Configuring sharepoint and IIS to talk to internal web apps

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 31, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi all, i hope someone can help.I have a sharepoint applictaion for staff to access both internally and externally. I have set an IIS server up to host web apps that are frequently used by staff, this has an external IP. I want to use web parts in sharepoint so that staff can access these apps externally. However, I can configure the IIS server to allow anyone to access this and it works fine but obviously this isnt suitable as there is confidential data. if i try to tie the IIS box down then i get no access at all externally even through sharepoint. I guess what I'm asking is that does anyone know how to configure sharepoint to talk to my IIS box through the standard user login authentication whilst tying down my IIS server so that it isnt open to the outside world.# :)

Configuring Profile Image Export in SharePoint 2010

It's no secret that I am thrilled with the new social features of SharePoint 2010. I am most excited about the new Profile Picture handling. I strongly believe that the more we can show the faces of our colleagues to one another the more connected we will feel. Clearly Microsoft feels that way as witnessed by the many features that make use of the Profile Image like the Activity Feed and Colleagues list

They also discuss Web Part infrastructure and how to create custom Web Parts.

RDL Rendering (500 Internal Server) Error at Sharepoint Integrated Reporting Service

I have a serious problem that cannot be solved by googling around the keywords below:
sharepoint, moss 2007, reporting service, ssrs 2008, rendering, internal server error, ....

The error is;

"An error occurred during client rendering. The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. "

Everything is O.K.;

* When I render the report from the REPORTSERVER (http://localhost/ReportServer)
* When the reports are scheduled to be sent by the reporting service (planned via MOSS 2007)

But if I open (render) the RDL file from the sharepoint REPORTS LIBRARY interface, all of the reports fail with that internal error message above.

It is weird also that parametrized reports are displayed without errors although the parameters are queried from a sql dataset. But I got the error when rendering the report after I've chosen a parameter  and order "apply/report"...

Possible causes how I met that error may be;

After I have installed (then uninstalled) AJAX extensions
After I have re-configured IIS Web Service Extensions list items

Possible solution alternatives I've found;

I've found a solution on MSDN replying a similar issue with an ideal cause of the error but an evreka answer but no sol

Problem while configuring SharePoint Usage Reporting

Hello all.    I was given an already developed MOSS 2007 (Standard) web application, up and running, and I was requested to activate the usage reporting services. So, I did a little search and found the following article that explains just how to do what I want:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262541(office.12).aspx As I go through the article, I come across this step on the "Enable usage reporting" section:  "On the SSP home page, in the Office SharePoint Usage Reporting section, click Usage reporting." So, now I notice that I don't have a Shared Service Provider and I can't go on with the aforementioned article. Alright, I did a little search and found this article:  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262649(office.12).aspx Which would guide me through creating a SSP. No problemo. I follow the steps until I reach the 19th: "In the Index Server section, in Index Server, click the server on which you configured the Search service". And yet no option is available for me, and rather displays a "there's no index server" messsage. But hold on, the same article reads: "If there is no index server listed in the Index Server section, then no server in your farm has been assigned the index server role. To assign the index server role to a server in

Configuring SharePoint Foundation 2010 with ADFS 2.0 in a multi-tenant environment using subscripti

Hi, I am trying to configure SharePointFoundation 2010 and ADFS 2.0 in a multi-tenant environment, where I have one Web Application and two site collections, each one under one subscription.  At this point is still a very simple infrastructure with one single Domain, AD and ADFS.  My problem starts with the configuration of ADFS 2.0 as Identity Provider in SharePoint. Since I have only one web application, the directory for the incoming token is "_trust" is placed at the root level or the application. Is there a way to change the location where this directory is created, so I can have one distinct one for each one of my site collections ? Or in other words, is there a way to have on identity provider by site collection ?  Thank in you advance for any information on this.   --MD.

Allowing internal users access to Sharepoint site externally

Good afternoon.   This may be a simple answer (I hope so actually) but I haven't been able to figure this out. What I need: I have internal users who can access my Sharepoint site easily while logged onto my network, and external users who I have added to our Active Directory system who can access the site using our external URL.  Both work fine. What I am having problems with:  One of my users (internal) is on a different AD (he is on our European network) and he can not access the site either from the VPN (when he is in the US) nor from the external site (it will take him to the logon screen, but since he doesn't have an account on our AD, it won't let him in). I understood from our European IS department that all we had to do was give him both internal and external access to the Sharepoint site, and he would be able to connect from anywhere. So, how do I do that (give him both)?  Do I need to have our IS team turn on MOSS2007 to do this (it is not turned on today). Many thanks, I am still a newb at Sharepoint, but trying to learn quickly. Thanks, Jim

Do you need to license Office Web Apps seperate from sharepoint server 2010 enterprise license?

Hi All, I been reading this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff431687.aspx#bkmk_ins_exis_farm  and have come to the conculsion that if you want word viewing services and power point services you need to license and download office web apps separate from the SharePoint Licensing/download. Can anyone confirm this that may know more about the subject? I thought those services would come along with enterprise but from what I’m reading I guess not.   Regards, Jeff

Installing/Configuring Exchange 2010 to Accomodate Sharepoint 2007

My company is in the process of installing Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.  I am interested in ideas of how best to configure Exchange 2010 so that SharePoint 2007 is in position to take optimal advantage of the features offered by Exchange 2010.  Any feedback on this would be helpful.  Thanks.
