Method/Way to know whether a input path of FilesSystem contains any Child file/folder or not

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hi,I am looking for a Method/Way to know whether a input path of FilesSystem contains any Child file/folder or not. To know it currently I am using "Directory.GetFileSystemEntries(Path).Count" and checking if count > 0 then returning True else False. For this first method calculates all the files and folder and then return status to me but I want to exit out as soon as my method gets first element(file/folder) in specified path. Because above method is timing out when my input path contains more than 1 million files. I just need to check whether input folder path contains any child file/folder or not. I have tried to use Win32 API also but on ther server it is crashing so I donot want to use that solution. In .NET any method or way is present to know it. Please suggest me.

how to pass XML file path as input string to a Stored Procedure

Hello All,

I need to pass the file path (or hardcode the XML file path ) of an XML file to a stored procedure. This SP will then read the values from the XML file and based on these values the Insertion / updation will be done thereafter.

I am not able to pass the XML file path to this stored procedure.  Right now I an doing as givn below :

DECLARE @idoc int
DECLARE @doc varchar(1000)
SET @doc ='
  <add key="approvalMode" value="On" />
EXEC sp_xml_preparedocument @idoc OUTPUT,'c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\HealthandSafety\Aspx\ApprovalMode.xml'

FROM OPENXML (@idoc,'/configuration/appSettings/add',0)
      WITH ([key]  varchar(10),
            value varchar(20))
EXEC sp_xml_removedocument @idoc

Here any change in the xml file needs to be changed in the SP too. This will lead to double work as later on this SP will be made as an SQL job.

Is there a way I can pass or hardcode the XML file path in the SP rather than duplicating the XML file contents again

Please advice!!

Programmatically delete a .webpart file from wpcatalogs folder from an IIS website

We are using a third party wsp in our solution which directly adds the web parts into the web application store rather than the web part gallery(References to them are present in IIS site's wpcatalog directory). We want to remove these web part files so that the users will not be able to add these web parts to pages directly. Or any other modification so that users will not be able to add these directly. Is there a way we can do this programmatically?

How do I find the file path from a namespace.class name?

I'm programatically looking ito a .aspx file and getting the file class name declared in its CodeBehind. For example, when analyzing myFile.aspx I read in its Page Directive and found its CodeBehind equals "myApplication\myPage.aspx.vb". Then I use the code below:

Dim Assm As System.Reflection.Assembly = System.Reflection.Assembly.LoadFrom("myApplication\bin\myApplication.dll")
Dim ClassType As Type = Assm.GetType("myApplication\myPage.aspx.vb")
' myBaseType = "myApplication.Forms.BasePage"
Dim myBaseType As System.Type = ClassType.BaseType

Now I want to read the BaseFile (class = myApplication.Forms.BasePage). However, to read in this file, I need I need to get its full path instead of its namespace.class hiearchy. In this case, the BasePage is wrapped in a different namespace declaration thus I cannot just change the '.' to '\' in order to get the path.

How can I get the path of BasePage so I can read it? Thank you - Frank

why I can not upload file to web by using WebClient.UploadFile method?

I am using WebClient.UploadFile method to upload a file to a web page.

The code is like this:

WebClient client = new WebClient();
byte[] responseBinary = client.UploadFile(url, fileName);
string response = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(responseBinary);

But I can not upload it to server.

I used fiddler to see what happens, and it shows me the following information:

http status code: 302, request headers: POST /testing/upload/default.aspx HTTP/1.1

http status code: 302, request headers: GET /testing/upload/default.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 HTTP/1.1

http status code: 200, request headers: GET /(X(1)S(22pynhvxd3eqsb455pudx145))/testing/upload/default.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 HTTP/1.1

I would like to know, why I get 302 code, and why it redirect me to the strange url with (X(1)S(22pynhvxd3eqsb455pudx145)) ?

By the way, the web page is ok to upload file by using web explorer.

Access to path xxx denied when uploading a file using c#

Hi I have a file upload app written in c#. The app runs on IIS on a Windows 2003 Server OS. I want the app to upload the file onto the server (The app and the server are on the same machine). This code has been working fine for a long time running on Windows Server 2000, and Windows XP Professional. Now when I moved onto Windows Server 2003, it stopped working. I have given ASPNET account full access to the folder on the server, and it still gives this error. Is this a bug in 2003, and can anybody assist me? Thanks Shane

I am trying to generate this format of xml and having difficulties because of the properties section. When I check out a Word 2007 document from a list, I cannot save it back to the server.  I get:   This file cannot be saved to this location because there is no connection to the server.  Check your network connection and try again.   I am using a Virtual Machine (Virtual PC).  I have the Microsoft Loopback adapter installed.    The server has a static IP address and is a domain controller. I am able to access the web folder through Windows Explorer.   How do I set up Office, Sharepoint and Webdav so that I can check files out of sharepoint and save them back, on a virtual machine?

using application configuration file in AppData special folder

Hi! So I understand it is a best practice to save the application configuration files under the AppData folder, rather than in Program Files, since UAC will restrict write acces to the Program Files folder, which is fine. Now, saving the configuration file to another location is no problem, using the SaveAs method. However, when I load the application, I expect some settings to be read. From what I know, this is done either using direct calls to the ConfigurationManager class, either initializing a Configuration object. For the first case, a example is this: if (ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Title"] != null) { this.Title = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Title"]; titleTextBox.Text = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["Title"]; } For the second case, I would use it like this: Configuration config = ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration( ConfigurationUserLevel.None); string setting = config.AppSettings.Settings["Title"].Value.ToString(); So, if the application runs in the Program Files folder, an exception is thrown when I save the file. However, if I save the file using SaveAs and save it to AppData folder, obviously, when loading, the settings are not loaded from the AppData folder, but from the configuration file existing in the Program Files folder. One way to solve

How to get a file path in a class library used by asp.net

 Hello,   I have an asp.net application which employs a class project to process xml files. I have an xsd file within the class project. To load the xsd file, I am not sure which path I should use. The following code snippet loads the xsd, and reads the xsd using the StreamReader. I am not sure how to set the value for xsdPath variable.// 2- Read Schema file content StreamReader SR = new StreamReader(xsdPath); // 3- Create a new instance of XmlSchema object XmlSchema Schema = new XmlSchema(); // 4- Set Schema object by calling XmlSchema.Read() method Schema = XmlSchema.Read(SR, new ValidationEventHandler(ReaderSettings_ValidationEventHandler)); Thanks

How to set and map a Method in the Service file with endpoint elements and binding elements

Hi all, I have created a service file like OSService.svc in that i have two methods like one is FileUpload and FileDownload for e.g :- [WebInvoke(UriTemplate = "/fileupload/{fileName}" , Method = "POST" )]         [OperationContract]         void FileUpload(string fileName, Stream fileContents); same as Filedownload also. People you may know these methods are inside the interface of service file what you are using i'e i have created a interface as IOSService.cs. The below code was i'm using right now but still i'm not able to the set separate value of endpoint elements in the bindings. EndPoint Section:- <endpoint name = "endPoint1"  address  = "localhost:8000/OSService.svc/" bindingConfiguration = "TransactionalTCP"   binding  = "netTcpBinding"          contract = "IOSService"/> Binding Section:-  <binding name = "TransactionalTCP"  transactionFlow = "true"   /&
