how do I add a custom report that appears in SSMS

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Hi, I would like to create and add a custom report that would appear when users click on Reports - Custom Reports at both the Instance and the DB level in SSMS. I know how to create a report but I dont know how to add the report so it appears when users click through SSMS. I would also like to know where is the RDL (if that is what is being used) for the build in reports for either SQL Server 2008 and/SQL Server 2008 R2. thanks, SQLSearcher

Html.RenderPartial appears to be stripping Model of custom attributes

Hello,

I have implemented a custom ModelMetadataProvider so that I can decorate my view models with some custom attributes and everything was working fine until I made use of a Partial View.

The following code in my view works fine: -

<%: Html.DisplayFor(x => x.Results) %>

Results is a List which renders a custom display template and is also decorated with a custom attribute.  Using breakpoints, after the above line and prior to the code within the custom display template, the overridden CreateMetadata method in my custom ModelMetadataProvider is invoked.  If I look at the attributes collection parameter I can see that it does contain my custom attribute thus everything working as expected.

However, if I replace the above with the following line of code in my view then it breaks: -

<% Html.RenderPartial("ApplicationSearchResults", Model.Results, new ViewDataDictionary()); %>

All the Partial View contains is: -

<%: Html.DisplayFor(x => x) %>

Again using breakpoints, after the above line and prior to the code within the custom display template, the overridden CreateMetadata method in my custom ModelMetadataProvider is invoked.  But this time if I look at the attributes collection parameter my custom attribute is not there.

Any idea

Report Variable / Custom Code

I have looked through a bunch of posts and I just cannot find the answer to my issue.  All I wish to do is create a simple integer variable and increment it by 1 each time the textbox which it lives in is displayed. I have used custom code: dim Counter as integer public function SetCounter() as String     Counter +=1     return Counter.tostring() end function which works fine except for the fact that on every new page the counter is set back to 1.  If my report is 60 pages long, I don't want the variable to start with 1 on page 60. I have tried using a hidden parameter because I can access that in code but I have found no way to use something like Variables!Count.Value +=1 Any ideas are welcomed.  thank you

Iterate through rows of dataset in report's custom code

Hello, How can I iterate through the rows of a dataset in the custom code? I have a report containing a dataset. I pass the dataset as a parameter to the custom code function. But what then? Where is a reference about the available members etc.? Here is my dummy sample code so far: Public Function ShowParameterValues(ByVal ds as DataSet) as object() Dim codes() As Object Array.Resize(codes,dc.???.Count) codes(0)=ds??(field???)(row??) return codes End Function As the task I want to accomplish is very simple, I want to keep it in the custom code instead of writing any custom assemblies etc.   Thank you!

How do you add duplicate fields to a SSRS custom report and receive differtent output values.

I have built a custom report in SSRS 2008 using fields for supplier and customer.   I have added a Parent Row Group using the Supplier field for the group expression and used the Customer Details as my child details group. This returns a list of all customers for each supplier.   (Supplier | = Customer details ( Name, Dob etc.)   How would I add an additional Supplier field to the customer details returning only values for other Suppliers used by a customer, not the value of the Supplier listed in the Parent Group?

SSRS 2008 Custom Authentication works when using ReportServer url but not when report manager url is

Hi, I am using SSRS 2008 with Custom security extension for authentication. The extension is developed in c#. I have placed the dll under report server bin and report manager bin directory and the logon,login pages under appropriate directory. My reports manager url is http://localhost:port/Reports and my reports server url is http://localhost:port/ReportServer. When I try to login through reports manager url, I am getting 'login failed' error message from the dll. But when I try to login using reports server url, it works. I have also set 'FullTrust' named permission set in RSMgrPolicy.config . <CodeGroup class="FirstMatchCodeGroup" version="1" PermissionSetName="FullTrust" Description="This code group grants MyComputer code Execution permission. "> < IMembershipCondition class = " ZoneMembershipCondition " version = " 1 " Zone = " MyComputer " /> Any suggestions please!   Thanks!

Reporting services + report parameters and custom dropdown length

Hi, I have some report and plenty of parameters inside that report. One of parameter contains values stored inside dropdown list (that are downloaded from db). Is there any way I can set the maximum length of that dropdown control? The problem is that when I expand drop down list I have a horizonal scrollbar because some values inside that dropdown list are too long. How can I customize this parameter and dropdown control so there will be no horizontal scrollbar and values inside it will always be visible?

Best Practice for connect SSRS Report Viewer Web part with custom filter web part (With Dropdown\Lis

To make a filter provider web part, I implemented the interface ITransformableFilterValues.
Implemented the various properties of the ITransformableFilterValues interface
and method that creates an instance of our filter provider.

[aspnetwebparts.ConnectionProvider("AccountFilter", "ITransformableFilterValues", AllowsMultipleConnections = true)]
public ITransformableFilterValues SetConnectionInterface()
{
return this;
}

Is this a best practice .Please share your suggestion.

Using custom code on report services to check if directory does exist or not (need help)

I am trying to check if a directory does exist.  I have used the vb.net to create a very small function and embedded into the "Custom code:" section of Report Properties.  It’s output is a return of Y or N (string) or 1 or 0 (Integer) if directory exist or not.

Here is the code which returns a String

    Function ifDirExist(ByVal mypath As String) As String

        Dim flag As String

        If Not System.IO.Directory.Exists(mypath) Then

            flag = "N"

WCF Custom BehaviorExtension Error: An extension "silverlightFaults" already appears in extension co

WCF Custom BehaviorExtension Error: An extension "silverlightFaults" already appears in extension collection. Extension names must be unique.

I have a custom behaviorExtension for a silverlight project which helps in communicating faultcontract messages to client. This error occurs when the service is called. Works good in Dev and QA boxes but not in PROD test server. Any ideas of where to start and how to debug ?

Platform: .NET 3.5, Silverlight, WCF, Win2003 x64

Any help is appreciated.

report definition cannot find custom assembly in VS 2010

Hello,

I;m trying to use custom code (C#) in a report definition and I have followed the steps outlined in MSDN to get this done. However, whenever I compile the code, I keep getting the following error

"Error while loading code module: ‘GSLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null’. Details: Could not load file or assembly 'GSLibrary, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."

I've scoured through this forum and the net looking for answers but nothing seems to work. The closest answer was to mark the assembly as a trusted code module in the current app domain, but VS2010 complains that this method is deprecated.

The assembly works just fine elsewhere in code. How do I get custom C# code to work with the reports I am creating.

Thanks for your help.

Generate a dynamic number of custom report item instances in a report

Are there any solid examples/tutorials/demos of how to dynamically generate custom report item instances in a report based on the amount of rows in a data set?

Additionally I would like to insert these custom report items in a particular order based on a field in the data set.

Any help/pointers/articles would be appreciated!
