Cannot install Sharepoint Server 2010 "A previous installation has been detected with a license type

I'm trying to upgrade to Team Foundation Server 2010 and Project Server 2010. After getting TFS 2010 and Project Server 2007 to work with WSS 3.0, I started upgrade to Project Server 2010 which requires update to Sharepoint Server 2010 Enterprise. I installed pre-requisites and run "stsadm -o preupgradecheck" which passed everything. When I tried to run the installation I get Setup Warning "A previous installation has been detected with a license type that does not match the install in progress". I thought that my trial licence for Project Server 2007 stopped this so I completely uninstalled WSS 3.0 and restarted the server but the installation still stops with Upgrade window. Any ideas? New SP 2010 Installation - Can't Get User Profiles / Outlook / My Site stuff working.

Hello,   I have a new SP 2010 Installation. I did NOT set it up in Standalone mode. My users can log in and create their own My Sites. They can edit them, add content, etc. When using Outlook 2010, they add one another in the People Pane. It shows up under My Site > My colleagues that they are connected. However, in Outlook, the MySite icon in the People Pane has a red X on it. I thought that User Profile Sync Service might be the culprit after reading through various blogs. However, if I go to Central Administration > Manage Profile Service : User Profile Service Application... if I click Configure Synchronization Connections, the page comes up - "The query returns nothing." I try to click "Create New Connection"... I get an error message - Cannot navigate to the requested page while User Profile Synchronization is running. Please wait for the current Synchronization to finish.   OK - I thought that the query returned no results. I don't see the service running... can someone point me in the right direction?

Sharepoint Ent. 2010 - Error during Installation from VM ISO

During Farm/Custom install on an Ent. 2008R2 VM with SQL 2008R2 installed. Using SW_DVD5_Office_SharePoint_Server_2010_64Bit_English_MLF_X16-43564.ISO from MAP. Error: SharePoint Error 1335. The cabinet file 'STS.CAB' required... Install must be cancelled as Retry does no good. ISO from Partner site. Hyper-V in Ent. 2008R2 connected to DVD drive. All is 64 bit. Could this be related to something in Pre-requisites or just a bad image from MS site?

Sharepoint 2010 Installation for 2 different developing machines and Server Please Help!

Hi All I am new to Sharepoint 2010. I need to do the following but I am not sure how to proceed. I have a server in the office and I have my laptop which I use to develop at home(offline) and at the office with. I am not sure how to configure my office server and my laptop.  I must be able to work on projects and then sync the project to the server at the office. There is also another developer which will require the same setup. I also need to know should I use Sharepoint Server or Foundation. I understands the differences between the two. I have read up as much as I can but it is all a bit confusing. Can anybody please point me in the right direction?

SharePoint 2010 Product Key to use upon installation Enterprise vs Internet

We are building a public facing SharePoint 2010 instance. Now of course we have to get the correct licences for public access and such, which we have done, but we have 2 licence keys one for "Enterprise" and one for "internet". What is the basic difference between using the "Enterprise" key VS the "internet" key? The install process asks for a product key, but does not give up any hints as to which key should be used for what purpose. When installing SharePoint 2010 for our public facing sites which Product key do we use? On the face of it you would think that the the "internet" key should be used because of the public facing requirement, but would that give you all of the other services (e.g., excel, infopath, visio, etc..) that the "Enterprise" key (Licence) provides? If you install with one key and realize after the fact that you needed to install with the other key can it be easily changed or is a re-install of SharePoint 2010 needed? Any assistance would be most appreciated    MatteoMatteo

SharePoint 2010 organization installation without access to Central Administration?

Our organization of 5000+ internal users and 1000 external vendors wants to integrate SharePoint 2010. We are are being mandated to use an offering of SharePoint 2010 in the cloud. All peer organizations are also being told to use this service, and we are all going to be on a single SP farm. We want to have several internal site collections, customization of MySites, an extranet, and a public facing site. We will not have the ability to access central administration ourselves, we have to go through a centralized state IT department and have them make changes for us. We will only have admin abilities for our own site collections. Installing 3rd party web parts will be a nightmare process as well as making small changes to central admin resources as we are dependent on their time-line to test and integrate these for us. What issues are we likely to see because of this, and is this even a feasible option for us? BTW, they do not uphold SLA agreements and currently they sometimes take days or weeks to fix issues, where our people would take care of it in hours if possible.

Error code -2068578304 When Installing Express SP1 x64 as a Part of Visual Studio 2010 Installation

Howdy! I was installing the VS 2010 on my server running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 and all of a sudden the setup finished with " Setup completed, however, there were failures reported installing optional components. " The final status is success. The left-hand pane of the finish page reads as: The following component failed to install: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64).   Leaving alone the fact why setup executed the custom action that tried to install SQL Server Express Edition and Compact Edition when I just asked it to install SQL components (which presumably should be SQL SMO and DMO libraries), I would like to understand what had happed to Express install.   Inspecting the .\Logs\dd_error_vs_vstdcore_100.txt file gives the following record:   [09/16/10,16:06:51] Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Service Pack 1 (x64): [2] Error code -2068578304 for this component is not recognized. SharePoint 2010 Workflow Stalls

I have a basic workflow that I built in SharePoint Designer that is waiting for a field to change on an InfoPath form and then updates a different field on the form and sends an email to the next approver.  It runs multiple times a day on several different InfoPath documents and has worked like a champ in SP2007 for the last year.  Since we upgraded to SP2010 I have encountered an instance where on occasion the workflow does not seem to recognize a field changing on the InfoPath form and just sits there waiting.  After several hours or usually the next day, if I go back into the form and resave it, it wakes up the workflow and things start working again.  This is an intermittent problem and does not seem to follow any pattern.  It can hang on various stages of the workflow and on various field updates.  It appears that the workflow can simply not recognize the InfoPath form being updated, but then with a subsequent resave will start working again.  Sometime I can resave the form immediately and get it flowing again.  Other times I have to go back and resave the next day to get it going again.

List privileges temporarily disappear after installation auf MOSS 2007 August 2010 CU

Hi all,

after installing the August 2010 CU for our English Sharepoint 2007 farm I randomly have the list menu buttons "New" and "Settings" missing.

The farm consists of two frontend servers, one backend (all three W2003R2 x32) and a SQL 2005 x64 database, also running Windows server 2003.

This appears for all users, including the site administration account. Strangely, after about 10 .. 20 minutes, the buttons re-appear and everything works fine.

Since I installed the August 2010 CU two weeks ago, I have had three occurrences of this phenomenon. Sharepoint Event Logs show no error at the time. IISReset did not fix the issue, it just "went away" after a short time.

Did anybody else experience this issue? Does anybody have a hint where to look for errors here or what might cause this?

Many greetings,

Unsupported 16-bit application error during SharePoint 2010 Prerequisites Installation

On Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit when installing SharePoint 2010 Prerequisites, I get the following error on the step "Installing Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5"

Unsupported 16-bit application
The program or feature "\??\C:\Users\AbcdUser\AppData\Local\Temp\ChaE305.tmp.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit compatible version is available.

Can someone please shed a light on how I can get Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed on 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2, so I can proceed to install remaining prerequisites required by SharePoint 2010?

WSS installation prior to Sharepoint 2010 Server

Hi, I am new to sharepoint. I have seen on different blogs / posts that MOSS 2007 Server and WSS are saperately installed. I wanted to know that does Sharepoint 2010 Trial setup already have these services inside it or we have to install WSS 3.0 saperately prior to Sharepoint 2010 setup ?
