Programmatically Generated Reports (RDLC) ASP.NET C#

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 30, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Good Day,   I been looking for a day now and I couldn't find a good source of information. I have a one of a kind report wherein the RDLC file including all controls are programmatically generated (system generated)  by one of my asp.net page. All fields and its values to be displayed on the RDLC file are coming a stored procedure. On my stored procedure I'm using a temp table for example #MyTable and its columns can adjust programmatically/automatically base on date range. BTW I'm using C# code to generate the RDLC file and preview it on the report viewer of a page. Sample: Date Range: 01/01/2008  to 12/31/2009  My temp table may look like below AssetCode, Description, Class,  Jan2008, Feb2008, Mar2008 --> until column reach Dec2009 AAAA00001, AAAAAAA,FF, 0.00, 0.00,1,00.00 --> some month#### column may not or may contain value base on my formula. AAAA00002, BBBBBBB,FF, 0.00, 1.00,1,00.00 --> some month#### column may not or may contain value base on my formula. AAAA00003, CCCCCCC,CE, 1.00, 1.00,1,00.00 --> some month#### column may not or may contain value base on my formula. I have no problem in retrieving all data on SQL Server using temp table and showing it on a system generated rdlc file even if I'm using

How to programmatically hide SSRS reports

I've built a process to deploy several reports to SSRS in either native mode or SharePoint integrated mode.  I'd like to programmatically hide several SSRS reports when deploying them to a sharepoint site.  I believe I need to do something like this -  http://www.mssqltips.com/tip.asp?tip=1357.  Any pointers?  I'm new to SharePoint development. Thx.

RDLC reports with Rich text support

I have read from the following link which stated that Microsoft made this feature available in Visual Studio 2010. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/brianhartman/archive/2010/04/20/visual-studio-2010-is-now-available.aspx Can anyone please tell me how to use this? Thanks in Advance!!! Best Regards, Subalakshmi Vijayarajan.

Programmatically export reports

Hi all

I have the following configuration MOSS 2007 + SSRS 2005 running in moss integrated mode.

I have a bunch of reports in the MOSS 2007 document library and I'm looking for a way to do the following:

From a custom web part, when user clicks some button pass parameters selected by user on a web part to a report and export report to a fileshare.

I've tried to cope with subscriptions but I can't find how I can override reports parameters. It seems to me that I have to deal with SSRS service model directly since I wasn't able to find any other API.

So the question is how to do that with SSRS web services from MOSS web part programmatically? Maybe there is another way?

Convert Text to Numeric in reports generated by Microsoft SQL Server 2000

Our programming team is producing Excel reports using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and cannot seem to find a way to produce numeric data as numeric.  It is being produced in the spread sheet as text (with the green triangle in the corner of the cell).  If the user viewing the report has an older version of Excel they cannot even convert it to numeric manually.

Is there a way to produce numeric data as numeric in the Excel report?

How to test reports generated using web intelligence and sql server?

Hi all,

How to test reports generated using web intelligence and sql server?

One way of validating the data is to write sql query based on the report requirement and match the resultset with the data of the report. Then for testing the front end, based on the report requirement, validate the filters or prompts, formatting , printing and exporting feature of the report.

what else can be tested? is it necessary to test the Universe as well? like integrity checking, closed loops, joins etc..?or just run the sql query against the database from which the universe is created and match with the data in the report??

Could anyone Please advice me asap.

Thank You

RDLC Reports

Ok this may be a silly question, but it has me stumped.

Im running vs2010

I have created a rdlc report for invoicing. I have added several subreports which are dependant on client / service etc. This all works fine. However, I now need to add a subreport that displays the payment methods, which is dependant on each client. If we have a direct debit on a client then I include subreport Child_Invoice_DDCollectDetails, which again works fine. What has stumped me is trying to create a subreport Child_Invoice_ManualPayment, which does not contain any datasource. This report is basicly a test report stating our manual methods of payment. How can I create a RDLC report to use as a subreport that does not need any datasource?

This has now been resolved by using using a tablix on the main invoice and hiding / showing through an expression

state for programmatically generated controls

I've got a web page that includes a user control.  The page represent an order and the user control represents the line items.  Since the number of line items can be modified, the user control is programmatically creating an HtmlTable for formating and some associated WebControls for each line.  To add a line, I add an empty HtmlRow and the corresponding WebControls to the table.  The question is how do I manage state for these programmatically created controls and how can I query their values on post back?

The EnableViewState property is set for all WebControls, but how to find these controls on post back? Is it valid to cache a pointer to a TextBox in session state when creating a page (i.e. will the pointer be valid on post back)? Do I have to save the values of all of the controls into session state?

I've tried using FindControl() using both the ID's I gave and the ones that show up in the page source, but both return null.

I was tasked with understanding and fixing a bug on error reporting with foreach iteration variables the other day, and it got me thinking about local variable scoping rules in C# in general. First, the bug.
