In windows explorer, there is a folder named workspaces. But it is blank and doesnt show any workspaces. I am using office 2010 pro in Win 7 64 bit. As per this article http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sharepoint_workspace_development_team/archive/2010/06/08/surfacing-sharepoint-workspace-data-through-windows-explorer-and-office-applications.aspx, it should be possible.Amila Hendahewa | www.docudude.com/ | @docudude |

Is Windows Office 2010 required for SharePoint workspace usage in client machine

Hi,

To work with SharePoint workspace, does the client machine require Windows Office 2010.  I have a External list, which is connected to the BCS. The client does not have Windows Office 2010. Is Windows Office 2010 required for working with SharePoint workspace.

If yes, What are the ways to do Offline External List Capability with BCS other than SharePoint workspace?

Thank you

Issue with opening SharePoint library in Windows Explorer view

I am having trouble opening a document library in Windows Explorer view. The portal is MOSS 2007. I have installed Office 2007 and IE7 on my computer. The error that I get is
"Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to the server."

Office Sharepoint Server Search not working but Windows Server Search is.

I am having an annoying Issue with the Sharepoint 2007 Enterprise search functionality. I cannot get the Search Centre to work, the out of the box webparts crash the page except the Searchbox when the others are closed. The event viewer shows up numerous Errors (Office Sharepoint Server - EventID 7080) returns with and the same when trying to add a search related web part (e.g. core.results, federated etc). EventID 6398 - Timer is a regular as is 7080. Details below.

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).

Remote connections are connected, I am not 100% on the Instance name, (how would I go about checking this?)

Also I cannot access the link to SharedServices1 - Open Shared Services Admin site (not clickable), guess it's permissions but I seem to have full site permissions, I think I need SSP-Admin to make more edits to the Search, maybe this is related :s

Both Search Servers are runnig, I have tried everything I can think of to fix this and allow the Search Centre to work.

I am running Sharepoint 2007 on SQL Server 2008.

Video: Security and Deployment: Office Applications in SharePoint

Many times deployments are much more than a single Office Add-in. When additional items like Lists, Content Types, Workflows, etc. need to be deployed as well, you need a package that can be deployed by an administrator. This video discusses deploying complete applications to SharePoint. (Length: 9:30)

Sharepoint 2003 + Windows Terminal Server 2008 + Office 2007 problem?

Hi, We have a customer where some users runs Windows Terminal Server 2008 with Office 2007. They open documents from a Sharepoint 2003 site. When they open an excel sheet they get a button in the document which says "Server workbook: Click edit workbook to edit this workbook" and there is a button: "edit workbook" The users clicks "edit workbook" but get an error message saying there is no connection to the server.  They are able to edit the document, but not save it back to the sharepoint site. Most other users work on their local computer with Office 2003. Here, everything works fine and there are no button/message stating its a server workbook.   Is this caused due to some compatability issues between Sharepoint 2003 and Office 2007?   Best regards, Thomas Hansen ErgoGroup AS

Disable SharePoint Workspace alert on Windows 7 PC with Norton Firewall Provider.

My wife has a laptop with Windows 7 and Office 2010.  Recently she was playing with some settings on her PC and did something which now causes a "Microsoft SharePoint Workspace" alert to appear when she boots up the machine. She wants this message to go away.  I do not know how to do this, and searching for portions of the alert have lead nowhere.  Here is the exact message. SharePoint Workspace is unable to communicate through your firewall and will run with limited functionality.  To resolve this problem, enable SharePoint workspace as a Windows Firewall exception.  For assistance, contact your Windows administrator. To remedy this, here is what I attempted: Start > Control Panel > View by Small Icons > Windows Firewall This opens a dialog with the caption, "Help protect your computer with Windows Firewall".  Below that, there is an orange box with the notification, "These settings are being managed by vendor application NORTON FIREWALL PROVIDER." Of the half-dozen options that appear in the left navigation panel of that dialog, only 3 are enabled: control panel home, advanced settings, and troubleshoot my network.  The option to "Turn windows firewall on or off" is disabled. We have Norton 360, so I opened that program and chose the "Settings" tab, which displays a Firewall link to

SharePoint 2007 - Windows 7 - Explorer View (Leaves a copy in recycle bin)

Hi All, I am facing a strange problem with SharePoint 2007 & Windows 7. I open an existing word document from my PC(Windows 7) and click "save as" and provide a SharePoint document library file path (\\machinename\sitename\DocumentLibraryName) and save the file. The word file becomes visible in the Shared document library, BUT it leaves a copy in the recycle bin of the SharePoint site. Works Normal from Windows XP PC. Any clues. Would greatly appreciate anybody's effort. Regards KCM

Drag and drop to windows explorer of SharePoint site leads to 0KB file

I believe this issue got by so many people already.

We have a sharepoint site running on HTTPS protocol. There are some scenarios we get multiple documents from customers and need to move them to SharePoint to share them across organization. For this, what we are doing is, we are opening the library and from Actions menu -> Open in Windows Explorer.

The windows explorer is opening fine and when we tried to move the files from local system to windows explorer of the SharePoint site, it is failing to copy data and showing 0KB moved. And at the windows taskbar it is giving notification like "Got network delayed write fail message." when we are doing this on XP. On any other OS, there is no notification and not moving the file.

We are not able to understand the problem. Why it is not able to move, everytime it is copying 0KB.

We can do using upload multiple files feature, but we have to go back and forth between folders and it will slow down the process.

Please help me out, why it is happening... It is not network issue at all for sure.

thanks
