Creating Event Handler in Code behind

Hi, so I have a control that is created in the code behind and generates fine but I can't figure out how to create an event handler for it.  I've found plenty of examples for it in C sharp, but none of them seem to apply to VB.  What I want to do is essentially this:

myDropDownList.SelectedIndexChanged = "Event to do here"

but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

creating a code based on the evaluation

I would like to create a simple program, like a game, but so far without any graphical interface. Only a code, supported with some numbers, so that the user will know whats going on in the background.

I was thinking of creating a racing game (like formula 1 or sometihng similar), with available data (attributes) like:

Driver: age, agility, concentration, experiance, stamina,...

Car: engine, chassis, tyres

Security: Manipulate Privileges in Managed Code Reliably, Securely, and Efficiently

When the author was faced with implementing support for changing a security descriptor on an object, he noticed there was not support for that operation in .NET. So he devised two solutions to the problem: the first, simpler one, is tailored to the .NET Framework 1.1 and can be used today. The second solution incorporates several advanced features available only in the .NET Framework 2.0. Both are presented here.

Smart Tags: Realize the Potential of Office 2003 by Creating Smart Tags in Managed Code

While you may well be excited about the prospect of building managed smart tags, there is little information available to help you create them using .NET. In this article the author fills in the blanks. Along the way he discusses the Microsoft Office Smart Tag List XML schema, advanced managed smart tags for Office 2003 and Office XP, and deploying these features in an organization.

Creating .NET Assemblies That Aggregate Data from Multiple External Systems for Business Connectivit

This article describes a quick, four-step process for creating a .NET assembly that BCS can use to retrieve external data for SharePoint Server 2010 by using Visual Studio 2010.

Creating a table-valued function on a user defined type in SQL Server CLR

We would like to be able to create a table-valued function on a user defined type.  We would like the syntax in SQL to look like it works for the XML nodes function:   DECLARE @myXml XML = '<a><b>1</b><b>2</b><b>3</b></a>' ; SELECT  node.query('text()') FROM    @myXml.nodes('a/b') nodes (node) ;   In other words, in the FROM clause, we can access the "nodes" method of the xml variable and it returns a rowset. Thanks!

Iterate through rows of dataset in report's custom code

Hello, How can I iterate through the rows of a dataset in the custom code? I have a report containing a dataset. I pass the dataset as a parameter to the custom code function. But what then? Where is a reference about the available members etc.? Here is my dummy sample code so far: Public Function ShowParameterValues(ByVal ds as DataSet) as object() Dim codes() As Object Array.Resize(codes,dc.???.Count) codes(0)=ds??(field???)(row??) return codes End Function As the task I want to accomplish is very simple, I want to keep it in the custom code instead of writing any custom assemblies etc.   Thank you!

External Code Assemblies, Report Subscriptions, and configuration files

I've got a report that relies on a very small external assembly for data for one of its fields.  That assembly, in turn, relies on some values from System.Configuration for portions of its work. I have the configuration keys and values running fine in the web interface, set up in web.config, but when users set up subscriptions for the report it runs fine but doesn't retrieve the configuration values from web.config (as expected) nor does it retrieve them from rsreportserver.config, where I have tried them in the root of the config file as <add key=... /> entries and also by wrapping them inside an <appSettings /> node.  I have also tried them in an appropriately-name config file in the bin directory.  In all cases the report is fine except the field that relies on the external assembly, where I recieve an error indicating that there's missing information (the config vals are used in a String.Format() call): Value cannot be null. Parameter name: format at System.String.Format(IFormatProvider provider, String format, Object[] args) at ExternalDBFunctions.ExternalSelectors.GetNotificationStati(String NotificationID) mscorlib When I remove the config values from the web.config, the web interface shows exactly the same error. Where should these configuration values go?

Calling Serverside PageMethod function from an external page Client Side Code ?

there is many examples on the net about this issue .like this :http://sappidireddy.wordpress.com/2008/03/31/how-to-call-server-side-function-from-client-side-code-using-pagemethods-in-aspnet-ajax/But all javascript codes are in same aspx file including codebehind WebMethodsI wantto call a pagemethod from a js which is in another page.something like this : (javascript code but not in same aspx)PageMethods("www.externalpage.com").GetContactName(ctrl.value, CallSuccess, CallFailed, dest)).or calling WebMethods from javascript must only be defined in codebehind with linked aspx fileonly avaible in same aspx ?cant I call a Webmethod in a.aspx from a javascript in b.aspx ?any clue ?thanks.

Can you call a javascript function from code behind?

Creating non-text ToolTips in code

I am trying to create a non-text ToolTip in my code like this (where sp is a StackPanel):                 if (helpText != null)                 {                     ToolTip tt = new ToolTip();                     RichTextBox rtb = new RichTextBox();                     rtb.Document = new FlowDocument(new Paragraph(new Run(helpText)));                     tt.Content = rtb;                     sp.ToolTip = tt;                 } This must be calling the ToString() method of the RichTextBox, because all I get in my ToolTip is "System.Windows.Controls.RichTextBox". Can you please tell me what I am missing? Thank you!

Calling function from code behind

 I need help putting together code that would call the below Java function in asp vb 2008. Thank you.

Server Side Code Not Firing After Javascript Function

I have a group of buttons and a text box which I have been using for paging. The user is able to type a number into the text box and either click the "Go" button or hit "Enter" for the paging to occur. To have the "Enter" button work I had to turn the "UseSubmitBehavior" property to false for all of the buttons except the "Go" button.

Now I am trying to add a javascript function that shows a confirm box when the user clicks on a paging button. If the function returns true, the client side code should run. If the function returns false then nothing else should run. I have been successful with getting this to work for the "Go" button but it won't work for any of the other paging buttons because I have "UseSubmitBehavior" set to false. Can anyone think of a way to get this to work with the other buttons?

Thanks in advance for the help.

<asp:Button ID="btnFirstPage" runat="server"  Text="<<"  OnClick="PagerClicked" OnClientClick="return unsavedChanges();" UseSubmitBehavior="false" />
<asp:Button ID="btnPreviousPage" runat="server"  Text="<"  OnClick="PagerClicked" OnClientClick="return unsavedChanges();" UseSubmitBehavior="

how to include javascript function in code-behind

I'd like to include the following javascript in code-behind with the "ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock" feature.  Any ideas?

<asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblGender" onchange="ToggleTextBox(this);" runat="server" />
    <br />
    <asp:TextBox ID="txtMaiden" runat="server" />

<script type="text/javascript">
        function ToggleTextBox(Source) {
            if (Source.selectedIndex == 2)
                document.getElementById('txtMaiden').style.display = 'block';
                document.getElementById('txtMaiden').style.display = 'none';

Manipulate a dataset in a Gauge

I have a dataset based on a stored procedure that is returning ID, Amount, Category, SubCategory, PayType.  I am using this same dataset for about 5 other gauges on the same page by using filters on the gauge to categorize and sum up amounts for me based on Category and SubCategory.  I have one gauge that I want to use this same dataset for, however in this case I want to basically filter by Category X and then subtract the Sum(PayType1) from Sum(PayType2).  I realize the below formula doesn't work, but an example of what I wanted is sort of:

=SUM(IIF(Fields!PayType.Value, "Dataset")="Pledge", Fields!Amount.Value, Fields!Amount.Value*-1.0)

So I want to subtract all the 'payment' PayTypes from the 'pledge' PayTypes.  Is there a way to do this with the dataset I have already called?

I realize that I can create another dataset and do the calculations there and have it returned, and this may even be the better way.  I just wasnt sure if it took less resources to just filter the dataset I already have returned, or to hit the server with another stored procedure call.

Any thoughts?
