Creating Reorderlist Programmatically

I hope to get some guidance on how to create reorder lists programmatically because of the situation described below. Thank you.

I have a page where I want to have a toDo Iist for each of several (typically 10) milestone categories. I can think of 3 options.

I don't know in advance how many 'active' categories there will be but I there is a known fixed total of about 20  categories, of which from 1 to 20 may be 'active'

1. Have one Master ReOrderList And Then Nest the Category ReorderLists Inside

2. Create the reorderlists programmatically.

3. Brute force approach. Hardcode all 20 reorderlists and their associated sqldatasources, and then set visibility

depending on which category is active. This approach is the simplest but has the disadvantage of too much

repetitive code and the reorder lists would be in a fixed order, when I really want them to match the category order.

Looping through controls to find reorderlist to set allowreorder

How would I loop through controls on a content page to set allowreorder of all reorderlists to false. Thank you.

Reorderlist Inside a Scrolling Div

Hi, i'm using a reorderlist (Ajax Control Toolkit Release 10123) inside a scrolling div  ( style="overflow:auto;height:350px"). When the height of the reorderlist is greater than the height of the div, the div will automatically have a vertical scrollbar. The problem is that when i scroll down to drag an item  from the bottom of the reorderlist, the reorderlist does not work properly. The drag image and the drop target does not correspond to the item i want to move.

The offsets of the div's scrollbar are not taken into account. This problem is similar to the one encountered by lazarus on http://forums.asp.net/thread/1451930.aspx but now with the div's scrollbar not the browser' scrollbar. Please help me.Reordr

 Thank you very much,

reorderlist sort descending

Im using Ajax Reorderlist.

It works just fine unless I change the Select statement to sort DESC.  Then the sort field (int) just accrues values instead of just switching them around.

Something I can do to make this work properly?  Id really prefer to sort this list in DESC order.

problems with using jQuery for reordering groups on an ascx page

Hi all. im making a page that has its header, its footer, and its side menus all in seperate controls (ascx pages).  The reason is so i don't have to rewrite that code for every single page when only the inner content will be different.

In my Menu control there is a list of items that gets populated when the page loads from a database.  The items have an order in the database and i want to be able to reorder them by dragging and dropping.  I am using jQuery and the actual physical drag and drop is working but i am having trouble getting the new order to save in the database... atleast when it is on the ascx page.

It works when the menu is on the aspx page.

In my events.aspx page i have

<div id="contentLeft">
<asp:Repeater ID="FormGroupList" runat="server">
        <li id="<%#Eval("FormGroupID")%>" class="itemStyle">
            <a class="active" href="fields.aspx?fg=<%#Eval("SectionHeading")%>"><%#Eval("SectionHeading")%></a></li>

Editing in ReorderList

Hi, I am binding the ReorderList in my code behind file. I am not using a DataSource Control like SQLDataSource etc.

How will I capture the values edited,  in my ReorderList1_UpdateCommand(). In GridView we can use something like

(TextBox)GridView1.Rows[e.RowIndex].Cells[4].FindControl("txtMyTextBox").Text. Is there anything similar in a ReorderList?

IE8 breaks reorderlist

Just a heads up. IE8 breaks reorderlist. Drag and drop just doesn't work. Amazing, simply amazing...
