Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi I am connecting to my local cube from vb.net windows forms application. This form is called several times within my application. While in the application, i close the form and reopen it frequently.  The conAdomd.Open() functions without any error for the first three times . As in , when i launch the windows forms application for the third time, i get an error "A connection cannot be made, Please ensure that the server is running". I have tried installing the patches, but it does'nt help me.  Request help from forum members. Dim conAdomd As New AdomdConnection() conAdomd.ConnectionString = String.Format("Provider=MSOLAP.3;Data Source={0};", filename)     conAdomd.Open()

Connect Analysis Server across network using ADOMD connection

I'm new to Analysis Server. How will i connect the Remote Analysis Server across Network using ADOMD Connection.

Please Help me!

OLAP Query failures using an ADOMD Connection

Hello world,

I have a live working website (ASP.NET 3.5) that pulls data from an OLAP cube on a remote server without any problems. However I now need to move the website to a different web server, and for reasons unknown I cannot get the OLAP queries to work in the new location.

I have installed the same versions of .NET Framework (3.5) and ADOMD.NET (8.0) on both servers, and the website pages were copied across servers with no changes made, so this can't be a coding issue. However I get errors like the following when the new site tries to query the OLAP cube:

: Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdErrorResponseException:
	OLAP server error: Formula error (syntax error: invalid token: line 1, position 53, token: "&").
   at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdConnection.XmlaClientProvider.Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.IExecuteProvider.ExecuteTabular(CommandBehavior behavior, ICommandContentProvider contentProvider, AdomdPropertyCollection commandProperties, IDataParameterCollection parameters)
   at Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.AdomdCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior behavior)
   at BaseClass.run_olap_query(String MDXquery, AdomdConnection conn)

(Note: run_olap_query is my method that attempts to run the query).

The error would suggest

ADOMD Member Parent

When accessing a member parent in C# apparently this information isn't in the initial fetch, so every time I access the parent another request to the database is automatically spawned to get what looks like the SchemaData for that one member, when repeated 4,000 times its a huge slow down.

For the AdomdCommand I did a Properties.Add("Content", "SchemaData") and it doesn't change anything.

Is there a way to just get all this information at once?

The trace has one of these for each member that is in the result set.

How can a asp.net application (using Adomd.net) connect to SSAS CUBE?

Hi Guru,

Here is a very simple scenario:

a asp.net application retrieves data from remote SSAS 2008R2 CUBE.

      string conString = "Data Source=;Catalog=Adventure Works DW 2008;";

            AdomdConnection con = new AdomdConnection(conString);

            AdomdCommand command = new AdomdCommand("select from [Adventure Works_1]");

            AdomdDataAdapter da = new AdomdDataAdapter("select from [Adventure Works_1]",con );

            DataTable dt = new DataTable();

I already set:

1. localservice, anonymous, network service accounts in both SSAS Instance Security and SSAS DB roles.

 2. RequireClientAuthentication = false.

unfortunately, I always got the following message:

"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

Should I set up HTTP access for SSAS? and why?

Thank you very much for your kind help!!!
