SharePoint 2007 Web Application Images

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
When I create a new web application in MOSS 2007 the images are broken. I find "Red Cross" symbols but no images. To my surprise I have created plenty of applications before but I never had any such issues. The images on other applications on the same server work absolutely fine but when I try to create a new one I find this problem. I have also tried the following: 1. Added "Everyone" to the Images application 2. Checked the permissions on the site and folders 3. When I try to browse to the image it gives me a 403 forbidden error. In the Log files i see 403 1 5 0 error for all the images. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

User Profiles Service Application and Import of SharePoint 2007 SSP data

I have setup a test SharePoint 2010 Farm. I will be using this as a test upgrade of a current live SharePoint 2007 Farm. The database attach method will be used. I have replicated the web application and AAM settings of the SharePoint 2007 Farm to the SharePoint 2010 Farm and have made the 2010 Farm a DC in a new Forest. I don't want to join this to the current domain at the moment. It also has SQL server 2005 with SP3 and cumulative update 3 installed. I have just setup the User Profiles Serice Application and when I go to Manage it, I get this. Error An unexpected error has occurred.   Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation. Correlation ID: a1760e87-372f-4711-afac-3ceba34bc599 Date and Time: 8/31/2010 4:22:56 PM I have verified and configured the following. Created the Managed Metadata Service. The status is started via Service Applications and Services on Server. Created the User Profiles Service Application and ensured status is started via Service Applications. I started the User Profile Service and User Profile Synchronisation Service via Manage Services on Server.

Problem create a web application on SharePoint 2007 (Project Server 2007)

I installed a Project Server 2007 in a 3 server structure (all Win 2003 sp2; one for App server hosting Central Admin, Project Server service & Search service; one for web server; one for database server).  They are only in the same domain and I use the same network account for the installation as well as the WSS service account.  The same network are local admin for those 3 servers. All installation & patches seem ok (at least I don't get error messages) until I attempt to create my first Web Application.  After I filled out the web appliction and try to click OK, the page does not change and i saw the java error at the right bottom corner from my IE browser (version 6). The message is .... Uploading images to Sharepoint 2007

I created a column called "images" in a form. I just want users to be able to add an image along with a word doc to make their content more visual. The picture field asks for a WEB ADDRESS to the image. Shouldn't there be a 'browse' option so any user can upload the image?  How do I even get a web address to an image on my pc?

Migrate Sharepoint 2007 DB to 64-bit Windows Application Error

Hi All,

I am in the process of migrating my companies MOSS environment to 64bit.

I am following the directions on the technet article here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd622865(office.12).aspx

Phase 1 of the plan is to migrate the databases to their new server first.

I have followed the given instructions, and all databases are on the new server (and deleted off the old) but something in Sharepoint is still pointing to the old SQL server. On the application servers, I am getting the following windows event every few seconds:

Cannot connect to SQL Server. SOMSQL01\MOSSTEST not found. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

Central Admin also says that the SQL server is the old one. I know that it is actually using the new server because the old server has been switched off and all the sites are still functioning correctly.

Central Admin also shows that the main database server is still the old one, but has the new one listed under Operations - Servers in Farm.

Trying to remove the old server using the 'Remove Server' link under Operations - Servers in Farm simply reloa

SharePoint 2007 workflow problem Application Event Viewer shows Event 1314

I created a state machine workflow that works well in a test environment with only one user. When attempting to run the workflow in the production environment, the user sees the message operation in progress. The workflow will not continue. The event log on the server shows Event ID 1314, Event Code 4011. It looks like this has something to do with permissions on the server but I'm not sure where to go from here. I've Googled this and not been able to find a resolution. Any help would be appreciated.

Integrating a Legacy Web Application in SharePoint

This month we will continue with the theme of deploying Microsoft's SharePoint as a company intranet by describing a method for integrating a legacy Web application inside a SharePoint site.

In many companies the intranet site is not just a home page with announcements. It houses Web applications used by many different departments. In last month's article, I built a page to search the employee table in Northwind (the sample database included in Microsoft's SQL Server). This month, I will move the Web pages used to add/remove records from the table into the SharePoint intranet.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Application Vs. Content Pages in SharePoint

SharePoint has two types of ASPX pages. One type is the application page, also known as a _layout page. The other type of ASPX page is a content page, also known as a site page. Each of these page types is stored in a different location in SharePoint. When developers create custom ASPX pages, they must decide on the page type.

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Using SharePoint Search feature in ASP.Net Application

Integrating ASP.Net application in to MOSS 2007 to utilize SharePoint Enterprise Search Feature can be done by using Business Data Search.

SharePoint 2007 Workflows - Things to Consider Before You Start

SharePoint 2007 (MOSS) utilizes the Workflow Foundation (WF) to enable workflows on lists and content types. But before you start doing cartwheels there are few things you should know before you get started. The experiences I'll be discussing are not from book smarts but from building real MOSS solutions that are in production today.

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).
