SQL server 2008 r2 Data sync question???

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Sql 2008 r2 data sync, does it involve a db hosted by microsoft or does that involve us hosting the sync functionality locally?  I know we have db's local that need to be sync'd across a wan but does that happen in a db hosted in the ms cloud or does that have to do with a sync functionality that runs locally to keep my db's sync'd?   Thanks, SL

Import Excel data into SQL Server express 2008

I have recently installed SQL express 08 and created a table to import excel data into.  Im running on a windows 7 64 bit OS i5 processor.  I've disabled the firewall (temporarily) and will set the necessary ports once this is working. I run the following query:  (which i found from multiple sources on the net) Select   * From OPENROWSET ( 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database=C:\Users\Public\lenovoBkup\contacts\outlookFiles\noib2a.xls', 'Select * From [sheet1$]' )  and receive the following message: Msg 7308, Level 16, State 1, Line 1                                                                                  OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode.  (how did they know i was single and living in an apartment? lol) so after research of the following message i restarted the system and relaunched man

How to save Windows credentials to a data source in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 using Visual

I am trying to create a shared data source for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 that uses a specific Windows user ID and password to connect to the database. Using the Report Manager web interface, if I create a shared data source and specify "Credentials stored securely in the report server", I can check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. This tells SSRS that the user ID and password I specify are from a Windows user, not a SQL Server user. I want to create the shared data source using Visual Studio though. In Visual Studio I have an option to use stored credentials but there is no equivalent of the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. SSRS always assumes that user and password are for a SQL Server user, not a Windows user, and thus the connection fails. Does anyone know how to tell Visual Studio that the stored credentials are for a Windows user?

SQL Server 2008 R2 Installation and Service Pack 1 Question

I am migrating a SQL 2000 server to a SQL 2008 R2 server (on different physical servers) . When I ordered SQL Server 2008 the volume licensing allowed me to download sql server web 2008, sql server web 2008 R2 and sql server 2008 service pack 1. I don't know why I have three options to download. Don't I just need to just install the sql server 2008 Web R2? Are there any sql 2008 R2 service packs available?

Getting error while retrieving data from sql server 2008 to infopath 2007 in sharepoint 2007

Hi, I have created an InfoPath form in InfoPath 2007. In this form I am getting data from SQL Server. To do this I have created data source for SQL Server 2008’s Tables. I have created 4 connections for 4 tables. When I am previewing this form from InfoPath Designer 2007, it is working. But when I am publishing this, it is giving me an error ‘Can not update content type’. If I skip this error then my form published but when I open this form from Share Point 2007. It gives me an error:   There has been an error while processing the form. Click Continue to resume filling out the form. You may want to check your form data for errors. Click Start Over to load a new copy of the form.   An error occurred accessing a data source. An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server. Log ID: 6932 G. Goyal

SQL 2008 R2 Report Server - what sync method should I use?

Setting up a report server inside the same network for accounting to run reports on. Data can  be 1 day behind and would like to be able to add more indexes than the original server.  No data will be written back to the original  (pub) server.  I have about 5 databases on the sql server that I'll be replicating. In reading the book, seem Transactional is the best choice. Any ideas or new features I should try instead?

Transforing the Data from Oracle to SQL Server 2008

Hi all I have to create a SSIS package which can Transfer the Data from Oracle to SQL Server 2008. Every time when packages run it will suppose to create tables in SQL Server Database. I guess it is possible with export and Import, but the privies tables suppose be deleting before or after dumping.   Suggest me best method to do this.     Thanks in advance     SNIVAS

SQL Server 2008 Data Collection Queries

I am trying to find information on the new Data Collection functionality in SQL Server 2008. Mainly around how to properly query the tables..etc for building custom reports. Anyone find any good books, CBTs or have any queries already written? Everytime I try to search on the subject I just get a bunch of tutorials on how to configure it, which really doesn't require much of a tutorial if you use the wizard.John M. Incremental data load from MySQL database to SQL server 2008 using SSIS

I am looking for best solution to perform incremental data load from MySQL database to SQL Server 2008.  I tried to follow instructions from articles on incremental data load in SSIS  using MD5 hashes but I failed to make connection in Lookup transformation editor between MySQL Id (4 byte unsigned integer) and Id in SQl Server 2008 table which is  bigint. i tried to add  data conversion and convert MySQl Id to string. It works fine when you map this field directly to OLEDB destination but in Lookup component it failed.

Any input greatly appriciated.

I have a newbe question about sql standard 2008, How do I merge 1 row of data from another DB to the

Hi everyone,

I am new to data base type work. I have very little exsperience in database code. I set up an application that retrieves data from the UI that has four forms. The application calculates and modifies this data for storage in different fields in a database. The application itself is not very simple as to the operation of the print and rs232 operations. But I have all of that code written and have written code for updateing the local db with this information. I was able thru searches to find enough information to update the local db.

I have not been able to find any code example for merging 1 row of data from one DB to another DB. That has the same data table and fields in both data bases.  Now these DB's are set up exactly same except for DB name and Table name. They have exactly the same field and column names. The only difference is the data in the primary key field, the database that is local builds two rows that the key field has the same data except for one letter and is build at different times. The remote data base has the same data in the key field except it does not have the letter at the end of the data.

Optimizing Data Mining processing time for a Time Series model in SQL Server 2008 R2

Does anyone have any references around optimizing the initial processing time for a data mining model? Books, blogs, etc. I have the Wiley “Data Mining with SQL Server 2008” book, and while I’ve learned a lot from it, it doesn’t seem to cover much around trouble shooting things like processing time. I also have a few other books that have a chapter or two on data mining, but again just basic “here’s what it is and how to set it up”, nothing that quite covers trouble shooting or optimization. I’ve also checked out the various Data Mining blogs/sites.

I’ve got a Microsoft Time Series model I’m basing on a Cube. Very simple, trying to forecast sales. I have one dimension which is the list of products (about 1600), a second which is the time dimension, finally the measure is daily sales figures for each, about 3.2 million rows in total. On a brand new server, with two quad core processors and 16 gig of ram it took 40 hours to process. Seems rather high?

Sync Oracle and SQL Server 2008

Does anyone know of a way that I could sync a few contact info views from an OracleDB to SQL Server without spending thousands on syncing software?
