The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'proc_UpdateVirusInfo'

Hi All,   SharePoint 2007 x64 w/SP1, SQL 2005 x64, ForeFront for SharePoint w/SP1, running on Windows Server 2003 x64 R2 w/SP2.   We originall setup this server using only a couple service accounts. That was a bad idea so a few weeks ago I went over everything and setup or service accounts according to Microsofts recommendations. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263445.aspx)   I've gone over the requirements a dozen times and everything is set perfect.   I have two issues.   1. Randomly we have a SQL permission issue popping up, this abouts a couple times a day (some days none), the event log will fill about with anywhere from 15 to 800 of the same event.   Event Type: ErrorEvent Source: Windows SharePoint Services 3Event Category: Database Event ID: 5214Date:  3/11/2008Time:  1:28:30 PMUser:  N/AComputer: TRUMANDescription:Insufficient SQL database permissions for user 'PortalPool' in database 'SharePoint_AdminContent_45f0f48e-c1b1-463c-99e3-ea6648beaf37' on SQL Server instance 'Truman'. EXECUTE permission denied on sp at web host

Hi all, I have recently succeeded doing a Publish to server from my local sql db and run the sql script on my web host's sql server 2005 db. Now, I get the "The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'MyStoredproc', database 'db12345', schema 'dbo'." error. I have Visual Studio Professional 2010, and that's where I create and manage my tables (in Server Explorer). However, when I right-click a stored procedure, I don't get a Seurity option or the like, where I could possibly set permissions. I'm a bit usure of what SqlServer applications I have installed (as they are intertwingled with the Aps.Net stuff somewhat). SSIS Execute Process Task Give "Access is Denied" error but it is not related to access control.

Hello All - I have a very weired SSIS problem. I am using BIDS in two machines - Windows 7 Professional Edition x64 bit (development workstation) and Windows 2003 Standard Edition x32 bit SP2 (server) . The visual studio version on both the machines are Version 2.0.50727 SP2. I found that my package's ExecuteProcessTask fails with "Access is denied" error in Windows2003 but runs ok in Windows 7 dev box. I then tried to debug the package in the Windows 2003 environment itself. The package failed in debug mode too with the same message. After looking for a while I found that when I shorten the Argument length of the failing ExecuteProcessTask the task did seem to work. So in Windows2003 environment if my argument exceeds 1846 characters the ExecuteProcessTask fails with message "Access is Denied". If the argument string is less than 1846 it works ok. In Windows 7 environment there is no problem at all. It does not seem like access problem but I may be wrong. Has anyone seen this? I will appreciate any reply. Thanks, Niben

Access is denied when creating Alert me on a folder level permission is this a known bug?

Hi, A user is getting an Access Denied error when creating an Alert Me on a folder level. The security set to the user is, Read access to the list but without permission to Create an alert, and he has a Contributor access to the folder. The security was perfect, he can't create an alert to a list level, but Alert Me is available on a folder level. When the user clicks on the Alert Me on a specific folder it will bring him to the alert configuration page, BUT, he would get an Access Denied error when hitting the OK(Save) button. Is this a known issue in Item/folder level security? The fact that Sharepoint allows user to see Alert Me function I assume that it should function correctly, but this is not the case. Hope to hear from you guys! TIA!

SQL Server 2005 permissions error. The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object "xp_instance_reg

I have a SQL Server host running SQL 2005 9.00.4294 x86 Standard Edition running on Windows build 2195 SP4.  My client workstation is running only SQL Server 2005 workstaion components.   When a user of the host who has db_owner access attempts to view the properties of a table by right-clicking the table and then clicking Properties, the following error mesage is displayed:

"The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object "xp_instance_regread", database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'

For security purposes, I do not want to grant execute on xp_instance_regread to these users. Does anyone know of a workaround that will allow members of db_owner to access table properties using the abovementioned method and does not require execute access to be granted?

Execute permission denied on 'proc_SecGetUserAccountDirectoryPath' for domain\user

Hello folks

I'm getting this error in the server event log:

Insufficient SQL database permissions for user 'Name: [domain]\[login] SID: S-1-5-21-3610384712-2751498303-1615348204-13659 ImpersonationLevel: Impersonation' in database 'SharePoint_AdminContent_cece5271-a665-48ea-854b-b7562fe846fe' on SQL Server instance 'S-VS-SQL-SP2010'. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'proc_SecGetUserAccountDirectoryPath', database 'SharePoint_AdminContent_cece5271-a665-48ea-854b-b7562fe846fe', schema 'dbo'.

It's obvious that it's tied to a security issue, but which? I wouldn't think that end users would ever need to access the content database for CA? Also, end users are experiencing a javascript alert popup with the text "The server method 'GetUserSLProfileData' failed". Could it be related?

Please people, I need your help on this, I've tried Google, but with no luck.

Intermittent Access Denied to Users with Member Permission Levels

Hello Community,

I have another tough SharePoint mystery I am trying to solve.  Essentially, users with Member permission levels are experiencing issues accessing a sub-site of a Site Collection intermittently. Users will Full Control, Site or Farm Collection Administrator access do not experience this issue. When the Site Owner with Full Control permission levels opens the site in the morning then the users with Member permission levels are able to access and navigate the sub-site without issue.  Does anyone have any thoughts on what this type of problem may be related to?

Tom Molskow SharePoint Architect - If I solved the issue please propose my reply as the answer - Thanks!

Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource - Employee

I originally posted this question in customization but it might be proper to post in general question and answer section

I have downloaded the above stock template from Microsoft and have not made any customizations what so ever to the template. In the beginning when I tested this template with a test account with (contributor rights) which worked fine and allowed a user to register for a class.

Everything seemed to work fine. However, as of two weeks ago I started receiving user complaints stating that they now receive the :"Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource." error message.

I know that their access rights are configured properly, as Site Collection administrator I can register for a class with no problems. However, even if someone else has the "FULL CONTROL" permission either to the training site or just to the course calendar they continue to recieve the above error message.

What is crazy... if the general user SP Group is setup with Contributor permissions I (1) can create a new class on the calendar (2) I can edit an existing class but cannot register for an existing class without getting the above error message. I have made sure that (A) Office SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure features are enabled at the root site and at

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'sp_start_job', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'.

I am getting the following error when I execute an SSRS report.

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'sp_start_job', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'.

The report is executing a stored proc. Which in turn is running an Agent Job.

When I run this report through BIDS it works fine. It is only when I run it though Report Manager I get a problem.

Can anybody help?

SQL Server 2005 Grant User Permission to Create Stored Procedure and Grant Execute Access to another

I'm trying to determine the minimal amount of access I can give my developers to be able to run create stored procedure scripts with an inclusion of the grant execute to the application user group.

We have been developing some interesting work arounds, but I think there must be an easier way to grant the access.

Grant Create Stored Procedure to user1 on a specific database

Grant Permission to Grant Execute permission for Stored Procedures on a specific Database to user1 for any user.

Access to report file denied. Another program may be using it.

Migrated from Windows 2000 ASP.NET 1.1 to Windows 2003, ASP.NET 2.0 and had this error. All the forums/MSDN/Blogs says to give Read/Write Access to C:\Windows\Temp folder. Why should we give Full Access to some folder in Production server?? In windows 2000, ASP.NET 2.0 development machine, no files are created when we run crystal reports from aspx pages. Then why in Windows 2003 servers, we need to give rights to temp folder?? It is a simple code

And the code is not storing anything on the disk. Then why should it store the GUID.rpt file in Temp file in Windows 2003 server?? Any alternative is there not to store anything on the disk when Crystal Reports are opened in aspx page??

"Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content"

Our search is not working. The crawl log indicates following error: "Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)".

If I check the event viewer, it indicates following error: "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <local machine>]"

My default content access account is another one than this NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE account. The content access account password is correct. Apparently this content access account is translated to the NETWORK SERVICE account upon a crawl. And this network service account doesn't has the appropriate rights on database level. How can I fix this?

Access Denied with SPControlMode.New and RunWithElevatedPriviliges

I am trying to add MultipleLookupField to a webpart I am developing. It works fine as long as the user has Add permission on the list it points to: here is the code:

private MultipleLookupField _multiplelookupKeywords = new MultipleLookupField();
protected override void CreateChildControls()
Guid guidSite = SPContext.Current.Site.ID;
Guid guidWeb = SPContext.Current.Web.ID;
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(guidSite))
        using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb(guidWeb))
  SPList listTest;
  listTest = web.Lists[ListName];
  _multiplelookupKeywords.ListId = listTest.ID;
                _multiplelookupKeywords.ControlMode = SPControlMode.New; //Changing this to SPControlMode.Display works fine
                _multiplelookupKeywords.RenderContext = SPContext.GetContext(web);

Asp.Net upload file access denied

I have the problem below, if anyone can help me, appreciate it.

Server Error in '/' Application.

Access to the path 'c:\Inetpub\EnewsAttFiles\employ-e-header2.jpg' is denied.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'c:\Inetpub\EnewsAttFiles\employ-e-header2.jpg' is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

To grant ASP.NET access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Hig
