Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hello, Recently i started to implement Sharepoint 2010 in my company and so far its been a great experience and really easy to setup. I have been able to put most of the features up and running while upgrading my knowledge(i had training for 2007 version) however i couldnt get the Visio Graphics Services working on a web part. heres the steps i did and the problem that follows up: - In the Administration Console in "Service Applications" i created an New Visio Graphics Application ( the service haves its own pool and user to manage the service) - Started the Service "Visio Graphics Service" in "Manage farm Services" menu - Uploaded an vdw files for testing - Opened the file in the document library, the file was opened in the browser so i belive the service is up and running - Created an "Vision web Access" web part in the testing site and selected the vdw file - The web part stays for ever in the "loading.." screen I had the ULS Viewer tool to check for errors but nothing showed up so at the moment i m clueless what to do. As anyone else had this problem before? any help or tip is apreciated

Web Parts: Use Windows SharePoint Services as a Platform for Building Collaborative Apps, Part 2

Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, which is part of the Office System, lets you create and manage virtual servers, site collections, sites, workspaces, and users. You can also use the Windows SharePoint Services object model to design and implement user-targeted applications. In the second part of a two part series, the authors take a look at the WSS and SPS object models, Web Part Page anatomy, creating and deploying Web Parts, and Web Part security. They also discuss Web Part infrastructure and how to create custom Web Parts.

Windows Media Services 2008 and the Media Web Part

I have Media Services 2008 installed and working (tested with Windows Media Player, works fine) and a SharePoint 2010 Enterprise installation. I want to use the Media web part to display content from Media Services 2008. Is this possible using an MMS:// style url? Or does the media web part only like http:// or "local" content ? Media Services 2008 is installed without http:// components at the moment, but I can't find any information about what the media web part supports so don't know if it will work with mms://

Moving part of the code/processing from Asp.net hosted in IIS to WCF-Windows Services will help to r

I have a web application with no user interface (GUI), this web application (asp.net) accepts some input from a program and doing some processing; In the Page Load event I am doing all processing and calling a WCF service, after receiving the response from WCF services the page get unload before writing the processing status/result to database) this asp.net application is hosted in IIS.   The WCF services is also hosted in the same machine in windows Services where IIS is hosted, I am concern about its performance of the application which is hosted in IIS.  Should I move some part of the code (processing) to another program say Create a new WCF Services and host it in Windows Services  so that the load on IIS will be reduce?  The new WCF Services will process some part of the code which IIS used to process, so helping IIS to reduce the load.       By moving some part of code from asp.net [processing] to another program hosted in WCF- Windows Services in same machine will able to reduce the load on IIS?   Please guide me.. Target audiences not working in excel services web part

My appologies i posted this originally in the pre-2010 forum So i'm reposting here: We have recently upgraded to Sharepoint 2010 and we're experiencing problems with the "target audience" field being available to the users. I am not the CA admin though so it'll make this a bit tough to get solved if the problem is there. What i'm looking for are the suggestions of things for me to forward to the CA admin to change or check if anything. We have a seperate Virtual Machine that is running 2010 that has this option available to users on that farm for some reason. however on our corporate farm we don't have that option available. Plus on top of this the quick launch items are not working with audiences as well to turn off the headers to links that have nothing in them due to security trimming on document libraries. I'm hoping that this being a more of an overview of things to check would help others who may have this problem as well. I've seen resolutions such as rebooting the server and such, however that's a bit lower level and we need some higher level things to check that may resolve the issue. Think the simple stuff first to check and lets work down the list. Doesn't matter how stupid it is but can we get a more compiled list of things to check to make sure that target audience visibility to users is enabled? Thanks!

SQL Server Analysis Services Filter web part.

Hi all In a NTLM farm with 1 SharePoint and 1 SQL server, I am using clamis based authentication for Excel Services app in SharePoint Server 2010. While all Excel documents work, I get error on "SQL Server Analysis Services Filter" web part. The filter works when I am logged on the sharepoint server and open the Intranet to use it, but doesn't work if I reach the Intranet by not logging on the SharePoint server. The error I get is on the filter web part: "An error occured while retrieving filter values (The connection either timed out or was lost). Anyone else that have had the same problem? Any ideas to troubleshoot? :) Regards

Visio Services on Sharepoint error

Hello I have seen other posts regarding this problem but no real solution other than using an RTM version of Visio. When I publish Visio drawings (.vdw) to our Sharepoint 2010 server, I get the following error Visio Services was unable to load this diagram because it was published with an older version of Visio. To resolve this issue, republish this diagram with an updated version of Visio. However my version is 14.0.476.1000 (32bit) which is newer than those mentioned in the other posts. The document makes it to the server just fine and can be opened in Visio from the server but when trying to view on Sharepoint, the error above is returned. Can someone please help? Thanks Thanks

CAFM/ Space Management using: Visio/ Visio Services/ SharePoint 2010?

We accomplish Space accounting using  Autocad and Archibus to calculate square feet on a facilities floor plan. We would like to have that ability to use Autocad drawings imported into Visio and use Visio services to calculate square footage information and publish the smart drawings on the web using Sharepoint.

Is there anyone that has accomplished this type of work using the Visio/ SharePoint?  Any help is appreciated.

Protect part of Excel sheet via Excel Services

Is it possible with Excel Services or other Out Of the Box standard features, to create a functionality as below description.

Reporting Services Chart in SharePoint Web Part, Broken Image Problem

I have a reporting services report that displays a dundas chart, it is a snapshot report executed daily.  When displaying the report inside a page viewer webpart or a report viewer web part in SharePoint, the first time after a recent snapshot occurs, the image shows up broken.  On refresh of the page the image is visible.

MOSS 2007
SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services NOT running in SharePoint Integration mode.

Any ideas or work arounds to get the image to display on the first load of the page or why the image is broken?  I've tried different report parameters, Format, ClearSesson with no luck.  Viewing the report in Report Manager works fine and also going directly to the ReportServer page is fine.  It only occurs when it's inside of SharePoint inside of the Page Viewer or Report Viewer web parts or even if I manually create an iframe in a content editor web part.

visio services - can't get rid of data refresh error

keep getting this error message on trying to refresh data

"Viso services was unable to refresh external data connections in this web drawing because of changes in teh structure od an underlying data source. one or more columns in this data source have been deleted after this web drawing was last saved."

The underlying data source has not been changed and I have tried re-creating the visio web drawing from scratch - always this error!

any ideas on how to progress?

2010 Visio Services Data Auto Refresh Issue

I have published vdw diagram in Sharepoint 2010 Shared Documents. The diagram data is linked to SQL database.

When I view the diagram in the browser, unless I click dedicated "Refresh" button on the top left at the sharepoint page, data is not updating.

I have changed all the SP 2010 Global settings to minimal value = 0 (as per previous post called 2010 Visio Services Data Refresh Issue).

Still you need to click dedicated "Refresh" button on the top left at the sharepoint page in order to see updated data.

In the article called "Visio Services for SharePoint 2010" is stated that new Visio service supports AUTOMATIC REFRESH.

Am I missing something? Is it possible to have a visio diagram with AUTOMATIC REFRESH published in SharePoint 2010?

I can do some workarounds like publishing in web parts page that has auto pooling, but my understanding was that the Visio diagram refresh is event based on data change only - means if data do not change 10 minutes there will be no calls?
