Custom DLL vs Developed Component

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
OK, so I had the barcode issue a few days ago. Edges of bars are being blurred. So, if I make a component, will this business go away? Do I get passed a graphics object that I draw on, or what? I need to make sure that I don't waste 5 days of effort and frustration, and wind up with the same mishmash.

Custom SSIS Data Flow Component Not Showing in Toolbox or GAC

Hello - I have created a very simple data flow component for SSIS (Actually, I am following this example:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=1C2A7DD2-3EC3-4641-9407-A5A337BEA7D3&displaylang=en).  However, when I register the DLL to the GAC, I am unable to find the assembly in C:\Windows\Assembly - even though the GACUTIL says "Assembly Registered Successfully".  Furthermore, after copying the DLL to the PipelineComponents folder for SSIS (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\PipelineComponents), it does not show in the "Choose Items . . ." dialog box of SSIS.   I am running SQL Server 2008 Dev edition, Visual Studio 2010 with .NET 4.0, and Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit edition.  Any assistance/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Problem with Update of Sharepoint Taxonomy Fields in custom developed Content Types

Dear all, we developed an solution on sharepoint 2010 for one of our customers with custom lists and content types with fields from the managed meta data store. As recommended we developed everything in features & solutions so that easy deployment is possible. Adding metadata to the termstore seems to work without problems, but today we stepped over an confusing issue: Our customer changed the default label of an term in the metadata term store, but the label did not change in listviews and detailviews of items in the specific sitecollection. In editview we see the correct label. After searching a while we discovered the connection between the sitecollection and the term store, the hidden Taxonomylist (/Lists/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx) in the sitecollection, which seems to map the terms. After testing we discovered that the term/label did also not change in the hidden taxonomy list. The Timerjob “Taxonomy Update Scheduler“ is running hourly with success and we also tried to start the job manually, but the label did not change in the hidden list. Also there are no errors in the logfiles in verbose mode. We also tested to create a managed metadata field manually, put it in a list and after that, changed the label. For whatever reason the update of labels on manually created fields works without a problem. Our lists, content types etc get created pr

Could not determine the threading model of the Custom Resolver Component from the registry.

I have an application that uses web synchronization and performs merge replication programmatically using RMO. A number of the tables in the publication use a COM-based custom conflict resolver that I have written in c#. I have an installation package that creates a virtual directory containing the replication listener (replisapi.dll) and installs the conflict resolver. This week the package was deployed on a 64-bit Small Business Server (SBS) 2008. The first subscriber was able to synchronize successfully but subsequent syncs and syncs by other subscribers resulted in the following exception: Could not determine the threading model of the Customer Resolver Component from the registry. In the registry on the server the ThreadingModel value of my conflict resolver was set to Both and I was able to resolve the issue by changing the value to Free. My first question is why when using the Both model would the resolver not simply be loaded in the same apartment as the merge agent? My second question is whether I have plumbed for the correct alternative of Free (rather than Neutral or not specifying a model)?

Overriding Existing Custom Destination Component

Hello Guys,

We have the following requirement.

We need to create a custom component, which will be put in our existing ETL Packages. This component will call the Rules engine and will send the data to the destination. I want something which can override the Existing OLEDB Destination component. i.e. a container control which will call Rules engine + the custom destination component.

The idea is that i will need to modify the existing ETL Packages. The only change i need to do is to replace the OLEDB destination component will this Custom Component and no other change should be required.

Can you please suggest, which is the best approach and any articles or code for direction.

How to get mapped column names in custom pipeline component?

Source-->Custom Pipeline component --> Destination

Source has 3 columns say C1,C2,C3

Destination has 3 Column say Col1, Col2, Col3

How can I get the column names mapped in the destination. I need this information within the pipeline component.

Custom Controls in C# .NET

Embedding user controls in a Windows form is just like adding a simple button or text box that are already provided with .NET. These basic controls were written essentially like you code your own controls. Typically the controls you design are to be used in multiple forms or to modularize your code. These reasons help reduce the amount of code you have to type as well as make it easier for you to change your implementation. There should almost never be any reason to duplicate code because it leaves a lot of room for bugs. So, implementing functionality specific to your control in the control's source code is a good idea. This reduces code duplication as well as modularize your code, which is a good programming guideline.

Writing custom MembershipProvider

ASP.NET Membership mechanism allows to use the build-in server tables to store and retrieve user data. By default, this mechanism can only be used with SQL Server database to which Microsoft provides suitable MembershipProvider class.
Inheriting from this abstract class, developer can use his own table(-es) from any database and use any database engine other than SQL Server, like Oracle, DB2 etc.

Custom Editing Behavior for DataGridView TextBox Columns

For various reasons I'm using a DataGridView instead of a ListView, and while configuring the DataGridView to look like a ListView wasn't much of a problem, there's one thing that got on my nerves, which is the behavior of textbox cells in edit mode: It is much too easy to leave the edit mode accidentally, simply by pressing the cursor keys at the wrong time. For example when the text caret is positioned behind the last character of the textbox cell content, and you press the right arrow key

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).

Custom views on .aspx webpage

Hi again, i have a client that needs me to create a custom view on thier webpage similar to Microsoft Word.

It goes about that, when I click on an image it redirects me to another page and must create a custom view for a certain paragraph on that page. I am not sure how to do this and wonder if anyone knows how.

How to implement custom HttpContext for each request under class that implements IHTTPHandler

Hello All,

I created an application and implemented IHTTPHandler for all incoming request ending with ".aspx" extension.

Under "ProcessRequest" module, I am creating an instance of HttpContext (with URL attributes different from my application's URL i.e. if I am working on localhost then speciying Yahoo.com as its URL) and assigning it to "context" which comes as method argument.

After redirection, an error is generated. Also, the custom HTTPContext is not passed to the requested page (default.aspx, in my case.)

Code is as follows.

    Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As System.Web.HttpContext) Implements System.Web.IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
            Dim requestedUrl As String
            Dim targetUrl As String
            Dim urlLength As Integer
            'Save settings which will be used while redirecting to appropriate page
            requestedUrl = context.Request.RawUrl
            If requestedUrl.IndexOf("?") >= 0 Then
                targetUrl = requestedUrl.Substring(0, requestedUrl.IndexOf("?"))
                targetUrl = requestedUrl
            End If
            If targetUrl = Nothing Or targetUrl.Length = 0 Then
                targetUrl = requestedUrl
            End If
