Simulate Keypress

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Windows Application
Hi, I'm trying to make a simple routine for controlling another program using the SendKeys Method. I have managed to get through single key presses, but the CTRL + LEFT ARROW does'nt have any effect.   SendKeys.Send("a")                        - Works SendKeys("{Enter}")                       - Works SendKeys.Send("^({RIGHT})")          - Does'nt work   Link to SendKeys Method: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8c6yea83%28VS.85%29.aspx   An alternative to holding down the CTRL, then pressing LEFT ARROW ( CTRL + LEFT ARROW), would be to simulate a "MediaPreviousTrack" keypress.   Any ideas? Thanks :)

How to simulate auto-exists between dimensions

well, not really 'auto-exists'...
but, suppose for one company I have 2 dimensions amongst others in a star schema:

1. business locations
2. customers, including a user-hierarchy 'location - customer'

I often need this user-hierarchy but only for the location selected in the business location dimension. How can I narrow the user-hierarchy?
It sounds simple, but there are some pitfalls that bother me when taken all together:

a. The locationID in the customer dimension is not the key of the location in the location dimension.

b. I can't use (as far as I know) common functions like non empty, nonempty(), filter-expressions with measure=0,
because the customers are usually crossjoined with some sets like products, they *do not* have bought
- e.g. tell me the customers of my location X that have bought more than 1000 in product category A but nothing in product subcategory B2.
When I use non empty & Co then customers of all locations came up.

c. I must use the location dimension, because the cube security roles use it to show the responsible persons for one location just the customers of their location.

d. I need a parameterized mdx solution for Reporting Services 2008 reports.

Thanks in advance

Getting a virtual keypress sent to Java app inside IE

I was referred to this forum from VB General by Liliane Teng.  She believes I could acheive my goals by using sockets.  Please see below:

So far I have been able to get my simple VB (Visual Basic 2010 Express) app to send a keypress to notepad without a hitch.  I highlight a number in notepad, type my hotkey (CTRL+5) and just like intended, my app performs:

Setp 1: Virtual Keypress "CTRL+C" (Using sendkeys.sendwait)

Step 2: Read the clipboard, Do some simple math, and send the result to the clipboard

Step 3: Virtual Keypress "CTRL+V" (Using sendkeys.sendwait)

Step 4: Vitrual Keypress "Tab" (Using sendkeys.sendwait)

...Repeat Step 3 and 4 four more times.

The problem is, I don't want to do this in Notepad.  I want this app to function in a java app in IE.  Actually doing the physical keypresses in the Java app works just fine, but for some reason sendwait completely fails to work.  If someone could direct me to another method for sending keypresses, or explain how I can get the required information out of the java app window
