Report Builder Report manage data sources - relink programmatically

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
As part of a site definition solution several report builder report rdl files are uploaded to a report folder.  After a site is created with the defintion, the reports must be manually re-linked to the data source through the UI context menu ("Manage Data Sources").  I have been trying to figure out how to do the re-linking programmatically without luck.  Any ideas? ( Reporting Services is configured as integrated with sharepoint)

Report with two data sources

Hello, I have two data sources: an Oracle table and a SSAS cube. I need to make a report with some information from the table and some from the cube. Example:   Oracle table ID, Comment SSAS ID, Value, Description Report ID (the join key); Value; Description; Comment.   Is it possible to do that? Many thanks

What are my options when I need to create a report with data from multiple sources?

Hello all,  What are my options when I want to create a report that will get records from multiple data sources based on data from a parameter? The user will enter the customer ID, I have to check that ID against 5 different data sources. Have you guys done anything similar? Should I leverage SSIS on this request, adding an extra layer of complexity? Should I do this all from SSRS? What are my options?

Creating a report from multiple data sources

I am working on a report where it requires pulling data from various sources, databases and data exported into excel sheets from different databases. The objective of the report is to create a single report with all the Providers (HPs) that have been terminated. So what I have done is that I have exported all the data on a local server in the pubs database and I am using a TSQL query to return the report. The same providers may exists in the various data sources so I have to make sure that I am only returning the data once...how ever the challenge is that, other than FirstName and LastName, there are no consistent IDs that we can use in all. For example, not all of the records have the SSN, PhoneNumber, or other IDs that uniquly identify the record. I have to create a report that returns the result set and identifiys the matching records and the source system the data is from..for example the output should display as such: Termed System firstname lastname SSN homephone phonenumber Active System AMIE Jeannine Donigan NULL 3522631007 Nurse SL Linde Peggy Vanrensselaer NULL 6077321218 Sbdev Below is the approach I I have taken to return the data and I wanted to know if there is a more efficient and better way of doing this: DECLARE @matchingTerminated Table ( FirstName Varchar(255), LastName Varchar(255), Gender Varchar(255), SSNEncrypted varchar(255), Birt

Report Builder:The type of the data source has not been specified.

I am getting the folloing error when I try to run the reeeport through report builder

The type of the data source has not been specified.

An error has occurred during report processing.

Please tell me what can i do to avoid this

Can Report Builder mimic something like MS Word's "Column" formatting with a lot of table data?

I want to make a report that shows the sign-in of a list of people. There will be anywhere from 40-200 people signing in per day. I need to print this data. The columns in the row are small: [firstname, lastname, id number].

What I would like to do is have 2-3 mega-columns, which each "mega"-column contains [firstname, lastname, id number]. I'm using the phrase mega-column to distinguish from a normal column in the context of a table.

Is that possible with report builder? My production platform is IIS7.5 with ASP.NET 4 and MVC3. I am planning on generating PDFs for the user to print. However, right now it looks simpler to just format html with stylesheets and have that print.

Any help would be appreciated.

data connections in data connection libraries as consumed by Report Builder and SSRS

A data connection to a SQL DB is created and published to a data connection library in SharePoint 2010.  When Report builder or SSRS consume this connection, does the actual network connection happen between the SP server and the DB or the client machine and the DB?  And is this different based on whether you use SSRS or Report Builder?

The reason for the question is that the firewall is open between the SP farm and the DB but NOT between the client machine and the DB and I'm trying to figure out if this will be a problem or not.

Additional clarifications that may be helpful.  SSRS (SQL 2008 R2) is in SharePoint integrated mode and we are specifically talking about rsds files.

Stored Data Source Credentials in Report Builder 3.0

I have setup a SQL Reporting Services 2008 R2 server which contains data sources that connect to databases on a remote SQL 2008 server.  In the data source the connection string is defined and "Connect using:" is set to "Credentials Stored Securely in the Report Server", I have entered the credentials required to connect to the remote SQL 2008 server where the database resides and there is no problem when I choose "Test Connection".

When I access the Report Builder through the SSRS website and create a new report I can add the data source to the report without an issue.  When I try to create a new dataset and specify to "Use a dataset embedded in my report" I can choose the data source but when I try to then open the Query Designer I am prompted to enter the credentials for the data source.  The username I saved in the data source on the Reporting Server seems to default in however the password does not.

I see on MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159736.aspx) the following:

"You can specify a single set of stored credentials that a report server uses to access external data for a report. Stored credentials are used if the report runs unattended. The report server retrieves and uses the credent

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

The report cannot be opened because the data source associated with it is not a report model.

i tried to open a report i created in sql business intelligence development studio in the report builder in wss3 and it gave me this error:

Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportBuilder.ReportModel.Report: The report 'http://servername:port#/Reports/report.rdl' cannot be opened because the data source 'http://servername:port#/DataSource Library/datasource.rsds' associated with it is not a report model.

This report was not created in Report Builder. Try opening this report in Report Designer instead.

can i fix this so i can open my reports in report builder?

Report Builder in sharepoint is not working.

We are using below Topology in production
Topology is 3 servers:
Sever1: Sharepoint Form (wss3.0 no MOSS)
Sever2: Sql server 2008
Server3: Reporting Services 2008
Operating system on 3 servers: Windows server 2008.
Authentication mode: Form based authentication.

SSRS reports are working success fully in SharePoint using above topology, The issue is through SharePoint library when i am trying to access report builder reports the client is installing, after enter the credentials it is not connecting to server and am getting the following error "Unable to connecting server at 'http://servername/Reports/Forms/AllItems.aspx'  please use different url

The above issue on production only.

But in local development box there is no problem (in my development box SharePoint t, database (sql) and reporting service sits on my box only)

Thanks for your he
