Time Intelligence Filter without aggregation

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a line graph where I am trying to display the drop in a census over time. The report was built using the date level, so If I am showing the current month, or the last 10 days, The graph looks great. The problem is, I want users to be able to sort by Quarter, Semester, and Year. When I do this, I want to display the data by month. That is easy enough. However, when I do that, it adds every day of the month into one value, so instead of displaying a number like, "300," it displays something along the lines of "10k."  What I would like to do is only care about the last day of each month once you get the quarter, semester, and year levels. One solution I tried was setting my time intelligence as Quarter.firstmonth.lastday, Quarter.month.lastday, Quarter.lastmonth.lastday.  This works, if you happen to be in the second month of the quarter. I have also tried passing the second value as Quarter.(firstmonth+1).lastday and Quarter.(lastmonth-1).lastday, but dashboard designer doesn't like that syntax. I have also tried editing the aggregation settings on the measurements in my cube to "no aggregation," and "Last." When I do that and try to deploy the cube, it tells me I can't do that because I am not running the Enterprise version of SQL server 2008. I know the issue just has to be with my formulas, because it looked ok

Can´t get the time intelligence filter to work in PerformancePoint Services/Sharepoint

Hi all, I have created a scorecard in Dashboard Designer based on an SSAS cube which looks ok in both DD and Sharepoint. As I want to connect a time filter to this I have created a TI filter in DD. In Sharepoint I have connected the filter to the scorecard with "send performancepoint values to". In "configure connection" I set source value to "PerformancePoint Values: Formula" and Connect to to "Endpoint_TIFormula". I only need to filter on year and have set the TI properties on the cube. Selected time dimension is "Year", Hierarchy level is set to Year, Member is 2008, reference date is 1/1/2008 and I have associated member level Year to Time aggregation Year. The filter is set up like this in DD: it uses the same data source as the scorecard and I use a list view. I do get the filter to work if I specify one formula for each year (e.g. Formula: "Year" and "Display Name: "2010", "Year-1" and "2009" making up two rows) but that can´t be the right way to do it, right? What i would like is a multiselect tree view where I can choose the year I want and have them display on columns. I have tried the formula Year:Year-2 and in the preview I see [Date].[Year].&[2008],[Date].[Year].&[2009],[Date].[Year].&[2008]. However, in Sharepoint the filter only show on

Time Dimension Enhancement with Business intelligence Issue

Hi all, I want to add a year over year growth using the BI wizard (Time diemsion enhancement) but when I try to add this enhancement via the wizard then this last one has the button next disabled with a waning that says   A time dimension is required to enable this functionality. Ensure that you have a dimension of type Time, that contains at least one hierarchy with a level flagged as a time period. Inspite of the fact that I added that time dimsension with one hierarchy Time hierarchy Calendar Year Calendar Semester Calendar Quarter Time Key(With namecolumn defined as a named calculation that repsents the day with this format  yyyy, dd mm ) Me personaly I have a doubt about the last condition of the warning (with a level flagged as a time period) but I dont know exactly 1. If my doubt is right 2. What shoud I do to enhance the cube in this context using the time dimension enhancement The complexity resides in the simplicity

Scorecard Time Intelligence Question

I have what should be a very simple question. I have a score card that I want to use to display information from the previous month, and only the previous month. I set the time intelligence to month-1, but when I add information for the current month, it just adds to last month's goals. What can I do about that? Similarly, I would like to make a score card or some other kind of report that shows the month to date and how far off the target they are. Would I use monthtodate as the time intelligence?

Cannot View Dashboard with Time Intelligence Post Formula

I am using PerformancePoint DashBoard Designer to create a dashboard that allows user to select a date from the calendar that must be displayed by the Time Intelligence Post Formula filter, but when i try to Preview the dashboard, i get a blank page, and the following title : PerformancePoint[2] with the contexte menu.

Can you help me to resolve this problem, and viewing the dashboard with the calendar filter correctly?

Thanks all.

Calendar View: Unable filter Recurring Event by Start/End Time and Group by Recurring Event View

Hi All,
I have just found several issues with Calendar View from WSS 3.0:

Unable to filter by [Start Time] and [End Time]
I am not sure why these 2 columns doesn't appear in the Filtering column in the View Settings. The workaround found in the internet is to create calculated column for Start Time and and End Time. However, it doesn't work for Recurring Event, the calculated column will show only first recurring event Start Time.

Unable to use "Group By"
When I create new view in Calendar using format: "Standard View, with Expanding Recurring Events", there is no option to specify "Group By". Anyone knows how to show all recurring event in List view and grouped by Start Time (or any other column).

Thank you and apprecate for any idea.

Filter rows by Current time - MDX

I need to filter by Current time(reporting time).

DimTime has following fields.
Timekey , Time & other fields

Fact table contains the Time key

How do I do this in MDX?

sum the total year amount even if a time dimension filter exists

my need is to get the total of a year amount even if a time filter exists for the same year.

I have [Measures].[Amount] and a [Time] dimension and an hierarchy like [Time].[YearMonthQuarter].

In excel I filter [Time] hierarchy and I only keep the first Quarter.

I need to see a measure that will give me the total of year amount (not filtered).

Thank you in advance

Round off time to the nearest minute

How would you round this up to the nearest minute? There isn't a built in function to do this so you have to use a little bit of maths to get there. There are 60 seconds in a minute. We already have 38 seconds on the clock. So we need to add on 60 - 38 = 22 more seconds.

Using jQuery to Filter Table Rows

The project is using the .net GridView control, so I had limited control over the output HTML code. Still, I think this code can work for most tables. One thing to notice: you should use the class "filterable" on your table or on one of its parents for the code to work.
First, we need a text box:

GridView Multiple Filter AJAX Control

This AJAX control enables the user to filter data within any column inside a GridView. The user can add multiple filters and can delete existing ones too.

Performance Tests: Precise Run Time Measurements with System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch

Everybody who does performance optimization stumbles sooner or later over the Stopwatch class in the System.Diagnostics namespace. And everybody has noticed that the measurements of the same function on the same computer can differ 25% -30% in run time. This article shows how single threaded test programs must be designed to get an accuracy of 0.1% - 0.2% out of the Stopwatch class. With this accuracy, algorithms can be tested and compared.

Date and Time Functions in SQLSERVER

Data Types - Date and Time in SqlServer

Date and time values can be stored with either the DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME data type. The difference between the two is that SMALLDATETIME supports a smaller range of dates and does not give the same level of precision when accounting for time. The DATETIME data type can hold values from January 1st of 1753 to December 31st of 9999. The time is stored to the 1 three hundredths of a second and each value takes up 8 bytes of storage. The SMALLDATETIME data type can hold values between January 1st 1900 and June 6th of 2079. The time is tracked to the minute and each value takes up 4 bytes of storage. The majority of business applications can live happily with SMALLDATETIME, however, if you are in an environment where each second matters or you need to make estimates to the distant future (or past) then you have to resort to DATETIME. If you fail to specify the time when inserting a value into a DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME column, a default of midnight is used. If you fail to specify the date portion the default of January 1, 1900 is used.

How to programmatically add controls to Windows forms at run time by using Visual C#

Create a Windows Forms Application
Start Visual Studio .NET or Visual Studio 2005 or a later version, and create a new Visual C# Windows Application project named WinControls. Form1 is added to the project by default.
Double-click Form1 to create and view the Form1_Load event procedure.
Add private instance variables to the Form1 class to work with common Windows controls. The Form1 class starts as follows:

.NET 4 Web Application Startup Time

I was chatting with Jonathan Hawkins and some of the folks on the ASP.NET team about performance and Jonathan mentioned the startup time for large ASP.NET applications is improved on .NET 4. There are some improvements in the CLR and in ASP.NET itself that helped. If you have a giant app, you should do some tests.

Built-in Functions - Date and Time Functions
