Microsoft SQL Server  2000 - 8.00.2039 Got this error: Could not complete cursor operation because the table schema changed after the cursor was declared. SQLCode: 16943 SQLState: HY000 Is this a known issue?  I suspect the application logic may cause this error. Please advise. Thanks a lot!

Accessing table in DBO schema from Stored Procedure in other Schema

I am experiencing a strange issue related to schema qualification at a customer. No matter what we've tried we cannot recreate the issue internally. I am hoping someone can help. We create a Stored Procedure on a schema called "Import". In this stored procedure, we have numerous references to tables on the "dbo" schema, but we have not qualified them (I know this is not best practice, but it's legacy code and we're not going to change it right now). This has been used at other customers without issue. This one new customer is getting an issue where it does not seem to find the dbo table when trying to create the stored procedure. If we take the query out of a stored proceure and just run it as a T-SQL script, it works. So, the code below works select * from Import.Dirsync a join Inventory i on a.Audit_InventoryID = i.InventoryID But this does not. It complains that the column "InventoryID" on the table "Inventory" does not exist. create procedure Import.Test as select * from Import.Dirsync a join Inventory i on a.Audit_InventoryID = i.InventoryID My understanding is that any object on the dbo schema will be resolved. Again, this is working on all other servers with our databases. Any suggestions? Thanks Craig Bryden - Please mark correct answers

is Alter table a fully logged operation

Hello, A friend of mine has a very large table which has a column of type int. Since this table is growing very fast he wanted to alter the table to change the data type from int to bigint. when he did that, he found that he ran out of disk space on the t-log volume. (600 GB of free space). why did this happen? shouldn't the type change be a meta data change operation? why was the t-log so heavily used on change of type?

daily complete cube rebuild four dimensions and fact table including remapping of all surrogate keys

Hi SSIS Engineers: Forgive me if this is a multi-forum question. Our primary activity in the next week is to automate the processing in SSIS, where I led the team to create complete processing flows for Full and Add in the order of Dimension, Measure Group, Partition, Cube, Database. These work. The problem occurs in a complete refresh of the ERP database that caused me manual effort inside SSAS, which I plan to find a way to automate in SSIS. I performed a complete refresh of our cube from the ERP source from a time perspective. We are automating this process in SSIS. In SSAS, I had to manually delete the four dimensions from the UDM view via the Solution Explorer. Since the complete refresh increased the surrogate keys in the dimensions and since the names were the same, I couldn't just drop the partition and reprocess the dimensions, since, in effect, new fact rows would have to be mapped to the new keys. SSAS held on to the old keys even with Full Processing of the Dimensions first, then the Cube. Until I dropped--deleted-- the dimensional tables from the Solution Explorer and the UDM then later readded the dimensions with the new surrogate keys (both add, update and delete dimensional attribute changes in full refresh) via the Add Dimension wizard, the cube kept the old surrogate keys and failed in measure group, fact, database and partition processing.

Oracle ref cursor or temp table?

I have to return a large amount of data from a complicated query to an asp.net web page. It is currently doing it by running a procedure to fill an Oracle temp table and pulling all of the data from the temp table for display. I was wondering if using a ref cursor would be faster and more efficient. Does anyone know?

How to calculate a SQL Server performance of a query based upon table schema, table size, and availa

Hi What is the best way to calculate (without actual access to a SQL Server) the processing speed of a query (self-inner-join) based upon table schema, table size, and hardware (CPU, RAM, Drives)? ThanksThanks Jeff in Seattle

Schema comparer mistake in table-valued function (Nullability in column definition)

Hello. In my database i have table valued function. In its definition nullability of column is not set directly. This column has a user-defined data type. So the question is: is this column nullable? As i can see here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174979.aspx   When column nullability is not explicitly specified, column nullability follows the rules shown in the following table. Column data type Rule Alias data type The Database Engine uses the nullability that is specified when the data type was created. To determine the default nullability of the data type, use sp_help. It should be not null, as user defined type is declared as not null. SMO says, that column is not null, but schema compare says it is nullable. Who is wrong and why?

Managing TypedDataSets when there is a change in backend Table / Stored Procedure / Database schema

Hi All, I am just curious to know if there is any easier way to synchronize the TypedDataSets with the chages made to backend Table / Stored Procedure schema.  I use Typed DataSets in my project extensively and I found them very useful and easier to code, but difficult to maintain  The difficuly I have always faced is whenever there is a change in a backend database table structure or stored procedure that is linked to any of the Typed DataSet in our project requires to recreate whole DataSet again by scrapping the old one. The backend changes will not be reflected unless and untill you recreate the whole stuff again. Is there any easier way to synchronize those typed datasets with the changes made to backend database schema or any other workaround that will not required to recreate the whole DataSet again.Hope above question makes sense. Any ideas.

setting schema as dataset to a table

hiii have an already existing schema (in a xsd file). now i need to prepare a report, so in the rdlc page i take a table. now how can i set the schema as a dataset to the table?(i'm getting an error -- "the table 'table1' is in the report body but the report has no data set.  Data regions are not allowed in reports without datasets.").

Listview: How to get the background colour changed based on a boolean value in a table

Hi there, I come across the technique on how to apply a different CSS class to make a row stand out from the others. However, the original code is for gridview whilst I am trying to get it works on a listview. The original code for the gridview is as follows and hope that someone can shed some lights on how to get it done on listview. Thanks.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Protected Sub GridView1_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowDataBound Select Case e.Row.RowType Case DataControlRowType.DataRow Dim myRowView As DataRowView = CType(e.Row.DataItem, DataRowView) If Not Convert.ToBoolean(myRowView("Authorised")) Then e.Row.CssClass = "Highlighted" End If End Select End Sub

Move cursor position during drag drop operation

Hi,

I know how to change to a custom cusor or visual instead of a standard cursor during drag and drop operations.  I know how to get the current mouse position during drag and drop methods (often there is a GetPosition method, or alternatively I can use p/invoke or System.Windows.Forms.Cursor.MousePosition getter).

My question is, how can I (or is it not possible) to change the mouse position programmatically during the drag/drop operation, ideally just before the drop occurs so that items are dropped at the point of the programmatically set cursor position?

I tried to to use the System.Windows.Forms.Position setter and SetCursorPos both in the source's PreviewQueryContinueDrag handler and the target's PreviewDrop handler but neither affected the position of where the items were dropped.  In the case of PreviewQueryContinueDrag, the mouse visually moved to the programmatic location after the items were dropped, even though the PreviewQueryContinueDrag handler was called before the item was dropped (and before PreviewDrop).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Notre

we are having an automatic job which will run for every 30 mins. Sometimes, the job is getting failed because of the following error.

  • Could not complete cursor operation because the table schema changed

In Actual, there is no cursor in the stored procedures and we have not done any changes to the stored procedure. After the next daload, the job is running fine.

Please let me know the resolution for this issue.

    Thank you!!

  • Move cursor position during drag drop operation

    Hi,

I'm enhancing the behaviour of out of the box WF designer drag/drop experience.  One of the things I'm trying to do (in part) is when a toolbox item is drag over an existing activity designer and then dropped, I want the toolbox item's activity to be dropped close to the activity designer on which it was to be dropped, but not directly on top of the designer.

To accomplish this, I detect when a drop operation is about to occur and then I attempt to move the cursor position next to the activity designer.  The problem I'm having is moving the cursor during the drop operation.  I've tried various ways to do this programmatically, but nothing seems to work.  Or, perhaps it is getting moved but then the workflow designer (and in particular the flowchart designer) does something special with mouse position or otherwise ignores it.

I started out posting this question on the WPF forum, but now I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps there is something unique to  the WF/flowchart designer that's causing the mouse not to move (or to move back to the original position perhaps) rather than a general issue with moving the mouse during drag/drop operations.

    Can anyone provide any guidance?

    Thanks,

    N
