Posting data to a website (HTTPS) from a Desktop Application in Visual Basic (.Net 3.5 or .Net 4.0)

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 29, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
Hello everyone, I'm trying to create a desktop application that will update my IPv4 address to an IPv6 Tunnel broker.  I have the app running up to the point where it sends the data to the website, and then I get exceptions.  I'd like someone to take a look at my code, and tell me what I've got wrong (if anything).  Here's the code that I have (the only portion that is filled in is for Hurricane Electric) Dim strUsername As String = txtUsername.Text.ToString 'User Id supplied by the User. Dim strPassword As String = txtPassword.Text.ToString 'Password supplied by the User. Dim strPasswordHash As String = "" ' this will be created from the hashing of the password supplied by the user. Dim strTunnelID As String = txtGlobalTunnelId.Text.ToString 'Global Tunnel ID (He.net and ) Dim strUrl As String = "" ' Place holder for the URL Which will be provided after the password is hashed and specified by the tunnel broker. Dim strTunnelBroker As String = cbxTunnelBroker.SelectedItem 'Sets the Tunnel Broker to the user specified one. Dim wc As New WebClient() 'Allows for posting data to the server 'holds the server response. Dim strData As String = "" 'Provides the data for the form. Dim result As String = "" Select Case strTunnelBroker Case

Spider in .NET: Crawl Web Sites and Catalog Info to Any Data Store with ADO.NET and Visual Basic .NE

Visual Basic .NET comes loaded with features not available in previous versions, including a new threading model, custom class creation, and data streaming. Learn how to take advantage of these features with an application that is designed to extract information from Web pages for indexing purposes. This article also discusses basic database access, file I/O, extending classes for objects, and the use of opacity and transparency in forms.

Pocket PC: Migrating a GPS App from the Desktop to eMbedded Visual Basic 3.0

A Global Positioning System (GPS) device captures lots of interesting information that can be used in many ways. This article presents a custom application built with Visual Basic that collects data from a GPS satellite and charts the course of a user relative to the satellite. Such an application is obviously well suited for use on a handheld PC and porting the original application to eMbedded Visual Basic for Windows CE is described. The differences between Visual Basic and eMbedded Visual Basic, such as support for specific control and data types, are explained. Tips for dealing with reduced screen real estate on a handheld PC, debugging, and running in an emulator are also discussed.

how to convert web application to website in visual studio 2008

Dear all,                      I have to integrate web application into website. What are the changes i have to do. I need information very urgently. can any one help here.

Visual studio converting from website to web application

I have followed the MSDN instructions in converting an VS 2008 Website project into a VS 2008 Web application project. I am running across the following two issues, let me know if anybody has any suggestions:1) When using the "Convert to Web Application" option, it shows an error "Generation of designer file failed. Unknown server tag XXXX"Most of the server controls are registered in web.config with:<add tagPrefix="UControls" namespace="APP_NAME.UI.WebApp.Utils" assembly="APP_NAME.UI.WebApp"/>How can I make the web application converter recognize the web.config settings?2) After the convertion above, when I try to compile the project I get errors of the form "Name 'CETest' Is not decaled". These are classes from an external library in the code behind files. The code behind files on the old website did not use "Imports" but again relied on web.config "<add namespace="APP_NAME.Business.Entities"/>"Is it possible to not use imports in the code behind file for web application ilike n the website project? Or is there other alternatives? Or will this be fixed if #1 is fixed?Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best approach for processing data from a website for use in a web application

I'm a part time prgramming enthusiat and have developed several web applications on earlier version of ASP.  I'm preparing to get back intoit and have been searching for ways to accomplish my goals.  One goal is to acquire data from a website feed and break it down for use of specific data in my application.  Specfically I want to be able to grab scores from NFL games so that I can use them in my application.  What I believe I need to do is write my ASP.NET MVC code to capture an RSS feed, then parse the feed (I'm guessing using C# string commands to break the feed down to variables that I can cast as integers and then use in my application.)  What I am uncertain of is whether this is the best approach.  Is what I am attempting to do best done with ASP.NET, XML and C# or should I be considering another approach?  Any pointers or suggestions for good examples/tutorials/books that you would recommend would be greatly appreciated.

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

Creating a Smartphone Application and Using Data from SQL Mobile

In this exercise, you will use Visual Studio 2005 to create a Smartphone application. You will associate commands with a mobile device's soft keys, and you will add the ability to scroll through the list of available products (a list of images). You will create a data source for an existing SQL Mobile database, and then test the application in the Windows Mobile 5.0 emulator.

In the following procedure, you will create a new Windows Mobile 5.0 project in Visual Studio.

About Dynamic Data in Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 4

Does anybody here have any pointers to screencasts, demos, webcasts for the latest enhancements in Dynamic Data as listed in above link? I'm repeating them here for ready reference :

  • EnableDynamicData method which enables Dynamic Data features in existing ASP.NET applications and DataSource controls
  • A new QueryExtender control, contained in the sample projects to simplify common data filtering operations. It supports a rich ASP.NET declarative query syntax that makes it easy to do things like search data for text or have filters based on ranges
  • A new Dynamic Data filter model that enables the developers to apply templates to pages just like field templates (including user defined filters)
  • New field templates of Email, URL and Enum columns
  • Support for inheritance in Entity Framework and Linq to SQL
  • Support for many to many relationships in Entity Framework
  • New Entity Templates which allow fine control over how an object is displayed and edited
  • DynamicHyperLink control for building links to tables and actions
  • Declarative support for D
