Background window failed to update after MessageBox was closed on 64-bit Windows7

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

In vs2008, I open a WPF window as background, and then click a button in background window to open the second window. In the second window, I make it WindowStartupLocation CenterScreen and put some controls, and then click a button in the second window to close it and open a messagebox, after closing the messagebox, I find the area behind the messagebox always fails to update in the background window. code of the buttonclick from the second window: this.close(); messagebox.show("*********************")  // after closing the messagebox, the area behind it in the backgound window always fails to update. This issue can only be reproduced in 64-bit windows7 Anyone got idea? Thanks in advance. bruce

Transparent WPF window blinks when background is redrawn

Hello everyone. I have a problem with a window which is transparent. If the background changes under the window, you can see that the whole window is redrawn, so it blinks and it doesnt look well.   <Window x:Class="Transparent" WindowStyle="None" AllowsTransparency="True" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Transparent" Background="Transparent" Width="190" Height="200" Topmost="True">   <Canvas Background="#FF444444" Height="200" Width="190" Name="TranspaerntCanvas"></Canvas> </Window> On some changing background it works fine (for example when I put it over a youtube video), but over openGL background the window is blinking. I use .NET 3.5 on win XP. Does anyone know, how to fix this problem? Thank you

Windows 2008 Server: Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream

Hi, I am trying to use TLS to connect to the Windows 2008 Server from windows XP, I set Authentication=False.

It throws the below authentication exception when connected to WIN 2008 Server with SP2, where as it used to work fine with WIN 2003:

Below is the sample code.

IPEndPoint ipe = new IPEndPoint(addr, port);

Socket socket = new Socket(ipe.AddressFamily, SocketType.Stream, ProtocolType.Tcp);

socket.Connect(ipe);

socket .SetSocketOption(SocketOptionLevel.Socket, SocketOptionName.KeepAlive, options.keepAlive);
socket .LingerState = new LingerOption(options.lingerTime >= 0, options.lingerTime >= 0 ? options.lingerTime : 0);
socket .NoDelay = options.noDelay;

stream = new SslStream(stream, false, new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(true), null);

Property Evaluation Failed - SQL Update

Hi

I have a code block that contains around 320 lines of code. Everything runs fine when i debug it until i reach the section that updates a sql datasource. I am using:

 sqlDScc.UpdateParameters("friendlyName").DefaultValue = friendlyName
I have 38 lines of update parameters before i call the sqldscc.Update()
When i put a break point before the update parameters all the values are correct at the break point at the end all the values are "Property Valuation Failed"?

I'm not using any response.end, response.redirect or server.transfer.

Can anyone shine any light on this error. If it helps some of the code is:

            If InStr(strResult, "Success") Then
                sqlDScc.UpdateParameters("friendlyName").DefaultValue = friendlyName
                sqlDScc.UpdateParameters("noOfCalls").DefaultValue = noOfCalls
                sqlDScc.UpdateParameters("alert_active").DefaultValue = alert_active
                sqlDScc.Updat

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 Security Update for Win XP failed

Hii all, I just tried to patch my system with latest updates, which were huge this time (14 updates of 42 Mb in total). Out of 14 updates 13 were installed successfully and one failed with error code of 0x643:

After restarting my system I authorised the dispatch of the failure report to Microsoft. Now I wonder if anybody else has encountered such problem with this particular update?

Crystal Report load failed on Windows 7, VB.NET window application

I've a window application that load crystal report perfectly fine on Windows Vista. But when I tried to run the application on Windows 7, it gives me inconsistent behavior: sometimes the report will load, sometime I will just see the blue wheel, sometime it gives report load failed exception.

My application was developed with VS 2005 with Framework 2.0 and CR 10.
My Windows vista is install with framework 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5.
Windows 7 is also came with 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 by default.

I do notice one difference between Windows 7 and Vista.
When a call is made to the report, a temp rpt is created in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp folder.
In Vista, no matter how many times the report is called in a session, only 1 rpt file will be created.
In Win 7, every call to the report will created 1 rpt file.
This is the only difference I see so far. Could this be the cause of report load failure?
If so, what's the workaround?

An extract of my code as follow:

Dim

Image with data source bind won't update on WPF Window

This is the WPF Window Class:

  public partial class MainWindow : Window
  {
    public Bitmap image;
    public CaptureModel cm = CaptureModel.Instance;
    public MainWindow()
    {
      InitializeComponent();
      image = cm.Image;
      DataContext = this.image;

      CaptureModel.Instance.PropertyChanged += new PropertyChangedEventHandler(Instance_PropertyChanged);

    }

    void Instance_PropertyChanged(object sender, PropertyChangedEventArgs e)
    {

      if (e.PropertyName == "ImageChanged")

        this.image = cm.Image;

Security Update for .Net Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7x86(KB244709) Failed

A security update was pushed out on our network a couple of weeks ago, but one user is getting this error.

I checked that the user is running Windows 7 32 bit.

I attempted to manually install the download from the microsoft page: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=157aa425-953c-4fc9-ab76-4e65d4be8baa&displaylang=en (making sure that I chose the Windows6.1-KB2446709-x86.msu version

I tried running the .msu download, still failed

I tried saving the .msu download to C:\224709 and running the installation from the command line with the following commands

  • expand -f:* "C:\224709\Windows6.1-KB224709-x86.msu" %TEMP%
  • pkgmgr.exe /n:%TEMP%\Windows6.1-KB244709-X86.xml

When I ran the above pkrmgr.exe command an error message popped up saying "Operation Failed: The Component Store has been corrupted"

Just to see if it would still install from the command line anyway I tried the following on the command line

  • wusa.exe C:\224709\Windows6.1-KB224709-x86.msu

Windows installer windows pops up and it begins the installation, but fails part way through and comes up with the same error "Security Update for .N
