following error has occured:

An error occured during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.GridControl,fileversion="10.50.1600.1",version-"10.0.0.00000",culture="nuetral",publickeytoken="<number>",processArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80131047.

"

I have tried running the setup.exe from a 32-bit command prompt, and an elevated command prompt. I am logged in as a system administrator. I removed a version of SQL Server that was previously on the system sql server 2008. I also had rebooted before all of these installation attempts.
