Single Sign On between Sharepoint 2010 and ASP.Net 4 site

Hi,

I have 2 web applications:

  1. Sharepoint 2010
  2. ASP.Net 4

Both of them are using Windows Authentication. They are on the same domain, but different sub-domains and different servers.

Can I make signed users to go from one site to another, without requiring to login again?

Thank you.

Can you install SharePoint 2010 and User PerformancePoint in a single server enviroment?

Hi I Installed SharePoint 2010 in a single server farm and I configured a Performance Point service aplication. Whenever I run dashboard designer it seems to work but it eventually crashes. I don´t know if I have any configuration errors. I read this Run the Secure Store Service on a separate application server that is not used for any other service. Create the secure store database on a separate application server running SQL Server. Do not use the same SQL Server installation that contains content databases. Here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee806889.aspx I believe this service is necesary to run connect to data sources does this mean it all cannot be run in the same server.

Single Sign On for Sharepoint and external applications

We would like to set up our Sharepoint 2010 Server to allow for single sign on. Right now when a user accesses the site, they are prompted for their username and password, whenever they open a file from a document library they have to put in their username and password. I am sure there is a way that we can set up Sharepoint to not require this every time they access the site and/or documents, by using their windows login like Dynamics CRM does.   Can anyone assist us in getting this set up properly? Thanks in advance!

WCF web service hosted in Sharepoint 2010 is called TWICE for a single client call. WHY??

We have WCF SOAP web service hosted in Sharepoint 2010 using service factory method and observe behavior which we cannot explain.

When authenticated web client invokes our service method “Generate” (synchronously) it is first get called with Anonymous credentials (SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser == null). Anonymous users don’t have enough permissions, so the first attempt of the service method to access a folder (SPContext.Current.Web. GetFolder("Shared Documents")) throws ThreadAbortException. But control does not return to the client. Instead the service method gets called AGAIN, now with correctly set SPContext.Current.Web.CurrentUser. Nowit works successfully to the end and result returns to the client.

The question which puzzles us a lot is WHY the service is called first time with Anonymous creds? We’d rather avoid this first invocation if possible.

Installing Sharepoint 2010 on a single machine

Hi guys,
For demo purpose i want it to install Sharepoint 2010 on a single machine (physical), so i here is how i proceeded:
  • Install windows server 2008 r2
  • Install SQL 2008 r2
  • Install Active directory
  • Install Sharepoint 2010
So after installing Prerequistes i launched the installation of Sharepoint 2010 with SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard, when i'm in the screen Specify Configuration Database Settings and i fill up the Database Access Account wich is an administrator Account, i have this message "The user name or password is incorrect" and it's impossible to me to move forward.
The user i'm using is an administrator account it has access to SQL server and it's defined on the AD of the local machine.
No matter the user i 'm using although it have access to SQL and defined as administrator i always receive the message saying username or password are incorrect.
I also tried to run this cmdlet New-SPConfigurationDatabase Same thing complaining about the user name and password .
i need to install the AD in the same machine because the main purpose of this demo is to show social feature capabilities.
Thank you for helping me to resolve this issue!!

New Sharepoint 2010 - Single server setup

How do you successfully change the default service account the Web Application Pool (80) runs under from 'Network service' to an alternate service account? I've changed the account in IIS and within the Central Administration panel and made sure the service account is listed in the 'Configured Managemed accounts" Central Admin -> Security -> Configure managed accounts-- but once I perform an IISRESET/noforce I am unable to access the site-- it keeps asking me for my username and password. If I change it back, I'm allowed in.

I've scoured the Internet looking for a resolution and although I've found a few hits, none of them identify the password failure problem.

How to get more information about the exceptions that can happen in SharePoint 2010 projects?

In case there is an exception anywhere in the SharePoint 2010 project (most common place an exception would happen is during deployment of your SharePoint project, custom deployment configuration or custom deployment steps), there's a registry key EnableDiagnostics available for you to use.
