I've got a textbox where the user enters data and I've got a DropDownlist, with 2 fields in it (code and tag) I need to create a stored procedure which uses the textbox, but it also uses the field names from the DropDownList it's kind of  like this ' if user chooses 'code':where code= textbox1.text 'if user chooses 'tag':where tag=textbox1.text How can this be done?

Using Ajax AutoCompleteExtender on dynamic fields

I have quite a problem with a form that contains an autocomplete function. The page is an aspx page with c# codebehind.

On the form there is an address field that the user can type in any string address. This field is using an Ajax autocomplete extender, which suggests roadnames to the user. This works fine.
Furthermore the user has the option to add multiple address fields when clicking a button. This works fine now with Jquery. Jquery copies the table which contains, besides other fields, the address field, and "paste" it underneath the existing adress field.

Problem is, how do I attach the Ajax autocomplete extender to the address fields that gets added? Or is there another workaround to make all these fields have this autocomplete function?

Here is my simplfied code:

aspx page:

<td width="200">
  <asp:TextBox ID="TextBoxStopRoadName" runat="server" Width="200"></asp:TextBox>
      <asp:AutoCompleteExtender runat="server"

Dynamic Sproc or Multiple Sprocs

Hi All, I am currently working on a system where a section of the application (Tasks) uses one Sproc and Consistently built views to generate the Tasks. The idea being that if you use a consistent build for your views and add them to a Lookup table then the Procedure can iterate through the task views and generate the Tasks for a given person. My question is around this process. In Oracle I probably would have built a package and then added separate procedures for each of the new views instead of dynamically generating the list. I really like that this process enforces consistency, but something about it just doesn't feel right (Lookup table and iterating through the views to generate output). I just wanted to see what the SQL gurus out there thought about this process. I am not pushing a right or wrong just trying to always question the way I am doing things and look for a better method. Always appreciate the feedback.   --B

Creating Dynamic Group Fields for a Crystal Report?

I have a VB.Net application which generates quite a few Crystal Reports. One report in particular has a Group Section. What I am trying to do with my VB.Net app is pass a value (a sql server column name used in the report). This value is represented by radio buttons. For example, the user may check either "ZipCode" or "State" or "Category" or "Type" or "Vendor". Each of these options represent a column in the database table used in the report. I simply want to be able to write the "SelectionFormula" using one of these options but not sure how to go about it. Thanks, Blake

Dynamic rows(fields) generation in crystal reports

Hi.....frnds,     I am working on Crystal reports. My requirement is that i need to  generate dynamic fields according to the count of Family_Members column in sql server database, for example if i have '4' in 'Family_Members' column i need to generate 4(Family members details)dynamically.

generate dynamic fields crystal report

I want to add a Dynamic column in Crystal report at run time. Because I dont know about the columns in design time. The columns will come based on the user selection. So i want to Add a column to Crustal report at run time. I am using Crystal report. If it is not support to add column in Crystal report at runtime. Please kindly give the other solution or other third party tool like. Which version will support to add dynamic column in Crystal report? i already used the crosstab report but thats not work for my scenario.becoz i want to add another colums at right side ( after total of each row ) , which is crosstab report not supported

dynamic fields added/removed depending on user selection

Is it possible to dynamically add/remove fields upon creating an item in a list?

For example:
If user selects from drop down list and chooses "Booked"

and a date field name "Booked Date" will dynamically pop up underneath.

And if user selects a different choice, the date field will dissapear.

Can someone point me to anything that can be of help?

I searched around and noticed that this can be achieved via javascript using the ows.js object model?

Thank you for your help.

Does Simple Dynamic Data Fields exist using VWD10?

Hello, everyone.

I created this simple dynamic data form using Dreamweaver cs4, ASP VB technology and a MySQL Database:

I love all of the extended functionality that VWD 10 provided, but the most important functionality for me is to be able to completely design a dynamic data table any way I want.

I noticed after researching extensively that the GridView, ListView and DetailsView templates still leave me very limited in what I can design.

My question: is there a way for me to design a table in a details page with record placeholders that will be fetched from a master/detail page set?

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Dynamic Data Templates in GridView ASP.NET 3.5

At a high level, Dynamic Data Templates can be seen as a system to very quickly build up a User Interface linked with the relevant data model, immediately enabling you to perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on the database using the specified data source. They provide a powerful method for building up these kinds of applications, and I'm going to focus on an overview of what Dynamic Data Templates actually are, and a few ways of customizing them to suit industry needs.

ASP.NET 4.0 Dynamic Data and Many to Many Entity Framework Entities

I did not play much with Dynamic Data controls in VS2008 and just made a cool discovery in VS2010 Beta 2. This may not even be new, but as I'm sitting 30,000+ feet over the Atlantic ocean, I don't have access to VS2008 at the moment to check.

Dynamic Systems Development Model (DSDM) Methodology

The Dynamic Systems Development Model was developed in the U.K. in the mid-1990s. It is the evolution of rapid application development (RAD) practices. DSDM boasts the best-supported training and documentation of any of the agile software development techniques, at least in Europe. DSDM favors the philosophy that nothing is built perfectly the first time and looks to software development as an exploratory endeavor.

Adding Dynamic Rows in GridView with TextBoxes

I decided to write this article because this has been asked so many times before at the forums(http://forums.asp.net) . Basically, this example shows on how to generate a Row in GridView with TextBoxes when clicking a Button that is residing inside a GridView Footer.

What is the difference between "dynamic" and "object" keywords?

Let's take a quick look at the object keyword first. I'm not going to talk a lot about it because it's been around since C# 1.0. This keyword is nothing more than a shortcut for System.Object, which is the root type in the C# class hierarchy. (However, as Eric Lippert pointed out in his blog post, not everything in C# derives from object.) This is a powerful mechanism, since you can assign almost any value to instances of this type.

Dynamic in C# 4.0: Introducing the ExpandoObject

You have probably already heard about the new dynamic feature in C# 4.0 and how it is used to support COM interop. If you haven't, I strongly recommend reading the following MSDN articles: Using Type dynamic and How to: Access Office Interop Objects by Using Visual C# 2010 Features.

Dear gentlemen and ladies of the Microsoft Dynamic Data Team,

Mr. Steve Naughton says (and I hope so) that there might be chances that you read the posts published in this forum: I really hope so.

If that were the case then I am formally requesting to you in providing a "real answer" to my question:

I want to customize a dynamic data page (the details one) so I can have access to the data it has been already gathered from the end user UI (details.aspx) and use it to pass this same data to the following controls/pages that I am going to display next time to the end user.

For instance:

I have a screen with different types of data in it: texts, numbers, dates, check boxes, radio buttons and dropdownlists that has been filled with data by the end user. I want now to reset all fields exept the dropdownlist of which I'd like to keep the previously chosen values(the very same thing you do between dropdownlist of List.aspx ad Details.aspx). Even with FoxPro I could do that because data and controls were available there. It was as simple as setting carrying on to true.

Dynamic page customization in WebForms

I am developing an ASP.NET Webforms application for job advertisements. The application is hosted on my own server and enables registrated users to publish job advertisements with the possibility to submit job applications directly from web. The application essentially consists of two parts: job advertisements and job applications sub-apps.

The job advertisement application uses RESTful approach, implemented as ASP.NET routing and makes no use of different state variables (like viewstate). I provide custom layout of job advertisement webpage for every client using XML serialization of my internal JobOffer class and using XML ASP.NET control with custom XSLT transformation sheet plus CSS to render the custom design. It is all fine and works perfectly.

The second (job applications) part provides users with a custom webform, which is partically dependent upon the original advertisement (regarding the minimal education level, eligible citizenship or work permissions, licences etc.) and can be tweacked using custom CSS. There is, however, no possibility for custom layout of the elements on this page, which provides a multi-tabbed navigation for different parts of job application. Hence the question 1 (see below).

The application is not ready yet, but I intend to keep it hosted on my own server and provide just some ki
