Weird behaviour of Gridview with textbox with autopostback OnTextChanged and AJAX CalendarExtender

I ran in to some strange behaviour of Gridview with textbox with autopostback OnTextChanged and AJAX CalendarExtender. This gridview is in an updatepanel with scriptmanager. When my gridview is filled with data, it keeps running my OnTextChanged  function and therefor makes my application terribly slow. I need to have the autopostback and ontextchanged function to recalculate stuff in my gridview. Does anybody know of this problem and if so does anybody found a workarround ?

Running Client Script to Read TextBox Value from AJAX PopupControl Extender

I used PopupControl Extender to display row details from a gridview, and need to update the two textboxes, but the changed value in the textboxes did not get picked up when click the update button on the popup window, so I need to get client side javascript to read the new changed value from these text boxes. However, I tried a few way, none worked for me, not sure what is wrong.

1. Add a javascript function in the .aspx file and use onclientclick of the linkbutton control to call the function, I got error of "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required".

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
     function newTextValue(textbox)
      var text = document.getElementById("TextBox1").Value;

<asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server"  Text='<%# Bind("GalleryTemplateName") %>' Height="20px" Width="230px"

Dropshadow effect for textbox

For all the hype about the WPF's great ease in creating spiffy controls, why cant I just create a dropshadow for a text box. One can use this (got this from this blog)

<TextBox Margin="5,5,5,5" Text="Drop shadow increase sunken effect">
            <DropShadowBitmapEffect ShadowDepth=".1" Softness=".2&q

How to give WPF textbox the 3D sunken effect?

How do you get that 3D cut-out sunken look in a text box? Sort of shadow inside the box?

The borderShadow effect makes the shadow 'outside' and makes the textbox look more like a button  - that is good but better will be the cut-out effect.

copy value from one textbox to another inside UpdatePanel with AJAX CalendarExtender

I have a calendar extender tied to a textbox.  When I select a date from the calendar, it displays the selected date in the textbox.  When I click a submit button, it passes no value.  Any ideas on why the textbox doesn't store the value from the calendar?

    Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
        If Not IsPostBack Then

            If txtPickUp.Text = "" Then
                txtPickUp.Text = Date.Today
            End If
            If txtDropOff.Text = "" Then
                txtDropOff.Text = Date.Today
            End If

            btnSearch.Attributes.Add("onclick", "return ConfirmL();")
        End If
    End Sub

          <asp:TextBox ID="txtPickUp" runat="server" ReadOnly="true" Width="75px" />
         <asp:CalendarExtender ID="CalS" runat="server" TargetControlID="txtPickUp" PopupButtonID="txtPickUp" />

Applying date mask to a textbox without using AJAX or JQuery

I am trying to solve, which is turning out to be a rather troublesome problem.

I have a user control which contains a text box, which is added dynamically to another control containing a repeater control and then finally to the aspx. As my user control with the text box is added dynamically using code, I have learnt that using JQuery to apply a date mask won't because it is added to a placeholder and thus the id of the textbox control won't be found by the JQuery, which goes a long way to explain my problems.

Prior to trying out JQuery, I used AJAX third party control from codeplex, but I had to drop that control because of other issues.

Therefore, is there a way for me to apply a mask, such as "__/__/____" to a text box that does not reply on AJAX or JQuery?

        <asp:AutoCompleteExtender ID="AutoCompleteExtender1" runat="server"
            ShowOnlyCurrentWordInCompletionListItem="true" >

Microsoft AJAX CDN

Content delivery networks (CDNs) are composed of "edge cache" servers that are strategically placed around the world at key Internet network points. These "edge cache" servers can be used to cache and deliver all types of content - including images, videos, CSS and JavaScript files.

Using a CDN can significantly improve a website's end-user performance, since it enables browsers to more quickly retrieve and download content. For example, instead of having a browser request for an image traverse all the way across the Internet to your web server to download, a CDN can instead serve the request directly from a nearby "edge cache" server that might only be a single network hop away from your customer (making it return much faster - which makes your pages load quicker).

Textbox Editable GridView in ASP.NET

This article describes how I made a fully editable gridview in C# using ASP.NET 2. The idea is that the GridView looks and works like an Excel spreadsheet. You see all the cells in the table, and you can edit any of the cells you like, and they are automatically updated (i.e. saved to the database). This is very often how people expect data tables to work in web pages, and I've often seen people clicking in vain on un-editable gridview cells, somehow expecting to edit them, and not understanding that they need to click an Edit button at the end of the row.
