WCF Multiple Custom Assemblies in IIS7

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF
Hi, I have a WCF service library that references a few sub-assemblies.  As an example, I have a service layer assembly and a business layer assembly.  When I attempt to deploy into an IIS 7 host, I keep getting the error: assembly 'business layer' could not be loaded.  Both the assemblies are in the bin directory and neither are in the GAC.  I'm trying to avoid introducing them there.  Is there somewhere in IIS or the web.config that I could update to tell it where to load the sub-assemblies? Please note that as a test, when I took out the reference to the business layer, the service compiled and was consumed by a test client successfully. Thanks, Kyle

Custom List Row association to multiple documents - Design choices?

I want to associate custom list entries to muliple documents. Thinking about options.   1 row will have many docs, but one doc will only have one row. Possible? Trying to keep it simple with minimal development. I was thinking I could have a unique column or the id column in the list act like a key (somehow).. and  add a required column to the document list requiring it to tie back to the list entry.  Then a view could drive listing all the docs for a particular row from a link in the list built in a custom dataview. All the docs could be in the same library. Is the the best approach? Ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts and related assemblies to develop custom ssis task are missing

Hi All, I tried to develop a simple ssis task but the problem that I can't refer the necessary assemblies like Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime And also Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap Microsoft.Sqlserver.DTSRuntimeWrap Microsoft.Sqlserver.ManagedDTS Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHost What is certan that they aren't installed within the GAC in my case, so where could I find them? I have SQL server 2008 entrprise edition Other question, should I use Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design and  Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS which are missed too, or they are part of the 2005 version only Thank you   The complexity resides in the simplicity

Can I change the location SSRS 2008 uses for custom assemblies?

According to all the documentation or articles I've read, in order for an SSRS 2008 report to use a custom assembly the DLL must be copied to 1) For local development on my box:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PublicAssemblies 2) For server deployment: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER2008\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin  I've got this all working just fine. However, I have a need to put this DLL file in a different location.  Is this possible?  Is there a way to reconfigure the server installation so that it looks for custom assemblies in a different location?  Is there something I can do in the SSRS report itself to force it to look for the custom assembly in a different location?

SharePoint Designer Workflow to email multiple recipients listed in a custom list

Hi all,

I created a workflow in designer attached to a form library. I also have a custom list "Admins" containing names of persons that serves a different purpose but would also like to be used as recipients for the workflow email everytime a new item in the form library is created.

I have been searching the net and tried out few work arounds but so far able to send to only one person in the "Admins" list. The list has a column "Admin Name" which is of type "Person or Group".

Thanks in advance!

How to pass multiple filter parameters to moss report viewer from custom filter provider

I have written a custom filter provider webpart which implements ITransformableFilterValues to pass parameter value to moss report viewer webpart.

However, this interface only allows to pass one parameter. Please can someone guide me through correct resource which allows my custom filter provider webpart to pass multiple parameters to report viewer. E.g if my report has 5 parameters then my filter provider webpart should allow me to make connection with report viewer and pass all 5 parameters.

Filtering on multiple items is disabling custom drill through actions

I am using Excel 2007 to connect to a SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services database.

I have defined a drill-through action that it works perfectly through Excel when I have selected only item selected in a filter in the pivot table. However, when I select multiple values in the filter the action doesn't even show up on right clicking and going to the Actions menu item.  The Actions menu item is disabled.

Is this an Excel bug?   Is there another way to set up the SSAS Action?  Why would selecting multiple items in a filter affect a drilldown action?

Can a single form create multiple entrys in a custom Sharepoint list

I want to have a form where the user can specify how many items she wants to create for a custom sharepoint list? When submitting the form, that will start creation of X number of new items in a custom Sharepoint list.

Is this doable with forms?

Custom Form Field in Collect Data Action doesnot capture multiple users.

I have a situation where the department head dynamically assigns the reviewers depending on the document that is uploaded. To capture the reviewers I added a Collect Data Action and a "Reviewers" form field, with type "Person/Group" and checked the following properties

1. Allow selection od People and Groups, 2. Choose from all users and more importantly 3. Allow multiple users

Although I am able to enter multiple users in the form, I am able to retrieve only the first user I entered and the rest just.. disappear!

Dynamic Data. Multiple Custom Pages For The Same Table

I've just started out my first project using Dynamic Data and I've been running into a series of problems. Dynamic Data doesn't seem to be swimming in documentation. Anyway, my setup is:

  • Visual Studio 2010
  •  .net 4.0
  • Dynamic Data Domain Service Web Application Project Template (I have the RIA Services for ASP .net installed)
  • using an Entity Data Model
  • using a DomainService class
  • ASP .net Membership

There are a couple of things I am trying to achieve:

  1. I have my scaffolding turned on for all the tables. I am using the RequiresRole attribute in order to restric access to some tables. I have understood how you can create a Custom Page Template for a certain table, no problems there. I would like to be able to use the default PageTemplates for lets say the Administrator role and the Custom Page Templates for another role; the idea would be that the Administrator would be able to edit anything in the DB, but the restricted user would receive a Custom Page with only a few actions available. Long story short: is there a way to access both the standard and custom templates?
  2. Related to question number 1: Can I have multiple Custom Page Templates for the same table? I saw someone asking

    Multiple SharePoint 2010 web applications as relying parties of a custom IP-STS

    Hi everybody,

    The challenge I'm facing is that I've set up a small farm for a client and the solution consists of three web applications (mainly scalability). What I primarily want to achieve is single sign-on (for authenticating users accessing the site) between the web applications, using FBA. I haven't found a single source indicating that merely using forms login is the way to achieve SSO in SP 2010. Rather, everything points to using a STS.

    We might end up using ADFS 2 but for now I've built a custom IP-STS, based on Starter STS. The problems that have arisen are related to establishing trust between SharePoint and the STS. Of course I've configured a SPTrustedIdentityTokenIssuer with the proper certs and so on. As far as I can tell, I get redirected to the STS login form, get authenticated properly and redirected back to the calling RP.

    What happens next is that if I have multiple RP:s configured (that is, one default realm and one provider realm) in the token issuer, upon redirection back to the calling RP the browser is stuck in an endless redirection loop. I've tried to use Fiddle to determine the "end points" of the loop and it seems to be a chain consisting of /_trust_layouts/authenticate.aspx and /_trust/default. It's worth noting that authenticate.aspx seems

Custom Control: Multiple children, "{0} can accept only one child."

Long story short - I'm trying to build a custom accordion control that in essence is a Scroll Viewer wrapped around a Stack Panel.  Once I get past the hump I'm at now which is getting the custom control to accept multiple children I should have no further issues.

Below is my style for the control:

  <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:ScrollableAccordion}">
    <Setter Property="Template">
        <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type local:ScrollableAccordion}">
          <Border Background="{TemplateBinding Background}"
              BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}"
              BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}">
          <ScrollViewer Height="{TemplateBinding Height}"
                 Width="{TemplateBinding Width}"

How to set the order of custom fields in custom list definition of Multiple Content Types

Hi all,

First of all I am sorry for my poor english.

I have a custom list definition and I have mentioned two content types in the "Schema.xml" file of this list. I need to change the order of fields in NewForm.aspx and EditForm.aspx.

For e.g. I have two content types ContentType1 and ContentType2. ContentType2 is inheriting ContentType1.

Fields of ContentType1 are

1. Field1

2. Field2

and Fields of ContentType2 are

1. Field3

2 Field4

When these fields display on new form the order of fields is

1. Field1

2. Field2

3. Field3

4. Field4

But I need to change the order of field by

1. Field1

2. Field3

3. Field2

4. Field4

Can anyone help me to change the display order of fields in new and edit form?

Thanks & Regards,
