The "60 days clean-up syndrome", how to recover?

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi, Like many others, I woke up just to find that SP job has deleted my WF tasks (and history) from a critical system... The tasks are being displayed in all the reports and are important to understand the flow of a process. Now we must recover the data somehow, we are mostly interested in recovering the WF instance and tasks. We have DB backups. I know we should deal with the Workflow table, from which table does the tasks items come? Any tips? Free tools to recover list items from DB backup?   10x in advanced....

Single-page restore/recover in an online database

I am working with SQL Server 2008 64-bit (10.0.2531) on Windows Server Datacenter 2008 SP2 (64-bit). The problems I am having almost certainly stem from my lack of understanding of how SQL Server's transaction log is handled during recoveries. I am using this document as a rough guide. Here' what I am doing: 1. I intentionally corrupt a single data page in a normal table, so that I can practice single-page recovery. 2. I attempt to read the corrupt block in SQL. As expected I receive an error. 1> select top 10 firstname from ds2.dbo.customers 2> go Msg 824, Level 24, State 2, Server IP-0AF647E0, Line 1 SQL Server detected a logical consistency-based I/O error: incorrect pageid (expected 4:896; actual 3:0). It occurred during a read of page (4:896) in database ID 5 at offset 0x00000000700000 in file 'C:\sql\dbfiles\cust1.ndf'. Additional messages in the SQL Server error log or system event log may provide more detail. 3. I take a log tail backup before I do anything to try to fix the corruption: 1> backup log ds2 to disk = 'c:\sqlbackup\ds2.bak' with norecovery 2> go Processed 5 pages for database 'ds2', file 'ds_log' on file 1. BACKUP LOG successfully processed 5 pages in 0.041 seconds (0.857 MB/sec). 4. I  restore the corrupt page from backup: 1> restore database ds2 page='4:896' 2> from disk='c:\sqlbackup\ds2.bak' 3> with norecovery 4&

How to Recover accedently Deleted data without restoreing the backup ??

How to recover from Derived Column Transformation Editor corrupting table metadata?

Hi there, In attempting to use the DCTE to replace the value in a field with a trimmed version (SSN = trim(SSN)), it seems that my meta-data has become corrupted by the Derived Column drop-down list. As a result, #1: I no longer see my incoming SSN field in the "columns" tree, and any reference to it is deemed "invalid", even though it's value does make it out of the Data Transformation process. How can I get back the reference to this field without redoing this entire task? And, #2: in the process, DCTE created new columns with "SSN" prefixed by the task name, such as "trim character fields.SSN". How can I delete these? It seems that one slip of the mouse in this form can lead to irreversible corruption of the meta-data, which the "debugger" then references and uses to "invalidate" subsequent work. I have tried everything I can think of to refresh this, including using the "Advanced Editor" and reloading the entire package. Any ideas? Thanks, Karl Kaiser

Trying to recover data from Sharepoint Workspace files

I am running sharepoint workspace as part of our Office 2010 product.  We are heavy users.  I am recovering from a hard drive crash and reinstalling all programs on a new hard drive.  I can access the old drive, and I am trying to figure out how, and where, the data might be.

Error 3417 - cannot recover the master database

Dear All,

After checking my event viewer message of mssql 2005, I have the following error :

"Cannot recover the master database. SQL Server is unable to run. Restore master from a full backup, repair it, or rebuild it. For more information about how to rebuild the master database, see SQL Server Books Online."

I currently do not have any back up of the master database and Im not sure how to go about repairing it if I cannot log into the enterprise console as the database engine will not start without the master database.

Kindly advice.

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Kind regards,

How do I recover xml from an SSIS String variable?

When I get my resulting xml from a webservice task, the response is not only well formed, but actually valid. When I put it into a string variable for passing it along to the next task in SSIS, the XPATH against it in the XML task it fails because what happens is the XML got munged as it went into a string. All the quotes got escaped and all the linefeeds and newlines ended up as \r\n, etc.

Is there a way to avoid this or recover from this without having to save the xml to file and then load the xml from the file for the next task?

Here is the situation... I had to move my operations manager installation to a new server.

1- I stopped sql server and made a veritas back up of the databases and log files

SQL Server 2008 SP1 - How to recover a "corrupted" DB ?

Hello All !

The context: on a server, I have a SQL server 2008 database SP1 (x64 - US). This DB had never been backuped since 3 or 4 years. The last day, somebody decides to backup it because out of space (backup database db to disk = 'F:\save\db.bak'). The "db.bak" is 25 GB. This DB was in Full recovery mode. Then this DB is set to "simple" recovery mode. A shrinkdatabase command was ran on this db and another backup was done.

Normally, this db should be at 5 Gb for 3 or 4 exploitation years.

Results: customer phones and : log db file is about 146 GB and the DB seems "bad". When they run "dbcc checkdb" on this DB, the query is very, very, very long and no result.

How can I recover this DB ?

Thanks for advance for your ideas / help - Regards - Have a nice day ! RHUM2

Recover last version of file properties in MOSS document library

After an overwrite to several hundred files we need a quick way to either restore the entire file to the previous version or ideal just the custom property fields.

I tried to find a way to script a query into the document library and collect the previous version custom data into an excel spreadsheet but could not find a solution.

I came across this post that indicated he was able to restore only the file properties but retained the current version (which was not his gold but would be mine).

He included a snippet of his code:

Would this work? is there a powershell equivalent?

Whats the easies way to make this code into a useful solution.

int versionCount = item.Versions.Count;
if (versionCount > 0)
// this only restores properties

Recover mdf files which got deleted after uninstalling with revo uninstaller

I had both sql server 2005 dev edition and sql server 2008 express installed on my laptop. Now there was a problem with my sql server 2008 and I wanted to reinstall it.

I made the mistake of using a third part uninstaller called revo uninstaller. This program not only executed the uninstall program of Sql Server 2008 but also deleted all related folders and registry entries. This caused the unintended side-effect of deleting even my sql server 2005 folders.

All my mdfs are gone. I tried a undelete program Recuva, but it doesnt find any mdf files.

Please help.

How to recover from mdf file (SQL Server 2000)

My database corrupted because when I was running an update query, there is a power failure. After the computer booted, I cannot open the database anymore, it just not responding. Then I stop the sql server service, and tried to rename the .mdf and .ldf. After that it worked normally, but I need the data from the corrupted mdf file, I tried to attach the database but it just hanged. I even tried to attach without the .ldf file but it didn't work either, so I concluded that the problem is with the mdf file.

Is there any way to recover my data ??

Thanks in advance
