Content migration from MOSS Enterprise edition to MOSS Standard edition

Hi,     I have developed a web application using MOSS 2007 enterprise edition. I have customized the site using custom ASPX pages, custom Webpart and custom features. Also I referred http://blog.brianfarnhill.com/2009/03/19/changing-list-forms-through-code/ for updating the contents of list forms. I have configured SQL-Form based Authentication for this site. Now I have a need to migrate this site to an environment which has MOSS 2007 standard edition and use a Active Directory Authentication instead of SQL-Form based Authentication. So can anyone guide me wether this scenario is possible or it will create any compatibility issue?      Which are the precautions I need to consider for performing this task? I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks, Patav

Indexed Views are supported by SqlServer Standard Edition - why do all feature lists state the oppos

Hi there,

years ago I had already wanted to apply indexed views for a certain query tuning problem, but read that they are only supported in SqlServer Enterprise Edition. I came back to that topic recently, and again all the official documentation I found confirms that assumption (e.g. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993.aspx).

I gave it a try anyway, and could easily create indexed views on Standard Edition. I checked the execution plans, and the view's indizes were applied. The only small restriction I encountered was, that I had to supply a "with (noexpand)" query hint in the from clause. It even works on SqlServer 2000 Standard Edition.

This is such a valuable feature, probably seldomly applied, because articles and postings everywhere imply that Enterprise Edition is a requirement. I suppose it would be a good idea to correct Microsoft's documentation on that topic. Thank you!

Kind regards, Arno

Date and Time Functions in SQLSERVER

Date and time functions allow you to manipulate columns and variables with DATETIME and SMALLDATETIME data types.

1 DATEPART Function
2 DATENAME Function
3 DAY, MONTH, and YEAR Functions
5 DATEADD Functions
6 DATEDIFF Function
7 More SQL Server Functions

Data Types - Date and Time in SqlServer

Date and time values can be stored with either the DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME data type. The difference between the two is that SMALLDATETIME supports a smaller range of dates and does not give the same level of precision when accounting for time. The DATETIME data type can hold values from January 1st of 1753 to December 31st of 9999. The time is stored to the 1 three hundredths of a second and each value takes up 8 bytes of storage. The SMALLDATETIME data type can hold values between January 1st 1900 and June 6th of 2079. The time is tracked to the minute and each value takes up 4 bytes of storage. The majority of business applications can live happily with SMALLDATETIME, however, if you are in an environment where each second matters or you need to make estimates to the distant future (or past) then you have to resort to DATETIME. If you fail to specify the time when inserting a value into a DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME column, a default of midnight is used. If you fail to specify the date portion the default of January 1, 1900 is used.

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.
