Commerce with ASP.NET: Leverage the Authentication and Form Validation Features of ASP.NET to Bolste

If you're planning to build an e-commerce site, you'll be pleased to see that ASP.NET makes it easier than ever. Existing controls can be used and extended to add a great deal more functionality than you might expect. In this article, forms-based authentication is used to verify the identity of users and make certain areas of the site, such as the check-out page, inaccessible to unauthorized users. The power and flexibility of validation controls are demonstrated using the CustomValidator control to connect to a Web Service that verifies addresses. A shopping cart is then implemented in ASP.NET using the DataGrid, and finally, credit card authorization and billing are performed.

Planning common membership provider for different authentication providers

I am trying to implement form based authentication (FBA) membership provider that is able to support multiple authentication mechanisms. Take it as an self-training experiment. In this posting I will introduce bases of my experiment and introduce my current plans and ideas. Why membership provider for multiple authentication mechanisms? There are many people in the world who are users of some social network or some open services provider. Today Facebook and Twitter are very popular social networks. Also Google and Microsoft Live services are very popular although they are not social networks. But all mentioned systems provide their own authentication channels also to other applications. The question is: why should I have another username and password if I have already one at some of systems I mentioned before? Here, in Estonia, we are building local Microsoft community portal with local Microsoft. We analyzed the situation and decided to use Live ID as authentication mechanism in our portal. We were a little it worried too because we were afraid that there are load of users who are not happy with Live ID as authentication mechanism. And guess what - as time has shown us there is no reason to worry! Our ~2000 users (Estonia is small country) are all happy with Live ID and the ones who doesn't have Live ID yet can go and join Live ID - it's free. If you have no idea where I l

Form based authentication Sharepoint 2007 gets redirected to login page

Hi We have sharepoint 2007 site deployed on Windows server 2008, IIS 7.0.  We extended the web application to enable forms based authentication referring to link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb975136(office.12).aspx#MOSS2007FBAPart1_Intro, we selected Kerberos instead of NTLM, behavior is like, when user tries to login into the site using OOB login.aspx, user again gets redirected to the login page. We tried to extend the web application again but this time we selected NTLM, but this time farm account (also is application pool identity) is not able login and exhibits same behavior as above, but for other users we are able to login. Has anyone come across this behavior? can anyone please guide me in correct the behavior? Regards, RK  Radhakrishna

Form based Authentication - OpenLdap problem

Hi everyone,   I try to set up FBA with LdapMembership provider.   I have configured web app + STS like this : <add name="LDAPMember" type="Microsoft.Office.Server.Security.LdapMembershipProvider, Microsoft.Office.Server, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" server="server" port="389" useSSL="false" connectionUsername="uid=portal_sharepoint,ou=people,dc=corp,dc=contoso,dc=com" connectionPassward="somthing" userDNAttribute="distinguishedName" userNameAttribute="cn" userContainer="ou=people,dc=corp,dc=carrefour,dc=com" userObjectClass="person" userFilter="((eduPersonOrgUnitDN=cn=portal_sharepoint,ou=applications,ou=organizations,dc=corp,dc=contoso,dc=com))" scope="Subtree" otherRequiredUserAttributes="sn,givenname,cn" />   I can without problem use the people picker and get user information from it. need help with sharepoint (wss 3.0) with Windows authentication and Custom Role provider

I'm trying to setup sharepoint(wss 3.0) to use my custom role provider with Windows authentication. I've modified the web.config to enable role manager and I am able to select my custom roles when assigning permissions but it doesn't seem like sharepoint is check the permission again my custom roles. If I enable Forms authentication and use my custom membership provider it all works as expected but I do not want to use FBA because of the issues with Client Integration. Essentially I want all the features that comes with the default windows authentications but just have permission be control from my custom role provider. Can anyone offer any solution or suggestions?

Authorization Manager (AzMan) as role provider with Windows integrated authentication in SharePoint

Hi all,

First I will describe my environment: Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, IIS 7, SQL Server 2008 and MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition SP2 x64.

I am trying to setup SharePoint 2007 portal to use Windows integrated authentication with Authorization Manager (AzMan) as role provider.

I have set up an authorization store and defined a set of roles in there. Further I configured the web.configs of my SharePoint environment to use AzMan as role provider.

In IIS I see the roles appearing, but unfortunately those roles are not available in my SharePoint portal. I also see notification in IIS stating that Forms authentication has to be used

What should I do to configure it correctly? Is it even possible to use AzMan with Windows authentication in SharePoint 2007?

Thanks in advance.

With kind regards,

Forms Authentication Provider

Please suggest (with an example if u can) how to achieve this scenario below:

Basic Forms Authentication allows me to authenticate the User from Login Page to Home Page. And during redirecting to home page, I am sending a xml request to datalayer for userToken and I receive the response containing UserToken after user is validated.

Now, my concern is that, how do I implement this Custom Forms authentication that would allow me send the xml UserToken Request along with the UserCredentials to the Datalayer? So, that user once get forms authenticated, UT response is sent back to UI
