publisher policy in GAC

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
I want to redirect consumers of dll v1 to dll v2. I will add a publisher policy in GAC for that. Does this mean dll v2 itself must also reside in GAC or can the actual new dll be in /bin?http://webservices20.blogspot.com/ WCF Security, Interoperability And Performance Blog

Specify CLR Version When Using Al.exe to Generate Publisher Policy Files

I'm trying to generate a publisher policy for for .NET 4.0 assemblies. However, I noticed that the version of mscorlib that the generated policy file references is always 2.0.0. Is there a way to specify .NET 4.0 as the CLR? Otherwise, when you install this assembly, it gets installed into the C:\Windows\assembly folder instead of the new .NET 4.0 assembly GAC location.

Using the PIAB you can enhance WCF services with policies such as validation, performance monitoring, authorization and caching without having to change a line of code.

Security in .NET: The Security Infrastructure of the CLR Provides Evidence, Policy, Permissions, and

The common language runtime of the .NET Framework has its own secure execution model that isn't bound by the limitations of the operating system it's running on. In addition, unlike the old principal-based security, the CLR enforces security policy based on where code is coming from rather than who the user is. This model, called code access security, makes sense in today's environment because so much code is installed over the Internet and even a trusted user doesn't know when that code is safe.In this article, Don Box explains how code access security works in the CLR. He discusses the kinds of evidence required by policy, how permissions are granted, and how policy is enforced by the runtime.

How to prevent Propagation from subscriber to Publisher in some occations

We are using merge application. We need sometimes delete some tables at subscriber and that delete command or any other command  should not propagate to Publisher and other subscribers. And sometimes it should be refilled from Publisher. Is it possibe? Second question : My publisher crashed two times. I could attach the database after restoring the OS. But at subscriber I am unable to modify some table and it gives the error invalid object name 'dbo.msmerge.......'. Replication is working fine. What is the reason for this error and how I can get rid of it?

I have a pull subscription setup between sql server standard 2005 and windows 7 sql server 2008 express. When I run the distrib exe I get the error "invalid column name 'publisher'". I have searched the internet for a solution to this problem and keep coming up empty. Can someone help me debug this error?

No results for users that are members of a 'Deny All' policy for web application

I have a SharePoint Farm with search working happily.  This farm also has a remote access component that I have configured on a separate extended web application.  The business has some accounts that it does not want to allow access to the Intranet remotely, and has added these accounts to a 'Non Remote Intranet Users' security group.  I then set up a rule on the Extranet zone to Deny All access for this group.  The Default zone still allows them to browse however, which is working great. The only problem is that members of this group do not get any search results whatsoever.  From the logs it appears that all results get security trimmed.  :( Can I disable security trimming somehow?  Is this a bug?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  :)

Information Policy options missing?

I've set up a Content Type Hub to allow me to publish content types to all site collections. However, doing this appears to have removed the Information Management Policy Settings link on the settings page for the content type. Does this mean that you can't set IM policy on Published Content Types?

using policy based management to exclude database access

After reading information on the link http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1492 I was wondering whether its possible to have a policy in place such that database A cannot make reference to objects in database_B, I am guessing that one would have a policy such that the contents of the objects must not be like %database_B.%   Let me know whether there is a better way to do this. Thanks.

Sorry my terrible english,   I will try to explain my problem, I made some data changes at the publisher and I had to throw away the PK and FK cascading multiple tables. Exception when applying a policy against stored procedure names...

Hi There,       I have recently created a policy that checks stored procedure names and prevents any to be created and/or changed to anything that is not prefixed with 'spr_'. I have a simple Cindition called SPNameCondition who's expression is @Name LIKE 'spr_%' I also have my Policy called SPNamePolicy who's condition is set to SPNameCondition. It is Enabled and targets every stored procedure in every database. I have the evaluation mode set to on change: prevent and no server restrictions. After creating my policy, I checked it by evaluating it against all existing stored procedures in our databases. This worked as I expected as it flagged up all existing stored procedures names that didn't start with 'spr_' as in error. The problem I am having though, is when I create a new stored procedure in SSMS and execute I get the following exception: A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate "sp_execute_policy": System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Dmf.PolicyEvaluationHelper' threw an exception. ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Diagnostics.STrace, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. Managed Accounts - Generate New Password causes "The password does not meet the password policy requ

Hello, We are setting up our SharePoint 2010 Farm. I liked the idea of the managed accounts with auto-generating passwords managed by SharePoint. So I setup all my accounts as managed accounts and scheduled several of them to update the password weekly. After the "update" happened my farm went down. So I manually reset passwords and went back into Central Admin to see what was going on. From the managed accounts I tried to manually update the password of my Farm account with the Generate new password functionality and get this error. Error The password does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements Servers are in a domain with a one-way trust to a parent domain. Thanks!
