sql 2005 setup and windows 7

In the following tutorial, I cover the process of Setting up Windows Mobile 6 for Mobile Browser Emulation using the Microsoft Device Emulator. This enables a user to experience Windows Mobile 6 on a PC via Emulation without even owning a Windows Mobile 6 product. It can be a great way to test drive Windows Mobile 6 before purchasing a product with it installed. In our case, it allowed us to Emulate Windows Mobile Browsing so that we could optimize our sites for the Mobile viewing audience. Installation and Emulation is simple and fairly straight forward.

At MS SQL 2000, it has two groups of users - u1 & u2 which have the difference permissions to the tables & stored procedures.  It setups 2 roles - r1 & r2 to define two sets permissions and grants the permission (select, exec, ...) to these 2 roles - r1 & r2 in the defined Tables and Stored Procedures.  After upgrade from MS SQL 2000 to MS SQL 2005, it has the schema & role.  How to setup the role & schema to meet my requirement?

I wrote a simple socket program, which listens to the 82 port, then receives and sends data through it. I tested the program on my local machine and it works fine, but after I published the program onto my windows server 2008, it does not work anymore. I guess it should be the firewall causing the problem, so I added rules to allow 82 port for both in and out bound, and I also add my application to the allowed program list for passing firewall, but still doesn't work, how could I solve it?   The windows server 2008 machine has a public network IP address, while my workstation is in a local network without public IP address, I connect to server 2008 through a router which has a public IP address. Hi We are running: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard - 9.00.4294.00 (X64) Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 We have gigabit interface. Today we copied a file (using robocopy) from our databaseserver to another server (backup-server). The copy was started from the backup-server and source were specified using UNC. The copy were using about 20% of the bandwith (about 200Mbit). During the copy, sql-server reported several errors, for example: AppDomain 15 (mp.dbo[runtime].14) is marked for unload due to memory pressure. The client was unable to reuse a session with SPID 75, which had been reset for connection pooling. This error may have been caused by an earlier operation failing. Check the error logs for failed operations immediately before this error message. ***Stack Dump being sent to [PATH\SQLDump0005.txt Resource Monitor (0x1384) Worker 0x000000008000C1C0 appears to be non-yielding on Node 0. Memory freed: 0 KB. Approx CPU Used: kernel 15 ms, user 218 ms, Interval: 428541. So to me it appears that sql-server crashed during a file copy. We have 27 GB ram. With 24.5 GB dedicated to SQL-Server. The files we copied were quite large, some over 50GB. Can anyone advise the correct procedure for applying windows patches on a two node active / passive SQL 2005 cluster We have disagreements whether the node being patched is active or it should be passive, would appreciate any comments   Thanks

I reviewed lots of postings, still could not find an answer. If I choose Windows authentication: - with TCP/IP and "Dynamically determine port" checked, I get the following error "The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection; - with Named Pipes, Server Name & Pipe Name as "VSAXAONG", I get two errors, one after the other on the same pop-up:       Connection failed  SQL State 01000  SQL Server Error 1385 [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [Named Pipes] ConnectionOpen (Connect()).       Connection failed  SQL State 08001 SQL Server Error 17 [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [Named Pipes] SQL Server does not exist or access denied. If I choose SQL Server authentication and fill in the password - the ODBC connection works fine. I have to say that I created two different logins on the server, one for Windows authentication, and one for SQL Server authentication - both for the same Windows user name. I would appreciate any help I can get on this.  Thank you all in advance.

I have been trying to figure out how to fix this problem for the past couple of days and I was unable to find an answer to my specific problem in the forum.My OS is Windows XP Professional SP3 on MacBook Pro, using Parallels Desktop 4.0. Every single time Windows update tries to install SQL Server 2005 SP2, it fails. I am using Business Contact Manager with Outlook 2007 and SQL Server stops randomly and I am forced to restart the software. I am not sure if it is relevant to this specific problem but I thought I would make a note of this.I have downloaded SP2 and tried to install it locally but that did not work. Hi, I am trying to load SQL Server 2005 Developer on my home computer - with Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3. Every time I run the Setup.exe a message box pops header: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup; Message: Setup Faile. There is not explaination or help.
