Determining client type (Word/SharePoint UI)

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 01, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

Hi, When a user edits a document using word or SharePoint UI, I need to determine type of a client: Word or SharePoint UI. In my event handler, I need to take a specific action if he is updating a document using Word. The specific action to take is to email the user if his update violates our business rules. Currently we are not able to display the error message if he is using Word (see related thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointdevelopment/thread/b322dc52-0158-40ef-90f0-dc6cac13fc10) Is there a way to do this? I could not find any member of SPItemEventProperties class which gives me a clue about it. There is a Context member I could not use anyway.

implementing a search similar to what you have in google when you type in a word

Dear all;

I have a textbox and what I would like to implement is basically a situation similar to what you have in google when you type in a word. In otherwords,

in the textbox when you type in J, it should generate a list of names that starts with O in alphabetical order, then next when you type in o, so that now you have Jo, it should generate a list of names instead that now starts with Jo in alphabetical order, then again when you type in h, it should generate a list of names that starts with Joh and so on. A sample code could be helpful. Thank you. No Javascript of Jquery please. All help will be greatly appreciated.

Sharepoint site client access denied

I have an sharepoint application which was working fine.

I encountered a license expired message in sql server enterprise evaluation 2008 version after which i changed the date to 2 months earlier date, I have also changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\ConfigurationState to 3 after which sql server started working but the issue is that the clients are unable to access the sharepoint site completely. On providing the url the web site requests for logon information and then access is denied. The same url with the same authentication credentials is accessible from the server and the entire application works fine from the server.

From the  client the below error page appears.
