Create PDF file in server side

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,I need to create a .pdf file which can download by client clicking on the link in my web site. That pdf should be generated using stored information in database. It has different types of fonts which has not installed in client machine and only installed in web server. In this case, I'm not interesting to use crystal report or any other third party components that need to register to use and has some limitations. How can I do that using ASP.NET with C#?Thanks.

Cannot create database diagrams for sqlexpress .mdf file in Visual studio server explorer

Hello!

I've look around the forums but I can't get the solution for my problem. I've installed Visual studio 2010 with sqlexpress edition. Then I have renamed my computer. After renaming my computer I've deleted the directory C:\Users\uporabnik\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS. After restart, I have started VS2010, open Server explorer and I've added the connection to a new database. I've been able to add new tabels, bu when I've tried to add a diagram, it didn't work. In properties window od the database I saw, the the database owner was oldComputerName\username not newComputerName\userName. In sql server management studio I've reanmed the user oldComputerName\userName to newComputerName\userName. After attaching the database it worked fine.

I've returned to Visual studio 2010. When creating new database, the owner of new database is oldComputerName\userName. The next tip was renaming the  SQLServerMSSQLUser$ComputerName$SQLEXPRESS(and other names with sql...) in Local Users and gorups in Mange My computer. After restarting the compter I've got the same result. When creating new .mdf file in server explorer of visual studio, the database owner is oldComputerName\userName.<

Not able to create scheduled task in windows server 2003 using a batch file

Hi,

I am working on a .net 1.1 windows forms application. We have windows 2003 service pack 2 as the server operating system which uses IIS 6.0.

We have a report generation section. User submits report from the screen(c# code) to run report on a specified time. This request will create a batch file with the AT command with the time specified by the user. This batch file will create an AT job in scheduled tasks window and this AT job will a call another scheduler. This scheduler will generate the report.

the AT command looks like T 16:32 /INTERACTIVE C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\mywebservices\bin\Schedulers.GenerateReport.exe

This is working fine in all servers except one server which uses windows 2003 standard edition. The problem is like it is not able to create the batch file and subsequently fails to create the AT job.

Is there any permission related issue by which it is not able to create the batch file from code.

Please advice me!!!

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Server side validation of Fileupload control not working

I've tried this method in my code behind to try and validate that the Fileupload control has a file or not. I get the error message the the event "Server Validate" cannot be found. Can anyone tell why? Thanks.

Public Sub CustomValidator1_ServerValidate(ByVal source As Object, ByVal args As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ServerValidateEventArgs) Handles CustomValidator1.ServerValidate

' Get file name

Dim uploadAvatar As FileUpload = DirectCast(AdvertisementForm.FindControl("uploadAvatar"), FileUpload)

Dim UploadFileName As String = uploadAvatar.PostedFile.FileName

        If UploadFileName = "" Then
' There is no file selected
            args.IsValid = False
        Else

scripts file not found on server - 404

Fiddler is showing a 404 error when my published web application runs. the jquery.js file in
/scripts is highlighted in red by fiddler as not found. ( IIS log also shows the 404 error ).
I run the web app from visual studio, on local host - no problems. The publish is successful.
All the files are in the scripts folder of the web app on the server.

In the site.master I have:
<script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Visual studio does not complain about this. ( which indicates the file is found. )

Oddly, when I fully qualify the path, VS says file not found, but after I publish and run, fiddler
shows the jquery file being found and sent to the browser.
<script src="/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

when the <script> path is "../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", the fiddler error is
404: /Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js .

when the <script> path is "/MvcApplication1/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.min.js", fiddler shows the file
being sent to the browser from that /MvcApplication1/Scripts path.

server side does not save data when using POST data to another URL using WebRequest

Hi,
I am using a IIS 7.5 on Windows 7. I have a simple application that uses System.Net.WebRequest to POST data to another URL (in fact, the server side URL is on my local computer and it is hosted in IIS 7.5).

  1.  The problem is the server does not save data from client although on the client side codes when I debug and I see the OK message return from the code line

response.StatusDescription; // this has value of "OK"

2. How can I debug the server code side where to receive the request from client side who posts the data ?

The following is the codes for client who posts data using System.Net.WebRequest, and codes for server side who received posted data to save to database.

Client side codes: // also run on my local computer

public string PostIntegrationXml(XmlDocument xmlSubmitDoc)

Office Services: Merging Word Documents on the Server Side with SharePoint 2010

Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 include a new set of components called Application Services. These put a rich set of tools in a developer's bag for Office automation. We'll show you how to use Office OpenXML, Word Automation Services and SharePoint to build a simple application that merges separate status reports into a single document.

ASP.NET Pipeline: Use Threads and Build Asynchronous Handlers in Your Server-Side Web Code

Fortunately for developers, threading in ASP.NET is a lot easier than it was in ASP. In this article, the author takes a look at threading in the ASP.NET HTTP pipeline, and explains how threads are managed efficiently without the involvement of the developer. The article considers how the common language runtime threadpool is used by ASP.NET to service requests, looks at the pooling mechanisms used for handlers, modules, and applications, and covers both IIS 5.0 and IIS 6.0 and how they differ in their approach to request processing and thread allocation. Finally, how and when to use asynchronous handlers is discussed for developers who still need to use threads in their own applications.

Metadata: Create a Database Schema Repository with Meta Data Services in SQL Server 2000

SQL Server 2000 Meta Data Services is a repository technology that stores and manages metadata for SQL Server. Instead of building database schemas over and over, Meta Data Services allows you to freeze an entire schema for use in other projects. You can also use these schemas for training, testing, or debugging. In this article, the authors will review the various components of Meta Data Services and show how it can be programmed using a Visual Basic client, XML, and XSLT. They will also show you how to manage and manipulate your metadata by generating a simple database schema using a SQL Server repository.
