Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF
Hi, We have an application 2 applications(asp.net), one is the web apps and the other one is wcf. we currently hosted those two into two different servers. It works fine... unfortunately our application having a security issue... and the solution is to have a sub directory in web apps, which is the wcf... BUT we got this error... The content type text/html; charset=utf-8 of the response message does not match the content type of the binding (text/xml; charset=utf-8). If using a custom encoder, be sure that the IsContentTypeSupported method is implemented properly. The first 1024 bytes of the response were: ' 3 stars and a sun

Directory lookup for the file failed with the operating system error 5

Hi I have a Windows desktop application that uses a SQLServer Express database.  The database files are downloaded from my website, followed by the application download (written in VBE).  The first procedure is to attach the database to the SQLServer instance from within the application. I have two test machines one runs Windows XP x84, the other Windows 7 x64.  I never have issues on attaching the database files in my test envirnoment but twice now other people downloading have got the following error System.Data.Sqlclient.sqlexception (ox 80131904) Directory lookup for the file C:\Documtents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Tem1.mdf failed with the operating system error 5 (failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason 1815) changed database context to 'master'. I'm not sure what the problem is and therefore how to correct the issue.  I attach the database in code using the create statement e.g. cmd7.CommandText = "USE Master CREATE DATABASE Tem1 ON PRIMARY (FILENAME = '" & DBFullPath & "') LOG ON (FILENAME = '" & DbLogPath & "') FOR ATTACH" Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Side-side by config error on Win7 64 apps if VS2008 is not installed on the system

Hi, I am using Win 764 bit application. When I try to run my application in target machine Iam gettting the following error. The application is running fine if the target machine has VS2008 and SP1 installed   "Unable to Load TekRobo Dll. The application has failed to start because its side -by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe for more detail (Exception from HRESULT:0x800736B1.)"        The Evn log viewer mesaage is as given below: Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Tektronix\TekRobo\TekRobo.dll". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.DebugCRT,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.   Actually the dll which has a problem is originally developed in VC++ and it is using Win32 APIs. Recendly I have moved the code base from VC6 to VS2008 and I have compiled the dlls in 64 bit mode. Any thoughts? Thanks,Mohan Mohan das Gandhi

error writing to directory in impersonated MVC APP

Hi All

I have an MVC app that produces a PDF  on a button click impersonation is turned on and the account that is impersonating is a domain account with full rights to the   C:\Users\TEMP.IIS APPPOOL\ directory and everything under it. Any idea why I can write to that directory?

Server Error in '/GPOS' Application.

Access to the path 'C:\Users\TEMP.IIS APPPOOL\AppData\Local\Temp\temp_496f2b08-7f40-4d5a-96d3-80e228fb2b24.rpt' is denied.

SQLServer Error: 15404 with Active Directory

I'm having trouble running jobs with my active directory (ADS) account. I've setup my SQL services to run under an ADS account, but jobs cannot seem to query ADS for user information. We're running Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 SP2.

 Here is the error message:

The job failed.  Unable to determine if the owner (ADS\me) of job eFASRtest has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'ADS\me', error code 0x5. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 15404)).

also this message in log:

[298] SQLServer Error: 15404, Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'ADS\me, error code 0x5. [SQLSTATE 42000] (ConnIsLoginSysAdmin)

I have done a *lot* of searching and cannot find the solution. I believe the 0x5 code is access denied.

The same job runs if I change the owner to a SQL login that's not an ADS account.

I'm not certain how to confirm that the SQL Agent account is the account actually querying ADS, also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Active Directory bulk data update error System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind(Boolean throwIf

we are trying to update bulk data into Active Directory from some database table. If we run for say 40000 users, it fails in between While updating its failing with an exception that. The server is not operational.

Classic ASP apps generating error '80070002'

I have a .Net 2.0 dll that is registered for COM interop.  This dll provides authentication for multiple web applications, so we have it registered in our webserver's GAC.  We've also registered it using "regasm my.dll"  For a while it was working with all of our applications, both classic ASP and .Net 2.0 varities.

Recently, our classic ASP applications started giving "error '80070002'" on the line where they tried to instantiate the object.  The weird part is that our .Net 2.0 applications are using the dll without any problems.  None of our applications have a local copy of the file; they all rely on the GAC version.  I've checked in the webserver's c:\windows\assembly directory and the correct versions of our dll are in there.

It is my understanding that being in the GAC would allow all applications access to it.  I haven't been able to find any reason why one set of applications can use it but not the other.

Any help is appreciated.

Claims Based Authentication and Custom Apps in _layouts Directory

Hello everyone,

When we originally setup our SharePoint 2010 installation, we used Windows Classic Authentication. We have since built a couple of custom applications using VS2010 and deployed them to the _layouts directory. These apps query information from our ERP system and display them on a web page. We keep this inside of SharePoint to be consistent with the look and feel of the rest of the intranet.

We had a consultant come in to help with some other items with our SharePoint install and we converted to Claims Based Authentication. Now, when trying to use these custom applications, they ask for a username and password when you submit the information to query. When you provide the info, it does not authenticate and fails after three attempts. Does anyone know what additional steps are necessary for these apps to use the Claims Based Security Tokens? I've scoured the internet for two days looking for answers and haven't come up with anything useful.

Active Directory Error

I get an error when I run the following code:

DirectoryEntry directory = new DirectoryEntry();
                directory.Path = "LDAP://" + ACTIVE_DIRECTORY_PATH;
                directory.Username = username;
                directory.Password = oldPassword;
                directory.AuthenticationType = AuthenticationTypes.Secure;
                directory.Invoke("ChangePassword", new object[] { newPassword });

It throws a nasty exception on direct.Invoke() and the error message is:

Unknown name. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020006 (DISP_E_UNKNOWNNAME))

I'd appreciate any help with this.
