processing measure group : memory error : the operation cannot be completed because the memory quota

Hi, I'm stucked with this problem. Untill last week, the cube processed without any problem. Since last week, I'm getting this error. I have been searching in different forums, and I tried some suggestions, like changing memory limit properties, ... It is getting worse.. So I reset all properties to default again. I am running SQL-Server + MS-AS 2005 SP2 on server with 4GB of memory. This is a dedicated server, nothing else is running on it. The fact table has +/- 14 million records, several dimensions en 2 measure groups. I don't have problems to process the dimensions, but when I try to process the cube or the measure groups of that cube separately , the error persists. I have changed the datasource view, and replaced the fact table by a Named query. Even when I put a 'WHERE datapart( year , fact_date ) >= 2009 ' clause to reduce the number of records to +/- 5 million, I'm still getting the error. I don't understand what is wrong, the cube always processed since +/- 2 years. As I said, I have found a lot of this kind of Issues on different websites, I have been trying to change some properties. But this still does not solve the problem. Could it be that MS-AS settings are corrupt somewhere ? Is it a good idea to re-install MS-AS 2005 + SP1 + SP2 ? Or is there another reason possible ? I really appreciate any kind of help, because I'm

Hi All: We have installed SQL Server 2008 Integration Services in a Windows 2003 machine. RAM capacity is 4GB We have a created a sample project with necessary data source, data view, cubes and dimension definition. When we try to build the cube, it is throwing the below exception Memory error: The operation cannot be completed because the memory quota estimate (1504MB) exceeds the available system memory (1331MB). We even tried with data view of few columns but encountering the same error. How to fix this issue? Please help Regards, Swami

Out of memory error during processing of OLAP database

Hello We have a problem with processing our customer's database. When we use processing in one transaction, processing often fails with out of memory error. This doesn't happen if we use seperate transactions for each processed object. Is there any way, how to predict (count) necessary memory, needed for processing the OLAP db?   Thanks a lot!!!   Martin Honajzer

sql 2005 sp2 memory error FAIL_VIRTUAL_RESERVE

We're running SQL Server 2005 SP (9.00.4035.00) 32 bit on Windows Server 2008 SP2 Enterprise.   The server has 8gb of RAM and is only used for SQL Server.  Since Windows 2008 SP2 was installed on 8/23/2009, once every week or so the server has become unresponsive.  Early in in the course of the problem I notice the following error in the SQL Server error log:  Failed Virtual Allocate Bytes: FAIL_VIRTUAL_RESERVE 1048576 That's followed by the output of DBCC MEMORYSTATUS, which I'll include at the end of this post. After that, things work normally for several hours, except for some occurences of Downgrading backup log buffers from 1024K to 64K That appear in the SQL Server error log when our transaction log backups occur.  Some time after that, we begin to receive Event ID: 701 There is insufficient system memory to run this query. In the event logs of our server. At that point, the server becomes unresponsive.  Restarting the SQL Server Service resolves the issue. Is anyone else experiencing this? It's only been happening 1 time per week (not consistently the same time) and has only occurred since Windows Server 2008 SP2 was installed.  I don't know if that's related, but it's the only real change to that server.  Workload has been consistent on that server for months. Can someone please help? Thanks. Here's the DBCC output. Memory Manager     VM Reserved =

MEMORY FULL.NOT enough memory for operation. in Crystal Report

AdomdDataAdapter.Fill returns memory error when querying an SSAS Cube(2008)

For certain SQL's I will get the following error when calling the Fill method on an AdomdDataAdapter object. "Memory error: While attempting to store a string, a string was found that was larger than the page size selected. The operation cannot be completed."   Snippet of Code: DataSet ds1 = new DataSet(); AdomdCommand acmd1 = cn1.CreateCommand(); acmd1.CommandText = "SELECT ..."; AdomdDataAdapter ad1 = new AdomdDataAdapter(acmd1); ad1.Fill(ds1);   Now when we run this query in Ms Sql Studio we don't get any errors but the query returns 1 row with over 40,000 columns. I'm guessing the # of columns might be an issue but not sure.   When doing a Google search it appears that this problem was found in the 2005 and fixed in that version. Have any of you come across this problem?

SSAS 2008 - Memory Error

During our unit and load testing of the SSAS database using VSTST 2010 Ultimate; we are getting a memory error with some of our MDX queries (below).  Futher analysis showed: The adomdDataAdapter "Fill" command is our error point The error is occuring when the result data set has getter than 16,384 Columns; actual returned column count is 41,339 columns - business requirement does not let us change this query at this time. The MDX query works fine in MS Excel 2007 The MDX Query works fine in MS SQL Studio 2008 How can we resolve the unit test data set with such a large column count? Memory error: While attempting to store a string, a string was found that was larger than the page size selected. The operation cannot be completed. Hello,Please bear with me as I am no Sql Server guru, but am getting this error that is preventing me from continuing with my development work.  I am the only developer on my team running Sql Server 2005 and it has been working just fine for the last week.  I opened the Management Studio this morning, just like every other morning and got this error:TITLE: Connect to Server------------------------------ Cannot connect to (local). ------------------------------ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233) Of course the help page says no help is available.  I have googled myself sick and still have not found a way so resolve this...has anyone else had this error and/or a fix?  I am using XP Pro SP2...any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Steph

Newbie Quest: In Memory Workflow Error on Simple App

I'm new to workflow and am working through a book example and can't seem to understand an error. The goal of the example is to use a workflow in one form and then persist it and pick it up on another form.

In the below code, when the call to the event is made, I get an in memory workflow state exception. The WF has been unloaded or removed etc.

I'm not sure of the issue, it appears the wf is going idle and being persisted before the event is even rasied but I am not sure how to get it to persist at the correct time. When I get the error,  I can see it in my instancestate table, but I'm not sure what the fix is. I have played with the loadinterval and ownership durations when setting up the WF service to no avail. If i set persist on idle to false then of course it works as it stays in memory and doesnt get presisted, but I want to pick the workflow up on another form so then that of course doesnt work since its not persisted.  A standard google on the error didnt come up with much. The sugested links when posting this question also didnt seem to have anything relevant.

I'm hoping this is just a common issue and as a newbie i'm not seeing it. below is the code where I start the workflow and raise the event. I can post the set up of the persistence service if needed as well.

// Create and start a workflow instance

Does SSIS Container release memory when it's completed

Let's there are multiple containers in a package, each container has mutiple Data Flowss. Does SSIS release memory when one containers task is finished?Or it wait until all package finished.

Memory error: Allocation failure : Not enough storage is available to process this command. .

I get the error message above. Cube has 3 measure groups, 1 main fact and 2 many to many facts. Main fact has 450k rows, other two have 165 rows and 2200k rows. It also has 4 dimensions. Dimensions have max 10000 rows.

I get the errors when I add a "calculated" fact to the the main fact group, which is a distinct count on a key. When I remove that fact, the error is gone.

I am using sql 2005 enterprise with the latest sp's and patche on a windows 2003 server with 4GB 32 bit. Any ideas ?

Alter measure group: Impact on cube processing?

Hi All,

I have a XMLA script to alter source column (<ColumnID>) of a measure. I would like to know
following regarding the script:

1 - Do I have to 'Process Full' the cube or other processing options are applicable?
2 - The cube takes 2 hrs to process. Will there be reduction in process time processing the cube
after running the script or will it take the whole 2 hrs?
It running cube on production so I would like to minimize the impact of the alter script.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Server out of memory error in a LIST (anonymous site) that has eventhandlers

Scenario: We have a sharepoint site on wss 3.0 set to anonymous access. It has couple of lists and the pages render fine to any user. The moment I associated eventhandler to a list, started getting 'server out of memory'. Removing eventhandlers works fine but without eventhandlers I can't write business logic.

Searched so far and found that people have suggested to use guest account or some other account. Still looking into this so far.

Does anyone has better resolutions? Has Microsoft released any solution / hofix so far?

[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Shared Memory Provider: Timeout error [258]

Hello All,

I am using MS SQL SERVER 2008. Im making an application which queries trillion of records. Im using PHP as scripting language. For those functions , which query database and 200 (approximately) rows of DB are returned, everything works fine. But if I query database and a large recordset should be returned, the following error is thrown:

Array ( [0] => Array ( [0] => 08S01 [SQLSTATE] => 08S01 [1] => 258

=> 258 [2] => [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Shared Memory Provider: Timeout error [258]. [message] => [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Shared Memory Provider: Timeout error [258]. ) [1] => Array ( [0] => 08S01 [SQLSTATE] => 08S01 [1] => 258

If I see the error log it shows:

Reading JPEG properties gives Out Of Memory error

I've written some code so that I can select images from the server to display on my web site. It works fine in folders with around 100 images but in one folder which has 400 images I get an Out Of Memory Error. It only reads 144 images then gives the error. Can someone help me find out how I can fix this? Should I be disposing of something in this loop? Or is something else causing the error?
