Finding broken links in a web of Pages

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I have a dozen sub-sites all with large Pages libraries of .aspx pages created and maintained under the Publishing features on  MOSS 2007.  Some links also go to Document libraries. How do I detect broken links within the web of .aspx pages?

Unable to move Wiki pages with Bracketed ([[, ]]) Links

Hello,

I'm using Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (pre-SP1) to host a Wiki, and it's been a learning process as I've been going along.  In this process, I keep finding better places to keep Wiki Pages and Wiki Libraries, so I move things around to find the best fit.  I've run into a strange problem while moving my collection of ~100 Wiki pages, and I'm curious to see if others have it to.  The problem is, I cannot move or copy Wiki Pages that contain links to other Wiki pages using the bracket method (of writing a link as [[other page]]).

Here's how I reach the problem:

-Create 2 Wiki Pages Libraries,  I called mine Wiki PagesA and Wiki PagesB
-I go into my Wiki PagesA library and create a new Wiki page.
-I call it "linktohome" and enter only a single line in the body, "[[home]]"
-I can open it up and it works just fine and the link redirects me to the Home page in the local Wiki PagesA library so it's all good.
-Next in my main Site Collection that's hosting these libraries, I'll pull down Site Actions and go into Manage Content and Structure.
-I can browse into Wiki PagesA and the linktohome document appears
-But, when I try to copy (or move) linktohome to Wiki PagesB library I get an error that says:

When I try to copy or move wiki pages from one 'Wiki library A' to 'Wiki library B' through 'content and structure', I get an error for the pages which contain links to other wiki pages, does sameone has a clue how to fix this:

Why are my links to images in email alerts broken?

We have a blog site running on WSS 3.0.

We post to this blog using Microsoft Word 2007's blog publishing feature, and our blog postings include images.

Additionally, many of our users subscribe to our blog postings using Sharepoint email alerts. The problem is that the emails generated contain broken/missing images from the postings. Upon inspecting the source code of the email, the URL's are not full, but relative to the site root, for example, our site is at "http://www.someserver.com/blog", and the src attribute in the img tags in the email are only "/blog/......". If I look at the source code directly on the blog itself, the URL is full.

Does anyone know a workaround or a fix for this? Or are we doing something wrong?

High Performance ASP.NET - Speeding Up ASP.NET Pages

have been writing a series of blog posts, which I have named High Performance ASP.NET Websites Made Easy! There is no rhyme or reason to the order of these posts and certainly can be read in any order:

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Application Vs. Content Pages in SharePoint

SharePoint has two types of ASPX pages. One type is the application page, also known as a _layout page. The other type of ASPX page is a content page, also known as a site page. Each of these page types is stored in a different location in SharePoint. When developers create custom ASPX pages, they must decide on the page type.

Master Pages in MOSS 2007

'MasterPages' feature in sharepoint 2007 makes the entire customization job easy.In 2003 we used to face lot of issues to get the same look and feel and the standard behaviour for overall site. In 2007, customizing the look and feel for the entire site can be done in a simple way by using 'MasterPage' feature.

How to Pass Values Between Web Pages ASP.NET

You can pass information between pages in various ways, some of which depend on how the redirection occurs. The following options are available even if the source page is in a different ASP.NET Web application from the target page, or if the source page is not an ASP.NET Web page:

Use a query string.

Get HTTP POST information from the source page.

The following options are available only when the source and target pages are in the same ASP.NET Web application.

Use session state.

Create public properties in the source page and access the property values in the target page.

Get control information in the target page from controls in the source page.

Combine, minify and compress JavaScript files to load ASP.NET pages faster

Websites are getting more interactive these days and most of this interactivity comes from JavaScript. People are using different JavaScript libraries and frameworks to make their websites more interactive and user friendly.

Finding Rows in ADO.NET

ADO.NET implements three basic forms to locate Rows - The Find method as applied to the Rows collection, the Find method as applied to the DataView object and the Contains method as applied to the Rows collection.

DataRowCollection Find and Contains Method

The DataRowCollection is a major component of the DataTable. While the DataColumnCollection defines the schema of the table, the DataRowCollection contains the actual data for the table, where each DataRow in the DataRowCollection represents a single row.

You can call the Add and Remove methods to insert and delete DataRow objects from the DataRowCollection. You can also call the Find method to search for DataRow objects that contain specific values in primary key columns, and the Contains method to search character-based data for single words or phrases.

DataView Find and FindRows Method

Using the Find and FindRows methods of the DataView, you can search for rows according to their sort key values. The case-sensitivity of search values in the Find and FindRows methods is determined by the CaseSensitive property of the underlying DataTable. Search values must match existing sort key values in their entirety in order to return a result.
