create user wizard login error message dont show in a message box?

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new user

registers. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.

there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.

If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.

It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already exists

from the create user wizard membership  UserName and Password Textboxes

is it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?

error message customization in create user wizard, change password wizard

Hi All,

Create User Wiard and Change Password Wizard contain error message literals. They display error messages when a user is trying to sign up with an username that already exists and so on.

These error messages are pre-set. How can they be customized. In particular, how can they be adjusted depending on the language.

How is this usually best achieved?

Thanks a lot.

Create User Wizard and Loginview error

 When i place the create user wizard control inside the Loginview Anonymous Template, the Create User Wizard gives an error inside the C# file. Here is a snippet

Interesting error message with content organiser: Cannot resolve mailbox (null) to a valid user

Here is a site with content organiser site feature enabled, as well as the email integration feature. Emails are successfully delivered to the "Submitted Email Records" list, but is never routed to the Drop Off Library. (the content organiser web service works fine and the drop off library works as a custom send to destination and happily processes its rules. If I turn up the debug juice I get the error "Cannot resolve mailbox (null) to a valid user" for every item in any "Submitted Email Records" in the site collection. Area: Document managagement Category: Content organiser EventID: 8000 Message: Cannot resolve mailbox (null) to a valid user I have temporarily worked around the problem by email enabling the drop off library but it creates an intermittent race condition (similar to certain workflow and event receiver situations), so its not a real solution (and in fact I assume thats why the Submitted Email Records hidden list exists in the first place). I've run procmon, specifically focusing on OSWTIMER and nothing interesting shows up at all. The error message is intriguing and I can't really think of what it is trying to do. In troubleshooting I noted that this farm had configured inbound email but not outbound email. I have since rectified this and de/reactivated the content organiser features and reset the timer service and IIS, b

Login control displays error message even after successful login... How come?

I am using .net framework 2.0 witn C#. Am using the login and the CreateUserWizard and the situation is like this.

1) login.aspx page has the login control and i have a hyperlink on the same page saying 'sign up now' which when clicked redirects to the register.aspx page where i have place the createUserWizard control

2) As a new user i click on the 'sign up now' and register myself.

3) I come back to the login.aspx page and login with my new username & password.

It displays the following message 'Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again' although it is successful. How do i know this?? I placed the 'Login Name' control over the top of my page where its displaying the username with which i logged in.

i.e it displays the error msg and my user name ( which means my login was successful right?)

4) Apart from this when i logout and try to login again with the same username it displays the same error msg BUT this time it really does not login in. That username & password does not work anymore and i have to create a new one and its a cycle again from Step2.

Where am i going wrong?

Create List Item - error message

We have recently purchased oneplacemail and I have setup a list that takes the email metadata and stores it, what I wanted to do is a workflow that fires off when a new record is added to the list (i.e. when a new email is dropped in)...and create a new record on another list holding this information and allowing users to add more data to other fields.

I have created a workflow in SPD that uses the CREATE LIST ITEM action, I've set which fields from the email-drop list to populate the fields in the other list and it all seems fine.

I've tested it out and I just get two generic errors -

DESCRIPTION - Error updating a list item
OUTCOME - Unknown Error

DESCRIPTION - An error has occured in <workflow name>

I wondered if it was because the field types for the columns in the email-drop list are not the same as the field types in the other list...even though the data that I want it to create would hapily go in there.  For example, one of the email-drop list columns is EmTo, containing metadata from the TO field of the email...this holds the data as <surname>, <forename>....which is exactly how it is held in the other list except that the field type is PERSON OR GROUP.

This is Sharepoint 2007.

Show friendly error message if no data is existing

my reports shows an irritating error message to the end users, they don`t understand it:

"Error while Rendering: The CommandText expression for the query ‘Header’ contains an error: Index was outside the bounds of the array."

Cause : They submitted a query for a date where no data was existing

I tried the following:

1) I dont get an Error Code Number, so I cannot work with IIS Custom Error Pages.

2) Then I tried to use this expression in the visbility tab of tablix "Header":

=IIF(Count(Fields!Date.Value, "Header")=0, True, False)

But that does not work because the date field is not emtpy, the date just does not fit to the existing records

3) I also tried to wrap this around my SELECT-statement but without success:

and not exists (select 1 from my Database where ….)

any other ideas are welcome!

User Profile Synchronization - Creating AD Connection "Unable to process Create message"

I have the following error when I try to create a new synchronization connection:  "Unable to process Create message".  Microsoft reports this error as being due to a SUN LDAP error which does not make sense.  While we do have some SUN machines in our environment, I used an LDAP browser to confirm that the Windows AD LDAP  was returning information fine.  We are using a mixed Windows 2008 R2/Windows 2003 domain.

I've searched the internet for the solution and have tried all suggestions.  Have tried recreating the User Profile Service.  Have tried not using the wizard and set everything up manually according to the "Rational User Profile" blog.  Have done as much as I can think of.

Any help would be awesome and very appreciated.

Inserting personal error message in ValidationSummary

I am creating a web form that requires a lot of validation. I use many of the validation control in asp.net already like RequiredFieldValidator and CompareValidator.

My Problem: after my custom validation for the value entered return an error message, and I pressed enter key when the field is empty, my custom error message is overlapped by my ValidationSummary.

Setting my custom error to visible = false on button click also does not seem to work as it requires for me to enter the value first.

This made me think, is there a way to insert my custom validation inside the ValidationSummary as an error message like for other validation control?

Thanks in advance

function prepareInputsForHints() {
	var inputs = document.getElementsByTagName("TextBox");
	for (var i=0; i<inputs.length; i++){

		if (inputs[i].parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0]) {
			// the span exists! on focus, show the hint
			inputs[i].onfocus = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "inline";
			// when the cursor moves away from the field, hide the hint
			inputs[i].onblur = function () {
				this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("span")[0].style.display = "none";
