ASP.NET Configuration not opening

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I recently upgraded to VS 2010 and downgraded to SQL Server 2005. Now when I go Website > ASP.NET Configuration nothing happens.

It's likely this has to do with the fact that when I was installing SQL Server I got the 'ASP.net Version Registration requirement' warning, as well as the 'Failed to find the ASP.net Version Registration requirement with MS IIS'.

Anyone know what I need to get ASP.NET Configuration working?

Visual Studio closes itself by opening aspx-Page designer after Windows Update

Hey Guys,

I've a problem with my Visual Studio.

On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important. I hope you could help me out of this disaster.

An endpoint configuration section for contract 'xxx' could not be loaded because more than one end

I'm trying to test calling a webservice, I've found several free ones on http://webserviceshare.com, but none of them work for me.  Some of them give example calling code in C# which I've translated to VB.NET, they're typically just two to four lines, I don't think I've translated them incorrectly.

On that I've tried is US Zip Validator.  I added a Service Reference to http://www.webservicemart.com/uszip.asmx?WSDL, called ZipService.

I then call it like so:

            Dim myZipService As ZipService.USZipSoapClient = New ZipService.USZipSoapClient()
            Dim myCity As String = myZipService.ValidateZip("27707")

I get the following error on the first line of code:

"An endpoint configuration section for contract 'ZipService.USZipSoap' could not be loaded because more than one endpoint configuration for that contract was found. Please indicate the preferred endpoint configuration section by name."

Configuration Tool

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and I'm trying to think of the best way to implement my first dynamic website. I've noticed the ASP.NET Configuration tool and it seems quite useful but I have a few questions:

1. Can this page be accessed when the website goes live or is it best to make your own?

2. Can this tool handle custom SQL databases or must everything be built into the default one?

3. Can this tool be setup for local use initially and then changed for the hosting server details later on?

The website I'm build will have user account features, with a news and articles section which the user will be able to interact with. So I need to create a database to handle this. However I don't know whether to completely ignore this tool and just make everything custom or try and incorporate that into the ASP.NET Configuration tool. Also, if everything is made custom can you still use the membership tool in visual studio? Thanks for any help :)

Browser window is opening up on the second click with javascript code

I am trying to set a javascript code to open up a new browser window with this URL that exists like shown below.

On the first click nothing happens but on the second click the browser window is opening up.

How is it possible to make it open up on the first click ?

                                <asp:ImageButton ID="ImageButton3" runat="server" Height="84px"
                                    ImageUrl="~/images/1.jpg" Width="165px"
                                    onclick="ImageButton3_Click" />

    protected void ImageButton3_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)
        String openURL = "javascript:window.open('" + "Folder1/testing.aspx" + "');return false;";
        ImageButton3.OnClientClick = openURL;

Error with ASP.NET Configuration Tool

I'm trying to make an MVC 2 site, and I've run into a bit of a snag.  I want to add user roles to my system via the configuration tool, but every time I click the Security tab I get the following error:

"There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Could not load type 'HandiGamer.MvcApplication'."

When I click on the 'Choose Data Store' button, it tells me I'm already using AspNetSqlProvider.

I have a .mdf file for the rest of the site's db, but didn't make any tables for membership as I thought all of that would be handled by the configuration tool.

Am I missing a step?

Problem opening dotnet 1.1 projet on 2008 web server

 We recently upgraded to a 2008 development web server and I installed all the stuff to get dot net 1.1 app working on the server.  I can host them and they work.  My problem is that when I try to open one in VS 2003 I get the following error.  I set up the web server the same as my previous one, and I think a long time  ago I got this error when we set up current one but do not remember how to resolve it.  So I moved my project files from the old server to the new server and then I get these errors.

The web Server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web Project located at the following url: Http://localhost:/MobTracker. 'Http/1.1 500 server error
