Linked Report Subreport- Error: Subreport could not be shown on SSRS 2008r2

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I've got 2 folders: /Finance /Japan In the Finance folder I have a Sales report that has 3 subreports, and a salesregion parameter. I created a linked report in /Japan to /Finance/Sales, hide the salesregion parameter, and set the default to Japan, so they can only see their region's sales data. But when a Japan user runs the Sales report, they get Error: Subreport could not be shown because they do not have access to the /Finance folder. Any ideas?

SSRS 2000 reports when upgraded to 2005 report with subreport really really slow

We recently upgraded a report server and corresponding reports from SQL Server 2000 (reports 2003) to SQL Server 2005. After upgrade one of our reports which use two subreport is very very slow.

The sp's used for these all these reports are fast. All the sp's together takes about 40 secs.

Both in the BIDS environment as well as the report site the report is very slow.

We are using a database in which data is inserted through replicatoin. In all our sp's we have given 'with nolock' along with the table names.

Can anyone please help me here?

SSRS 2008 - Subreport passing a value back to the main (master) report

Looking for a way to pass a calcuated value or Sum from a Subreport back to the Main Report.   Is there anyway to do this.  In past posts, with the most recent being 2008, it is said that this feature was not available or included in SSRS.

ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

SSRS 2008 Having more than one subreport changes output

I have a master report which has a list control.  The list contains employee header information.  I have ticked the option to have a page break between each instance of a group on the details group properties page as i want each employee on a seperate page. There is no grouping on the list other than the default details.  I have two sub-reports which are linked to the main report by an employeeID.  When i add the first sub-report it displays the header and associated detail without a problem.  When i click on the next record it shows me the correct next employee header and the correct associated details.  However, when i add the second subreport to the list and review it, the first record shows okay, but when i click on next all the header information is gone - when i then click on previous to show the previously ok record - all the header for that record has now gone.  It doesn't matter which subreport i use as the first one on the master - it happens in exactly the same way as soon as i add the second subreport to the list control.  This is a vitally important report and i am now starting to get very frustrated as i cannot easily see a solution.  Your help would be most appreciated.  Barry

SSRS 2008R2 - go back to parent report does not work sharepoint integrated mode

I'm currently using SharePoint Foundation 2010 with SQL Server 2008R2 with the SharePoint RS add-in. I have a report with a drilldown to another report.  I can drill down correctly to the other report.  But when I do the "go back to parent report" it will take me back to the parent report, but when I try to drilldown again to another report, I get the following error. "Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(), response filters, HttpModules, or server trace is enabled. Details: Error parsing near ' <!DOCTYPE html PUB'. Line: 5 Char: 62099" When I run this report in VS 2008 or Report Builder 3, I have no problems drilling down and back and forth. I only have an issue when I deploy the report to SharePoint.  I have also accessed the RDL directly outside of a webpart page, but still get the same error. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue?

Creating Matrix report to show totals, need subreport to show details...

I've created a perfect matrix report using the nifty wizard and it's exactly what the client wants, but they would also like to see the detail for each row. I'm able to create subreports and pass parameters and all that jazz, but I'm having a hard time setting up a subreport for this matrix. It's pretty much this format                      MakeOfCar                      ModelOfCar LotLocation   Count of cars   This would return:                         Ford           Ford                        Mustang      F150 Location A:         5                0 Location B:         2                3

Sharepoint + SSRS -Report Security??? An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report s

I am able to deploy reports and run them as the farm admin that I did the Grant entry for in CA > App Mgt > Reporting Services > Grant DB access.

However, my AD personal user that has Local admin on every server has integrated SA security to the SSRS and Sharepoint Database is a Farm admin get's this error trying to run the reoprts.

An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.

Now if I log in as the farm admin ( the user I did the grant on) I can run and add the reports to the SSRS webpart... Am I going to have to add every user through that Grant feature? With integrated Sharepoint security there is no /reports virtual to decide what users can run  what reports so I'm not sure..

Some  other details.. I'm using Kerberos security, and CA > App mgt > Reporting Services > Manage integration mode is set to Trusted (not Windows).. otherwise .. I can't pull up Default settings under that Reporting Services section of CA.

Subreport Bug in SSRS / SQL?

Hello - I've posted about this issue specifically before, but I thought I'd address the issue generally.  The repro steps here are based on using SSRS 2005 reporting out of VS TFS 2005 with all updated Service Packs.

I believe I have come across a bug in my SSRS reports when using a report as a subreport.  Here are the repro steps:

  1. Create a new Report Project with whatever name you desire.
  2. Create a Shared Data Source called "TFSReportDS" of type "Microsoft SQL Server" with the Connection string like "Data Source=[servername];Initial Catalog=TfsWarehouse".  Of course, if you aren't running TFS you'll have to use a different connection string.
  3. Create a new report called "Host".  Within the "Host" report, create a Dataset using "TFSReportDS".  For my purposes, my Query string is "SELECT System_ID from dbo.[Work Item]" just for simplicity.
  4. Create a new report called "Subreport".  Within the "Subreport" report, create a Dataset using "TFSReportDS".  For my purposes, my Query string is "SELECT System_ID from dbo.[Work Item] where System_State is null".  The important part here is the "System_State is null" section.  For your own repro in your

Report Viewer control: Print crashes if subreport is too long

I have a report and a .NET 3.5 Winforms application which displays the report in local mode, passing the required datasets to the report as it is supposed to do. It takes about 2 seconds before the report is displayed.

However, when I click on Print Layout, the "Loading..." box appears and does not disappear any more. If I want to print the report, a window appears telling me that the first page is being sent to the printer and... that's it, all I can do is kill my application via task manager.

After playing around with various elements in my report, I was able to reproduce this behaviour if one of my subreport returns too many rows (the subreport contains only a list element, listing all records).

I believe it has something to do with the subreport spanning more than one page. I played with the KeepTogether property on various elements, but to no avail. Has anybody experienced something like this before? Is there a workaround?

Running Subreport and link to report ahead of time.

I have a question regarding running subreports ahead of time to ensure long running report does not take over 1 hour.

Problem Statment:

I have a top report subscription (Dashboard) that runs daily. In the top report, I have links to sub report that based its parameter to the top report row. The problem is the sub reports takes 20-30 minutes to run. How can pre run the sub reports once the top report has run, so that I do not have to wait 20-30 minutes to drill in to those sub report ?

Error showing subreport... due to user access?

I am experiencing a strang issue in SSRS 2005.

a) I have a MainReport that contains a SubReport and I deploy these up into Report Manager into a folder called MyFolder.

b) MyFolder has restricted access so only I can access it via ReportManager.

c) I ceate a linked report for each report: LinkedMainReport and LinkedSubReport and move these linked reports into a folder called YourFolder.

d) YourFolder is restricted to a Windows AD group... called ManagerGroup.

e) Report Manager folder structure now looks like this:

MyFolder (my access only)
- MainReport (original report)
- SubReport (original report.. and set to be hidden)

YourFolder (ManagerGroup and my access)
- LinkedMainReport
- LinkedSubReport (set to be hidden)

f) Security from the folders is applied to each report and link report by default.

g) ManagerGroup contains say 3 users: Homer, Lisa and Bart.

Homer and Bart can run the report "YourFolder -> LinkedMainReport" without any problems.  The main report and subreport embedded within it run fine.  The problem I have is when Lisa runs the same report "YourFolder -> LinkedMainReport" she sees the main report but gets the "Error showing subreport" message where the subreport is usually display

SQL Server 2008r2 Best Practice Analyzer report error

Hi All,

recently I was playing with SQL Server 2008r2 BPA. I have installed Baseline Configuration Analyzer in my workstation and my server has BPA installed.

Now when ever I try to run analysis on my workstation. I always get following errors,

1. User is not a member of Administrators group on remote machine, OR

2. Powershell Remoting is not Enabled on Remote Server

Now I am sure that I am Admin of that server machine and I have enabled the PS Remoting (because when I try to rerun the commands to enable remoting in PS it says it is enabled). Also, I can run BPA on my server if I run it locally (by logging into the server m/c).

If any one has any suggestion, I will really appreciate it.
