i am searching a record from my database and displaying it in gridview now i want the comments should be updated as per the record which is being searched
For E.g if record No.3 is searched then only i can update record no.3 and i don't want rest of data to be shown
now what is happening when i click on edit my whole table is being displayed
this is bcuz i made one method gridfill() which i m calling everytime if i m doing grid row editing,row cancelling and row updating
how i can resolve this thing
protected void GridView2_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e)
GridView2.EditIndex = e.NewEditIndex;
protected void GridView2_RowUpdating(object sender, GridViewUpdateEventArgs e)
string id = GridView2.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells.Text;
t = (TextBox)GridView2.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells.Controls;
string query = "update user1 set comments=@comments where id=@id";
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(connstr);
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(query, con);
I've got a gridview I would like to let the user edit a couple of columns. Seems like everything I'm coming across so far makes the entire row editable.
Hopefully the solution isn't too complicated. Can someone point me in the right direction?
I am coding a .cs file that handles the metadata for a particular table. I am putting a custom validation that allows me to update or insert only if the PubMedID is not already in the database. This would be easy except that the PMID should also be allowed to be null as some of the references in the database were not from PubMed. So i perform a query on the database to see if there is already an identical PMID in the database. This works great when using Insert. However, when using Edit, it does not. The PMID is already in the database because the one currently being edited has the same PMID!!! So I know exactly how to change my query etc. However, I do not know how to tell from inside this Edit/Insert agnostic page, which one it is being called from. Thanks for your help!
My project includes a grid view which displays information of inventory items (Assets), data is quried from AssetTable. The GridView has a command field to allow editing, below is a description of the tables and how data is displayed
BuildingTable: (BuildingID, BuildingName)
ItemTemplate: Using a LINQ query I join the two table and displays in a label control a string which includes BuildingID and BuildingName (5 North Building)
EditItemTemplate: Using a LINQ query I populate a DropDownList with strings of BuildingID and BuildingName same as above.
Here issue which I need to resolve:
1. ItemTemplate display the correct information (BuildingID BuildingName) but when I switch to EditItemTemplate the pair that is
displayed is the first one on the list, how do I make is scroll to the item which was displayed in the label ?
<asp:CommandField ShowEditButton="True" >
I have a gridview that I can't for the life of me get the datepicker calender to pop up for. I've been using the datepicker for months very successfully for a variety of textboxes on the page and inside of formviews but this is the first time I've tried using with gridview. I didn't expect any issues however can't seem to find anything to work. I have searched the forums for 2 days and attempted any suggestions found within the solutions to no avail. I've tried using the CSS to link the datepicker but everything stopped working when I changed the code and my page which uses a css style already got all distorted looking. Please help!
Here is my gridview (only included a part b/c it is large and am only having problem with the datepicker for the date completed text box)
<asp:GridView ID="GridViewCompleted" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" AllowSorting="True"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" BackColor="#CCCCCC" BorderColor="#999999" BorderStyle="Solid"
BorderWidth="3px" CellPadding="4" DataKeyNames="job_id" DataSourceID="SourceJobProjectCompleted"
I want to set up a gridview that will display data like this
WeekEndingDate Project Category Sun Mon Tues Wed Thu Fri Sat8/14/2010 proj1 test 2 1 2 3 2 1 0 8/21/2010 proj1 test 0 2 2 2 2 1 0 8/28/2010 proj1 test 0 1
I have a masked edit C99999 as a mask and allow a "C" or "D" as the beginning character.
This C or D is added to an existing number when that application is Denied or Canceled.
The trouble is the masked edit is in overwrite mode and destroys the original app#.
Can I make it INSERT or do I need to do an append of the original number to the new
prefix in the update code?
I hope this isn't another RTFM question... <BLUSH>
Hey and thanks!
As the subject line notes the software in use, anyone have an idea why I can't edit global.asax in VS2010 (being ran with the 'run as administrator' advanced property check box checked)? The file properties in explorer show local machine admins have full control (I am in that category) and also that IIS has windows auth enabled for the default web site. What is this other level of security on here that I'm missing? I can edit web.config, vb files and general aspx files with no problem--just the global.asax file causing a headache...
I'm brand new to Dynamic Data and to ASP.NET. I've been able to fumble around and get the calendar extender up and running and a few other customization options implemented, but I can't seem to get this drop down list to work - even after reading tons of online info. The good news is that my web page/application is VERY simple, so hopefully you guys can help me out. I'm working in VB btw.
I have a list of road projects submitted to me by local governments. One of the fields is SponsoringAgency, which has a limited number of possible entries (the names of member governments). Thus, when they submit a new project, or edit an existing one, I want to limit the input into the field "SponsoringAgency." I'm trying to use a dropdownlist because I'm familiar with it from Access, but it may not be the best approach. Imagine you just setup a brand new, standard DD website, how would you get this to work?
Methods tried and failed (probably because I don't understand them fully):
UIHint - The closest I can get with this is an error saying that since SponsoringAgency isn't a Foreign Key, I'm out of luck.
Creating a SponsoringAgency Table - In my data layer, I created a second table with a list of government names. I then tried se
I have one SQL Query and it is working fine. Now, I want to access another table using One of the columns in this table.
How can I access that value and How to put that in the existing SQL Query
I have built a routine which takes a byte() array and passes it to iTextSharp for rendering as a PDF. This is working just fine.
However, in my application, users want to be able to select multiple documents and have the program render them as a single, combined PDF.For the purpose of this discussion, let's say they chose two documents. I form the byte() array containing the data of the first document and then, I increase the size of that byte() array and load the second document's data into one. The result is that I have a single combined byte() array which I now want to render.
However, when the PDF viewer opens (in runtime), it's only showing me the first document (as if there is no more data in the byte() array to render).My thinking is that perhaps it's picking up the End Of File (EOF) marker and therefore not rendering the data past that point in the byte() array.
Any thoughts on this? Here's my code.
Prior to the For/Next construct, I have a dataset already containing a list of documentId's from a database that works with my EDM package.A webservice call returns the byte() array for each document in my dataset into mb() and I use mbbnew() to build the combined byte() array for the documents requested by the user.
Just to be clear,
