How to filter view using ListViewXML with group by option?

I try to filter my view in list using ListViewXml property. The view has group by section. After implementing a filter for the view data under groups are the same(not filtered), but group rows show quantity of rows for each group  like filter is implemented. Any way to filter group or limit the view with recurring events??

It seems that recurring events (in Events view) cause greatlimitations in the views available. For example filtering or groupingon the start date of events does not work.I tried to use a calculated column that makes a 'Start Date' of theStart Time in order to filter on it, but the result is that only thefirst date of a series of a recurring task is shown, which of courseis useless.It seems that the Calendar view is the only way to limit views in day/week/etc.Did anyone else come up with an acceptable way to group or filterrecurring events?  Specifically filtering these recurring events by Week and Month.

Calendar View: Unable filter Recurring Event by Start/End Time and Group by Recurring Event View

I have just found several issues with Calendar View from WSS 3.0:

Unable to filter by [Start Time] and [End Time]
I am not sure why these 2 columns doesn't appear in the Filtering column in the View Settings. The workaround found in the internet is to create calculated column for Start Time and and End Time. However, it doesn't work for Recurring Event, the calculated column will show only first recurring event Start Time.

Unable to use "Group By"
When I create new view in Calendar using format: "Standard View, with Expanding Recurring Events", there is no option to specify "Group By". Anyone knows how to show all recurring event in List view and grouped by Start Time (or any other column).

Option to Group By: Content Type is missing from view settings.


In testing for migrating/upgrading our WSS 3.0 environment to SharePoint 2010, I have noticed that there is no longer an option to group list items by the Content Type column in view settings.  Is this by design, or a known issue that still needs to be fixed?  This is using the recent SharePoint 2010 Enterprise RTM.

Issue in Infopath 2007 browser form - cascading dropdown using owssvr.dll filter view


Referring the below link, I created a cascading dropdown. The parent dropdown has sharepoint list as datasource and the child dropdown has xml datasource that points to owssvr.dll filter view. The cascading drop down works fine in preview but throws error after publishing as admin approved form - "form cannot run the specified query" exception when trying to execute xml datasource i.e., when a value is selected in parent dropdown. The security is 'Full Trust". In the event viewer the error message states "401 unauthorised" for the user a/c. the xml data source is an approved udcx file and in central admin, have enabled cross domain for infopath service. I have tried different solution provided in tech forums but issue still exists. Not sure whether Im missing something. Can someone guide me in fixing this issue?

group member detail view

hi, i have add member group to my detail view. but it does not show the member group correclty. it shows a lot duplicated members. and members that are not in a group it shows that they are in the group. i know you can not modify the wss_conten database. how can i still use group member in dataview?

Group by library name using Data View Web Part

I'm using a data view web part to disply documents in multiple libraries.  Is it possible to group on the name of the library instead of grouping on an individual column? Thanks

scrollbar is not showing for sharepoint list with group by view

Hi, have created a Share point 2007 list having a huge data. I have created a group by view by grouping the data with category. My requirement is to show the data as web part on a page. When i did so, while expanding the group inside the web part, the web part is expanding. I want to keep the height and width of the web part fixed so that the layout of the page will not be ugly looking. But though I am putting the option for fixed height and width in the web part setting but I am not able to see the scroll bars. Where as I can see the height and width are fixed but could see a few data instead of all the data with scroll bar.   Please advice me if there is any solution or workaround.Deeptyranjan

Filter Infopath Form View issue

Hi every body I want to Filter Infopath Form view based on the Document Library Name , or url . for example i have two document library : users and Moderators . I need if user open the form in users document library , the form opens with Users View and if user opens the form in Moderators document lib the form open with the Moderator view . what should i do ? I tried to insert a text box in my form and set it's default value to use sharepointlisturl function. but i think the sharepointlisturl function only use when the form hosted from the lists , not document libraries. when my form hosted from document library the text box is empty. i don't know what to do !

How to filter a List View by multiple values for one filter field?

Hi, I need to create a dynamically created link to a List View with a filter on one field, but with multiple values. Example: http://<server>/Lists/<list>/Allitems.aspx?FilterField1=Name&FilterValue1=John/Jack/Jonas which should give me all items where Name equals John, Jack or Jonas. Is this even possible?

list view connection filter doesn't work

  I have  a custom display form for documents library with two connected List View WebPart. I am trying to filter documents at the second list view with the value from the first one. Both list views contain data from the same documents library. I have configured the connection, but second list doesn’t display any item, and it doesn’t matter which field I use for filtering. Also  for another document s library’s custom  display form  it work perfect.But there second list view contain data from another documents library. Not the same as at first   case. Any ideas with my issue?

group on or filter multiple datasets in 1 table?

I am fairly new to using BIDS, so please bear with me. I currently have 2 datasets, and 1 table.  The layout of the table is: Header HeaderGroup1 HeaderGroup2 Details FooterGroup2 FooterGroup2 Footer Group1 Footer Group1 Footer This is working, but what I need to do is figure out a way to add another Footer Group2 that includes an expression which involves either using data from a 3rd data set because of needing a different filter, or figuring out a way to filter the same data set twice in the one table.   I can give more specific info if you let me know what you need. links to data view group by headers

I have a content editor webpart with some image links,now my requirement is that some images on clicking should go to a dataview web part group header.how can this be done with just one data view webpart ,the way I am doing right now is create few data view webparts from the same list and group them but again filter them by each group,so instead of using just one DVWP I am using as many number as my group headers are there and then edit page to add a hidden CEWP on top of each DVWP and add a div tag to CEWP so that it can reference from other page with image links,I just want to use one DVWP for performance reasons.

Data View that handles both a Filter and "Show All"


I had a nice search facility up and running that filtered SQL data displayed in a Data View via a "contains" Filter clause on an entered string.

Pesky users now request a "Show All" button as well to display all data in the Data View.  For the life of me I cannot get this up and running - anybody got a tip/pointer?  I can't figure a combination of Filter criteria that would allow this.




"More" option for Summary view on lists


I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this question or if it's more of a design question but...

I noticed with 2010 that when lists such as announcements and links get beyond a certain quantity that the Summary view within the webpart shows a "More" link even if the webpart is set to only show say 5 items.

I've checked the XSL stylesheets and can't find any entries that would specify to show the More link once a list grew to a certain point. I've also checked the web part, list, and view settings to no avail. Any suggestions?

Group Calendar View


I created a team site from the template but am struggling with the calendar views.  When I load the page, I want to see each person in the group in the calendar web part.  By default, I can only see myself. 

The default view is set to "Group Week" so it would seem that everyone should be visible.  When I select People | SiteMembers, they show up so there isn't a permission problem.

Is there a different "group" than the site members which the webpart reads from?  I can't seem to find any info on this.
