VS2010 not displaying code when break hit.

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

Hosting a WCF application built on the .Net 3.0 framework in VS2010 and when a break is hit in the code the class will not display.  I can get other classes to display, but the class that I need to work on, where I put the break, is hidden and will not display no matter what I do. Thanks, Dave

Threading: Break Free of Code Deadlocks in Critical Sections Under Windows

Critical sections, a mechanism that prohibits more than one thread at a time from executing a particular section of code, is a topic that has not received much attention and thus tends not to be well understood. A solid understanding of critical sections in Windows can really come in handy when you need to track down multithreading performance issues in your code. This articles delves under the hood of critical sections to reveal information useful in finding deadlocks and in pinpointing performance problems. It also includes a handy utility program that shows all of your critical sections and their current states.

Difficulty displaying a PDF form in VS2010 (64bit)

In VS2008 I was able to display a PDF form (Adobe) from a button control.  Using the same process I am not able to display a PDF form in VS2010.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Where to place code to update database using WPF in VS2010?

I have an app in WPF that has numerous controls that are bound to datatables that are filled from sqlserver.

I now need to add the code for updates, inserts and deletes

Where should I put the code to implement this?

I found code

this

._adapter.UpdateCommand.CommandText = "tool generated update command

in an auto-generated section of the source file that VS created it looks almost correct but I have never before seen an update statement with an order by clause.
I also found multiple instances of:
  if ((this .Adapter.UpdateCommand != null )) {
 this .Adapter.UpdateCommand.Connection = value ;             }
But I cannot find where value is defined or assigned
I have a tabbed interface with a selection list to move back and forth through the datatable. I want to update the data base with all changes to the current selection when a user changes selection or selects a different tab So what is the preferred method to initiate the update and where should

VS2010 - Problem with WinForms generated code

Hi:

I'm having trouble with the code that is generated automatically by the WinForms designer, sometimes it generates code that uses the 'components' (IContainer) in the constructors of disposable components and other times it doesn't.

Here is some code. First the code that is generated in a clean new project with just one component on the form:

  private void InitializeComponent()
  {
   this.components = new System.ComponentModel.Container();
   this.errorProvider1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ErrorProvider(this.components);
   ((System.ComponentModel.ISupportInitialize)(this.errorProvider1)).BeginInit();
   this.SuspendLayout();
   //
   // errorProvider1
   //
   this.errorProvider1.ContainerControl = this;
   //
   // Form1
   //

SQL code works elsewhere, not in VS2010 Query Builder

SELECT caseid, recid, trandate, description, amount, SUM(amount) AS billtotal
FROM billtran GROUP BY caseid

The above SQL executes and gives me what I want under PHP/MySQL, but it won't even execute under VS2010 Express. When I put the above SQL code in the Dataset Designer Query Builder, I get an error: "In aggregate and grouping expressions, the SELECT clause can contain only aggregate and grouping expressions. [ Select clause = ,recid ]"

I don't understand what the problem is. What is the thing I must know about SQL that is different under Microsoft?

Code Optimized Web Development Profile (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

When you first run VS 2010 it prompts you to select an IDE profile to use. The profile you select will configure how tool windows are displayed/docked in the IDE by default and set the default keyboard shortcuts. You can then customize any of these settings by using the Tools->Options menu within the IDE and then override/change them. You can also later reset your profile and pick a different one by choosing the Tools->Import and Export Settings menu command.

Displaying SharePoint lists in Web Parts

When you create a built-in or custom list in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, Windows SharePoint Services creates a Web Part, a basic building block of a SharePoint site, to display that list. These Web Parts are called List View Web Parts. Windows SharePoint Services stores List View Web Parts in the site collection Web Part gallery. (The site collection Web Part gallery is the most central gallery of Web Parts for a work group. By default, the gallery name is the name of the site, such as "Our Team Site Web Part Gallery." )

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Displaying Row Details Tooltip on GridView using JQuery

Continuing exploring JQuery! I decided to implement a feature to display some kind of details related to a row displayed on GridView. For example when displaying employees details on GridView some information might not fit in the GridView because it will make it huge and wide. These infomration can be diplayed as Tooltip. Or when you want to display a picture and some kind of formated text to be diplayed as tooltip when mouse hover on the image.

Using ASP.NET 3.5's ListView and DataPager Controls: Displaying Data with the ListView

Prior to ASP.NET 3.5, developers who needed to display a set of records could choose between the GridView, DataList, and Repeater controls. The GridView provides rich data features, but has a very boxy layout; the DataList and Repeater allow for a more flexible layout, but lack the "point and click" data features found in the GridView, DetailsView, and FormView controls. The ListView bridges the gap between layout flexibility and built-in data features.

This article, the first in a series of articles on the ListView and DataPager controls, looks at the ListView's many available templates and illustrates how to display data. Read on to learn more!

Microsoft StyleCop: Source Code Analyzer for C#

StyleCop is similar in many ways to Microsoft Code Analysis (specifically FxCop), but there are some important distinctions. FxCop performs its analysis on compiled binaries, while StyleCop analyzes the source code directly. For this reason, FxCop focuses more on the design of the code, while StyleCop focuses on layout, readability and documentation. Most of that information is stripped away during the compilation process, and thus cannot be analyzed by FxCop.
