Inline Editing No Matching Records - No Insert

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hello.  I have been using Inline editing in Sharepoint Designer 2010.  Is it possible to have the insert link displayed even when there are no matching records?  The Default view shows edit, delete, and insert links.  But, the No-Matching Records template doesn't.  I think I can use Newform.aspx for the first record instead, but would like it to operate the same way for inserts as it does when there are records.  Thanks

insert new records in tables from dataset to database

I have 2 tables in SqlServer 2008.

Table1: T1id, SomeData

Table2: T2id, T1id, SomeData

I am using DataAdapter.FillSchema to create shema of tables in DataSet. I created DataRelation on columns T1id in both tables.

Now when i try to Update Sql Database T1id in Table2 remains 0 and not the value of T1id in Table1.

I can successfully update Sql Database if i fill DataSet with records first (Using DataAdapter.Fill), but that's not what i want to do. I don't need "old" records in my dataset. I want to use dataset just to store all imputs from user until the proccess is done and then insert all those records "at the same time".

I think i'm getting it wrong with ForeignKeyConstraints, maybe UpdateRule is not set to cascade, i just don't know.

I have been trying to work this out for 6 days now and i'm about to break something on half.

Can someone please guide me to right direction, maybe post some sample, anything.... please!

List view - inline editing with read only fields

I'm new to sharepoint and using SP2010. I would like to use the inline editing feature of list view and at the same time to lock some of the fields. Is there a simpler way to achieve this like adding some field property using SP designer?

Allow or deny roles to update, insert and delete records.

Hello, I have two roles "Admin" and "Basic". I also have a listview on the web page. My goal is that to make "Admin" role has the highest privilege to deal with records such as "insert", "update" and "delete". For the role "Basic", it only can update the records. Is there any sample code for that? Thanks.

I am very much new with NHibernate. I am inserting a new record in the table. However, it seems that it does not insert. Inline editing using Gridview and Ajax

Is there a code example out there that shows inline editing using the Gridview and using Ajax?

Insert on button event is inserting 2 records at a time

I have a form that is doing a simple insert, then a sub insert of a certain drop down selection is made. What i dont get is why the main insert is inserting duplicates and the sub works fine inserting 1 record per text as expected. I click the button 1 time, and when i check the table, there are 2 new records.. As you can see the insert is not wrapped with any conditions, once that is inserted i check if a slection was made and runs the sub insert.

My full code can be found in this post(http://forums.asp.net/t/1608619.aspx), but here is what i have for my button event.

protected void btnSaveServConfig_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        dac.insertServerConfigintosql(txtEmailLogin, txtEmailPass, Convert.ToInt32(ddlNumEmail.SelectedValue));
            if (Convert.ToInt32(ddlNumEmail.SelectedValue) > 0)
                 Dictionary<string, string> camValues = new Dictionary<string, string>();
                    foreach (HtmlTableRow row in table1.Rows)
                        foreach (HtmlTableCell cell in row.Cells)
                            foreach (Control control in cell.Controls)

SSIS : Insert, Update, Delete records from destination table by comparing records in source table.

Requirement: Inse

rt, Update, Delete records from destination table by comparing records in source table.

Update: if records exist in both the table compare them, and update value in destination table if value is different.

Insert: if record doesn't exist in destination table, add new record in destination table.

Delete: if record exist in destination table but not in source table, delete record from destination table.

----> I have created an SSIS package that does all this task but in order to perform delete operation, I have to store all records of destination table into a temporary table.
And since it's not the most efficient way, I have created another SSIS package by using Lookup & conditional Splits
method, now it works fine with inserting and updating information but I am not sure on how to handle removing record operation!

I would really appreciate if you could help me with this.

(In order to archive inserting and deleting records, I have referred following thread!
http://sqlblog.com/blogs/andy_leonard/archive/2007/07/09/ssis-design-pattern-incremental-loads.aspx )

using SSIS How do I insert records from connection1 into a a table with the same name on connection2

How do I insert records from connection1 into a a table with the same name on connection2 where the records in connection2 do not already exist?

The approach I'm trying is this: I have an OLE DB Source that selects records from connection1 (successfully). The flow into a recordset destination in the Data Flow. But I can't figure out how to select from this recordset using the FROM CLAUSE of a SQL Command in the OLE DB Destination component. Can someone point me to an example of this?

It seems like this would be a common task but I can't find any examples.

I do not need to loop through the records. There is no need to evaluate each record. I simply need to do the SSIS equivilent of the following:

insert into tableA (col1) where not exists (select col1 from tableB where tableA.col1=tableB.col1)

The reason I cannot put this in a SQL Task is that tableA is on a different server than tableB, hence the two connections.

SSIS 2008 Insert new records to a table

I'm new to SSIS 2008.

How can I retrieve the records from an oracle DB on one server and store it in a SQL Server table on the other server? This job should be scheduled to run daily.

The tables will have same columns. Copying data everyday.

Please provide me with steps and screenshots to do this.

Convert MS Excel to XML and then insert all data records into MS SQL

I am developing a web page for users to input data records. I am seeking the fastest way that users can upload their MS Excel files and the system can help data insertion into one data table. I know XML can insert data records into SQL database easily. Could any one give me some ideas how to perform this issue? Thanks a lot.

Return records from 1 table where no matching in 2nd

Hi.  I'm having trouble getting all the results I need with a query and hope its just my lack of experience.

Tables are Employee, Performance_log and Performance.

I need to see all Employees that have a performance_Log entry within a date range.  (done)

Then I was asked to include employees that do not have an entry in the Performance Log table but only if they don't have an entry within the date range previously mentioned.

I feel like I am almost there.  I can display all employees with performance logs and filter by date.   I can display all employees without performance logs within the same query.  My trouble is when an employee has a performance log outside of the date range.  The record should be included but its not.  I've tried using not exists() and not in() in the where but haven't figured it out yet.

Here is the query (the 4th line of the OR is a work in progress and is changing by the minute as I search for the solution)

The dates will eventually be replaced with variables and saved as a stored procedure to be called by Crystal.

  Employee.Employee_Id, Employee.Department, Employee.Active, Employee.NC_Type, Employee.NC_Full_Name,
  Performance_Log.NC_Performance_Note, Perfo

Editing the Data in a GridView

In addition to deleting a GridView's underlying data, another common need is to allow end users to edit the data displayed in a GridView. With ASP.NET 1.x's DataGrid control, editing the data is certainly possible, but requires creating three event handlers and writing a dozen or so lines of code. With the GridView and ASP.NET 2.0, it is possible to create an editable GridView without writing a single line of code! All of the necessary functionality is encapsulated within the GridView.

The GridView allows editing on a row-by-row basis. An editable GridView contains an additional column with an Edit button in each row. When the end user clicks on an Edit button that row becomes editable, causing the Edit button to change to Update and Cancel buttons and the other columns to become TextBoxes. The end user can then update one or more column values and click Update to save their changes.

GridView inline Master/Detail record display

This code drop is part of a smash and grab series. If you're in a rush, you can just grab this code and insert it into your application, no understanding is required. When you have some time (ya, right) you may want to review the source code.

Insert value using Table Value Functions

a real gem in Sql Server 2008. mostly people still using Stored procedure may be they shifted to SQL Server but they are not using TVF right now.
