Response.Redirect / Server.Transfer to Other Virtual Directory

I have a solution with two websites.  I am trying to do a response.redirect, or a server.transfer over to the other website, but I am unable to.  I am just getting an HTTP 404 error.  I think I am misunderstanding virtual directories, and how to access them.  So in short, could someone please enlighten me on what URL i need to use to redirect to while debugging, as well as what the url should look like on the web server once deployed.

Thanks so much!

HttpContext.Items and Server.Transfer/Execute

The problem was basically that when a Server.Transfer call was applied the script container (and also various ClientScriptProxy script embedding routines) would potentially fail to load up the specified scripts.

Response.Redirect slow

I'm in the middle of migrating servers and on the new server Response.Redirect is extremely slow. It takes around 20 seconds for the browser to get the redirect. This is something that was quick on the existing server. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 application, both servers are running IIS6.

Additionally, if I "manually" do the redirect, it's fast. For example:

Existing way:

takes around 20 seconds on the new server

New way:

Response.Status = "302 Moved Temporarily";
Response.AddHeader("Location", url);

is fast on the new server.

Any ideas why Response.Redirect would be so slow on the new server?

Adding a cookie to a response.redirect vs. httpWebRequest

Hello, I will try to be as clear as I can be.  I'm sure this question has been asked but I can't find a suitable answer for this particular situation.

I need to be able to redirect the browser to a new 3rd party page while at the same time supplying a cookie required for some form of authentication on the 3rd party site.

I have managed to get this to work in the following manner:

'SessionID is predetermined by another HttpWebRequest/Response

Dim sessionCookie As New Cookie("ezproxy", sessionID.Substring(1), "/", ".someother.site")

Dim CookieJar As New CookieContainer

rRequest = HttpWebRequest.Create("where I want to go")

rRequest.CookieContainer = CookieJar

rRequest.Method = "GET"

'Make the request and get the response.

rResponse = rRequest.GetResponse()

'Save cookie(s)

If (rResponse.Cookies.Count <> 0) Then

For Each cook

Exit Popup and response.redirect

Hi, I have a requirement to show an Exit Popup on one of our processing pages. I am showing the exit popup by registering a client side javascript like window.onbeforeunload = ShowExitPopUp(); The popup executes fine if you close the window, or try to type in a different URL. However the issue is that my processing page is also performing a "Response.Redirect" on the server side once the process completes. When response.redirect happens the exitpopup also shows up. Is there a way to have the exit popup not show up in that case? Since my server side code is running through an UpdatePanel, so I have tried registering the following, in an attempt to remove ExitPopup from client side. However this doesn't work since server side redirection happens before end request. Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(RemoveExitPopup); Has anyone faced a similar situation and handled it?

How to Add Custom SOAP Headers Into The Server Response Message in WSE3.0?

Hi Dear All, Assuming I am the service provider, may i know how many ways are there to insert a custom header into the server response message? So far I tried several ways, and it can be done in custom SoapFilters (by playing with SOAPEnvelope object), and SoapExtension (SOAPMessage object). Just wondering if this could be done at web service class by specifying a SOAPHeader attribute, just like adding a SOAPHeader into the SOAP request message at consumer side? If can, it might be much smarter than SoapFilter and SoapExtension.   Thanks in advance!   Best Regards, Charles

Time difference : Hosting Server and client

hi All,I have asp.net/c# web project. How to manage the time difference between the server and clientFor instance, I am at India, and Server is located at UK. So if do any activity, like "comment on friend's photo" etc. the time stamps is UK's time. So if do some activity from India at 10.00 AM, the time stamp would be 5.00 AM. So if the user who sees his activity at 10.00 AM sees it as if it was done at 5.00 AM.If user whom he acted upon (like friend whose photo got the comment) too see 5.00 AM. this is ok if the friend is at UK, but causes confusion if he was at other time location like Australiahow to handle this

Transfer SQL Server Objects reporting success but nothing transferred

I'm trying to "clone" the structure of one database to a new blank database. I can copy the tables over using the Transfer Sql server object without any problems. When I create a separate task "Transfer Sql server object" for the views (CopyAllViews set to true or picking individual views), it always reports success however none of the views were copied. The same problem occurs when I attempt to copy stored procedures. Anyone have an idea of what's going wrong?

Client download .csv file from server using Response.TransmitFile

I am using the code below to enable clients to download a .csv file from my server.The problem I am having is that when the file is saved to the client computer the file name is prefixed and suffixed with an underscore which leads to a file type of .csv_ which is obviously not a recognised file type.How can I strip the underscores from the file name at the transmit stage?        Dim FileName As String = LstBox1.SelectedItem.ToString        Dim FilePath As String = "~/temp" & FileName        Response.Clear()        Response.ContentType = "text/csv"        Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\" & FileName & "\")        Response.TransmitFile(FilePath)        Response.End()
