Failed to create AppDomain

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Recently updated my system to use Visual Studio 2010, and projects will no longer compile. All of them give the error "Failed to create AppDomain." Intellisense does not work either (except for standard HTML tags), and individual pages will also not compile.

Points of note:

  • All sites are hosted on UNC shares (although it doesn't work on a new site created on local drive either)
  • Language is mostly C#
  • No explicit code is creating AppDomain objects
  • Sites compiled fine under both VS 2005 and 2008 both before and after VS 2010 installation
  • Sites compile and run fine from the IIS server on the remote machines (one IIS 6, one IIS 7)

Things I've tried (some obviously shouldn't have any bearing on it, but I've tried just about everything that anyone suggested on any forum I could find, most of which seemed to apply to IIS, not VS):

  • renaming/deleting security.config
  • running caspol -reset
  • re-registering asp.net: aspnet_regiis.exe -ua / aspnet_regiis.exe -i
  • removing VS 2005, 2008, 2010, and then re-installing just VS 2010
  • adding the UNC path to the local intranet zone (internet options control panel)
  • adding the UNC path to LocalIntranet_Zone in the ASP.Net 2.0 control panel (runtime security policy/machine/al

Proxy failed to create remote object on the server

Hi, I am using .net remoting for inter-process communication between two processes on the same machine 1.   The first process is one of the Office application: Ecxel /   Word /   PP 2.   The other process is another application that interacts with one of the above. For that it needs office application object. For example: Excel The solution is comprised with 3 projects: Project #1: The remote object is a simple Called RemoteOfficeApplication – that simply wraps the required application object (Word / Excel / PP).   Project #2: The Server is a simple Office add-in, written with a Visual Studio Extensibility -> Shared project. This add-in is instantiated whenever Excel is lunched. This project reference project #1. Code: var channel = new TcpChannel (5003); ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel, true ); RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType( typeof (RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication ), “AppObj”, WellKnownObjectMode .Singleton);   Project #3: The Client is the process that requires the application object. This project also reference project #1. Provisioning did not succeed. Details: Failed to create the 'Reusable Content' library. OriginalEx

Hi there, I am trying to activate the Feature SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure in a Team Site, but I am getting the following message: Provisioning did not succeed. Details: Failed to create the 'Reusable Content' library. OriginalException: Column 'ShowInRibbon' does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user. This environment is running SharePoint 2010 Server, as a result of an upgrade of MOSS 2007 by moving the Content Database. The visual upgrade was applied partially in this Site Collection, not for all the Web Sites. Interestingly for new SharePoint 2010 Site Collections the activation works fine! But not for this specific Site Collection. Any clues? Problem with EventSetter - "Failed to create a 'Handler' from the text" ...

I have a DataTrigger which when active sets the Template of a ListBox. Within the ListBox i then have a custom type which is based on a border. I wanted to get the MouseDown event for the Border, so in the custom type created a routed event which is fired when the MouseDown event occurs. Im using an EventSetter to hook this up and it compiles, however when ever the DataTrigger becomes active and the Template is changed i get an error: "Failed to create a 'Handler' from the text (name of method in code behind).   xaml: <ListBox x:Name="buttonDisplay" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center"> <ListBox.Resources> <Style x:Key="answerBtnStyle" TargetType="{x:Type cc:callControlButton}"> <EventSetter Event="borderClicked" Handler="ccAnswerBtn_MouseDown"/> </Style> </ListBox.Resources> <ListBox.Style> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBox}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate></ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ElementName=window,Path=currentCall.callstate}" Value="ringi

Failed to create 'TargetType' for InvokeMethod

I'm using WF inside Visual Studio 2010 (.Net 4). I'm new to WF so forgive me if I'm barking up the wrong tree. I created a workflow with some Decisions and some InvokeMethods. I just want the InvokeMethods to call the static generic method "GetRecord" on a static class I have called DataAccessLayer. So I set the TargetType to Adapt.Data.Generic.DataAccessLayer<Adapt.Model.TaskManagement.StatusDef>. I set the method name to GetRecord and added one integer parameter to the parameters collection. However, when I run the code, I get the error below:

Failed to create a 'TargetType' from the text 'adg:DataAccessLayer(amt:StatusDef)'.

I don't understand. What have I done wrongly? I did everything through the designer. I didn't edit any Xaml by hand.

Failed to create receiver object when deploying solution

I get the following error

Failed to create receiver object from assembly "MySolution, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=d398c9a30aa5e960", class "MySolution.Features.MyFeature.MyEventReceiver" for feature "MySolution_MyFeature" (ID: d159bf93-828b-44d6-a449-b1fe4b8c6066).: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.

when deploying my solution using stsadm.

.\stsadm -o deploysolution -name MySolution.wsp -allowgacdeployment -immediate
.\stsadm -o execadmsvcjobs

If I redeploy it using the same stsadm commands again it works.

The feature event receiver is in a dll that is deployed in the GAC in the same solution.

This has worked before and I wonder if there is some way I can troubleshoot this

Cannot create a connection to data source ... Login failed for user: BUT not for all reports!

SQL Server 2008 using Report Builder v2.0  (Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 10.0.2531.0)

We have several reporting service apps with many reports in each one. There is a set of 4 reports that all report on similar info (but grouped differently) that can be run by me and other network administrators but not any "regular" users. On these reports only, they are getting "Cannot create a connection to data source ... Login failed for user...". As I've said there are other reports that regular users can run just fine!? ALL reports use the same Shared Connection Data Source on the server that is set up as Windows Integrated Security. The Data Source's Security allows Domain Users to browse.

I've uploaded a test report to SSRS whos SQL is "SELECT 'test' as testField" and that's it: and is connected to this same Data Source and users still get the Login Failed error... even tried creating and using a new Data Source that points to the same SQL Server DB to no avail. Examining the rdl's XML doesn't reveal anything either.

Reporting Server is a different machine than the SQL Server DB holding the data.

The only clue is that working reports were created a year before now.

CREATE AGGREGATE failed because type .. does not conform to UDAGG specification due to method 'Init

I am trying to get the CLR user-defined aggregate functions sample working (VB version).

I've saved the sample (from Invoking CLR User-Defined Aggregate Functions ) to a .vb file and compiled it like this:

.0.50727\vbc  /t:library /out: SQLutils.dll Class1.vb
Microsoft (R) Visual Basic Compiler versie 8.0.50727.42
voor Microsoft (R) .NET Framework versie 2.0.50727.42
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. Alle rechten voorbehouden.

The SQLutils.dll file is created without warnings or errors.

I've created the assembly

create assembly sqlutildll from 'D:\SQLdata\dll\SQLutils.dll'

and then the function:

sql server 2008 r2 install does not create database engine, also mmc creates error "Failed to create

I am loading sql server 2008 r2 developer edition into Windows Vista Home Basic. Product loads correctly with no error messages; except will not create database engine. And will not create integration services. When I try to open MMC, I will get error "MMC could not initialize the snap-in. Product may not have been installed correctly."

I understand this is a known issue for SQL Server 2008 RD installing on Windows Vista? What is the workaround or fix? Hot fixes available for this issue from support.microsoft.com do not install on my Windows Vista Home Basic machine.
